Dave D.
Dec 2012
We had remodeled a 4,200 square foot home to sell and needed to paint the entire interior. We found Carlos from a referral from a contractor we hired during the remodel.
Our biggest concern was quality as the entire house had stained trim - doors, windows, baseboards, ceiling beams and crown molding - fearing that a sloppy paint crew would leave us with more work and aggravation cleaning up the woodwork. Carlos assured us his crew paid attention to such details and while they would work quickly and professionally, they would never sacrifice quality.
We received a very fair bid and decided to go with Carlos and his Exacto Painting crew. They did exactly as we asked of them and what they said they would do. In fact, in all of the houses we've had painted, we had never seen such an efficient operation. They had about 7 people on their crew including Carlos, the manager. There were a couple of people who did the high trim, a couple of people who did the low trim and 1 dedicated person to rolling and he did it like an art.
I thought I could paint (and that anyone could paint), but watching these guys, especially the roller, I realized that there is an art to it.
It is also worth noting that my wife and I screwed up on our paint colors. We had tried to match a Sherman Williams paint to Lowes as were getting a bulk rate from Lowes. As Carlos' crew finished the first room, which happened to be the 24-foot high foyer/great room, it was apparent as the sunlight came in that the color had shifted from a warm medium brown to a greenish brown. We were in a panic as a) we had bought all the paint and matched it together and b) we knew Carlos' schedule was already busy.
We scrambled and asked Carlos and his crew to take lunch and allow us to go get new paint (from Sherwin Williams this time), assuring him that we would cover his costs for the added time. While he wasn't terribly excited to hear about our delay to his schedule, he took it in stride and offered us peace of mind in the midst of our panic by assuring us "No problem."
His crew came in after lunch, shook off our screw-up and started over. So I'm not sure which we valued more from Carlos/Exacto Painting - their detailed, quality work or their ability to work with us when we delayed the project.
Both meant the world to us and we'd recommend them in a heartbeat.
