Mr. Kissel was on time, knowledgably professional, and well mannered. First he arrived and explained how he would progress through the inspection. He included me every step of the way, taking time to explain and answer any questions I had. I was quite blown away with his level of knowledge and willingness to share that knowledge with me so that I can be a more proficient home owner. When the inspection was complete he brought in a sample home inspection report and went over the layout and content of the report and explained how to interpret the report. I highly recommend Scott Kissel, Edgewood Home Inspections.
Will highly recommend Scott. Extremely responsive and very professional.
me, I felt confident in buying the home "as is". I knew exactly what I was looking at as far as repairs, what needed to be taken care of
immediately and what needed to be addressed but could wait a while. The inspection was thorough, complete with a report including detailed descriptions of all areas inspected plus pictures. The owner, Scott Kissel, was prompt, courteous, professional, detail oriented and very patient with all my questions! I would rate it a highly educational experience as well in learning first hand about the house. I definitely recommend Edgewood Home Inspections - from start to finish it was an A+++ experience.
He also focuses on home safety, especially fire safety.
I would recommended him to anyone needing a home inspection.
"Thank you for your kind words about my service. Have a great day, Scott"
The first time I called him, he explained to me what he would be doing, and how long it would take, how much it would cost, and invited me to be there and watch the inspection as it took place if I was so inclined.I'm glad I did, because it was both enjoyable and informative to watch Scott work. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable and I learned a TON about the house I was about to buy.
As a first time home buyer, there were many things about home construction and design that I was completely unaware of. Scott took time to explain everything that he observed and even had a small handbook with short notes he had prepared and kept on hand with diagrams and descriptions of various building codes and construction methods. Then he would put what he observed in perspective by explaining what he typically sees in similar houses of the same vintage. This was very helpful and allowed me to gauge where my house fell in the grand scheme.I was really impressed at how well prepared he was. He had several bags of tools and safety equipment all neatly and carefully pre-packed in carefully arranged groups depending on what portion of the house they were meant to be used for.
For a relatively small house (1300sq ft), he spent over 4 hours going over every area of the house, including suiting up and heading down into the crawlspace with a flashlight and respirator. Going over the house with Scott and learning about details I never would have known made this inspection worth every dime. Within a few days he sent me a huge comprehensive inspection report complete with pictures and written detail of everything we talked about. Issues to be addressed were broken up into 3 levels of severity making it easy to decide what HAD to be done and what would increase the value of the property but was not required.
If you have the time to be there in person for an inspection of a property you plan to buy, do it! Reading a report alone will give just what you need to know, but the peace of mind and tips and tricks Scott will show you as he is inspecting are well worth being there in person. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone looking for a top notch home inspector. If there was an A+ rating I'd be giving him that.
