DON HARRIS WINDOWS & SIDING

I think they are very good. They are very reasonably priced and the quality of the roof job was good. They have their own line of windows that they carry, but I was not too happy with them because the glass portion was smaller than my original windows. I would recommend this company, but not to use their line of windows. I think the customer should specify what they want.

They were very prompt in coming out when I called them, they were courteous and were quick to respond to any small issues that came up with the work. They did everything that they said they would do and finished the job when they said they would. I like that the owner of the company was very involved in the project all along the way.

Of the 6 companies that I talked to, Don was the most professional and helpful. He was not a hard sell type, as were several of the others. His expertise helped in my picking the brand of window to buy. His crew was on-time, friendly, and the quality of workmanship and cleanup was top notch. I would highly recommend Don Harris Windows! A+.

They were very professional. I liked their pricing and they cleaned up after themselves. I found them to be good at what they do and I would use them again anytime. I would also recommend them to friends.

Don Harris got back to me very quickly and came out to the house within just a couple of days. He was very thorough when we met and gave me some very good advice. Once they got started, it was a quick tear off of the siding, within 2 days it was all removed. Then it took a couple of days to get started putting up the wrap. It was probably a good week and half before the house was fully wrapped. Dealing with the weather played a big part in this job taking so long. Many days were rainy and/or below freezing. They hired a separate company to do the roofing, but it was completed within 2 days. The real problems started when the job was almost completed. There was a gutter missing, and one that was hung incorrectly. They were eventually fixed. They had a list of about 8 "small" things to complete, but started and finished a new job before completing mine. I felt like my job was put on the back burner and they drug it out for 3 weeks before completing it. Also, the cleanup was much delayed.

They saved me money by not damaging the wood around the windows. They also left the job clean and neat. I also receive compliments on what a beautiful job they did.

Overall I enjoy using Don and his crew. They are very professional and do a good job. The only issue I had this time was that they ordered the wrong windows and I had to call to get a status. I do wish Don called and gave me the update versus me having to call.

Except for some unfortunate health problems with one of the workers, the job was done very well. They stripped off the trim boards, put a thin layer of styrofoam insulation on top of all of the plywood siding, sided the second floor of house (main floor is stone), they trimmed all of the windows and doors. Their work was meticulous and the clean-up was very good. The workers were amiable and hard working. Don Harris came by several times to inspect the work being done by the team. He is a pleasant and fair person to work with.

Cooperative, conscientious crew who worked diligently despite the relentless heatwave. Subcontracting out the gutter work to someone else who in turn subcontracted in to someone else. Much lost in translation.

I felt the work took a bit longer, than I expected. Sometimes I was not notified of their arrival time and did not make arrangements for their ability to use the electricity. Communication or lack thereof, was somewhat of a problem. The work was completed and cleaned up satisfactorily. I have had them return to adjust loose siding two times. I am not sure if the siding problems are caused by weather but it has been fixed, overall the work was fine and the price was fair.

Work was completed in a timely fashion. Workers were polite and appropriate. Quality of work matched the existing. They corrected a couple of irregularities in the existing siding without added charges.

WE ARE VERY SATISFIED WITH THE QUALITY OF THE WINDOWS AND THE INSTALLATION. OUR NEIGHBORS AND FAMILY HAVE COMMENTED ON HOW ATTRACTIVE THE WINDOWS ARE. WE FELT COMFORTABLE DOING BUSINESS WITH DON, AND HIS CREW WAS PROFESSIONAL AND WORKED VERY QUICKLY.

DON CAME OUT TO THE HOUSE AND TOOK A LOOK AT THE WINDOWS. DID A GOOD JOB LOOKING AT THEM/TAKING MEASUREMENTS AND TALKING THE CHOICES THROUGH WITH ME. COMMUNICATION WASN'T BAD, BUT IT WASN'T GREAT EITHER. I WAS TOLD HIS BROTHER WOULD COME OUT AND TAKE SOME ADDITIONAL MEASUREMENTS, NEVER HEARD FROM HIM. HE TOLD ME THE WINDOWS WOULD BE IN WITHIN 2 WEEKS AND HE WAS DEADON. THE CREW THAT HE SENT OUT WERE VERY PLEASANT AND DID A GOOD JOB. THE ONLY ISSUE I HAD WITH THEM, WAS THAT THEY DID NOT CLEAN UP VERY WELL AFTER THE JOB WAS DONE. THERE WERE PIECES OF PLASTIC/METAL AND SUCH, NEAR WHERE THE WINDOWS WERE INSTALLED.

BECAUSE OF A LACK OF COMMUNICATION WITH DON AND HIS SUBCONTRACTORS THEY WERE A WEEK LATE IN INSTALLING THE BAY WINDOW AND THE DOORS. I HAD TO TAKE OFF TWO DAYS OF WORK AND THEY DID NOTHING ON EITHER OF THOSE DAYS, JUST A PROMISE THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE THERE. I FINALLY HAD TO GET MY DAUGHTER TO STAY AT THE HOUSE. THEY THREW THE TRASH AND DOORS ON THE FRONT LAWN AND LEFT IT THERE FOR TWO DAYS, TURNING THE GRASS BROWN. DON'S COMMENT WAS THAT THE GRASS WOULD COME BACK. THEY LEFT A MESS IN THE BACK YARD, IN THE HOUSE AND IN THE GARAGE (NAILS AND SCREWS IN THE DRIVEWAY) FOR ME TO CLEAN UP. THE BRICK LAYERS CUT THE GARDEN HOSE. DON SAID THEY WOULD BE BACK THE NEXT DAY TO FINISH SANDING THE WALL, FIX THE TAPE BUBBLES ON THE WALL, AND FIX THE SCREENS ON THE PATIO DOOR THAT WERE NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY. HE LEFT THE DRYWALL PATCHING AND SAND PAPER FOR ME TO FINISH THE JOB, AND DID NOTHING TO THE SCREENS. I AM A 60-YEAR-OLD WIDOW AND WOULD NEVER HAVE THEM BACK IN MY HOME!!!!!

COMPANY OWNER DON HARRIS CAME TO MY HOME THE SAME DAY OR THE DAY AFTER I ORIGINALLY CALLED FOR A FREE IN-HOME ESTIMATE. WHEN I CALLED BACK TO SCHEDULE THE WORK, HE HAD THE CUSTOM WINDOWS MADE AND INSTALLED WITHIN THE PROMISED TWO-WEEK TIME FRAME. HIS INSTALLERS WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS AND MADE SURE TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES AFTER DOING A GREAT JOB INSTALLING OUR WINDOWS.

DON WAS VERY PERSISTENT ABOUT GETTING MY BUSINESS. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH ORDERING THE WINDOW, SO THEY WERE PUT IN 1 MONTH LATE. THE WINDOW COMPANY THAT HE REPRESENTS WAS TO REPLACE ONE OF THE WINDOWS THAT WAS DAMAGED. 3 MONTHS AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE, NO ONE HAD CONTACTED ME ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT, SO I CALLED DON. HE HAD CERTAINTEED SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED WINDOW. 2 DIFFERENT APPOINTMENTS WERE SET UP AND CERTAINTEED CANCELLED BOTH OF THE APPOINTMENTS THE DAY OF INSTALLATION, AND THE WINDOW HAS STILL NOT BEEN REPLACED. I UNDERSTAND THAT PROBLEMS OCCUR, BUT AFTER TAKING 2 MORNINGS OFF OF WORK TO HAVE THE WINDOW REPLACED, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND CERTAINTEED WINDOWS TO ANYONE ELSE.
