The in home estimate went well. Shellie appeared to fully understand the situation (separation/divorce) we were in and said all the right things. Per the Estimate/Contract, Crown was to pack all items on Tuesday 9/21 and load on the Wheaton truck 9/22 or 9/23 (though 9/23 was never discussed as an actual load date unless of an unforeseeable event). We received and signed the written estimate and were given the glossy folder showing the fabulously clean and professional Wheaton truck and driver that would be moving us.
On Monday 9/20, the "Move Coordinator" (not Shellie, by this time SHE was on vacation) called and asked if we could load and pack on the same day. I agreed, but said ONLY if she could guarantee and VERIFY that they would be there on Wednesday 9/22. She called me back a little later and said the driver would be at our house on Wednesday morning 9/22 between 8AM and 10AM and the driver would call us Tuesday to confirm. Tuesday came and went with no call (apparently ZERO EFFORT at follow through from the Move Coordinator as well). Wednesday morning we were stressed, but ready for the move. At 8:15, the "Move Coordinator" contacted us and said the driver would not be there until Thursday (my wife's flight out to FL was 7 AM Thursday - which we kept because they told us Monday that everything was on schedule). When I tried to get Crown to send packers yet that day (Wednesday), they refused to honor their contract (that would have everything packed and labeled BEFORE my wife had to leave).
So we spent an extremely stressful Wednesday getting my wife ready to leave. Thursday I had to get up at 4:30, take my wife to the airport then come back and supervise packing my wife's stuff. This caused me to take an extra day off work.
Oh...the truck as not Wheaton, but a Beekin. Not a big deal, but it was not what I was lead to believe. The packing was reasonably efficient, it took about 4 hours. The driver and packers left 2 boxes of trash (cleverly concealed behind my compost bin so I would not see it) when they left.
The driver told me he expected to deliver my wife's belongings to Florida Tuesday 8/28. Delivery finally took place Tuesday 9/4. They gave my wife items that were clearly not hers and she is not at all sure she has all of her items.
I am delighted to report that Crown/Wheaton was outstainding in every way. From the day that I spoke with them on the phone, to the day that their representative came to my house to review the move, to the estimate that was provided, to the packing and move out here in Carmel and finally, delivery to Tucson Arizona, all was just perfect.
They provided a "not to exceed" estimate and actually billed me at less than that amount. So both the price and the service were outstanding.
The driver was truly exceptional--he knew his profession very well, was so careful with everything, and delivered it all on time and in perfect condition.
I am making a move over a two year period and have told Crown/Wheaton that they have my business for the final move as well.
I highly recommend this company to anyone and everyone.
In July, Dave and two young men came to our old home and moved most of our household goods into storage. They noted all markings on the furniture and inventoried each piece before packing them. The crew was neat, courteous and prompt. They worked from 8:00am to 7:00pm in the evening to complete the process.
Nov. 17th Bill, Alvin and Travis delivered, unpacked and set all of our stored items. This process took about nine hours.
In June and July we had moved some items ourselves to a rental home while a new home was being built. This was done over a thirty day period. Since we wanted all of our household goods with us after closing and we needed to vacate the rental we used Crown for the local move. The Nov. 17th crew arrived on time and loaded and transported the entire load, filled a 30 fooot truck, then unloaded the truck place all items where directed all in 8.0 hours.
Completely satisfied,
"Thank you very much for your comments! We value our customer’s feedback – thanks for taking a few minutes to share your experience. We’re glad to hear your move went smoothly and we hope you’re acclimating well in your new environment. We are also very happy to hear that Phil got things set up and coordinated properly and that Dave and his team did a good job for you! Thank you for your business and please let us know if we can assist with any future relocations."
"We sincerely regret that this move did not meet this customer’s expectations. The move did occur during the largest blizzard during the winter of 2011 and we were severely impacted by crew members and office staff that were unable to arrive to work as scheduled. The move would have typically taken two days to pack but since we had to start the packing the next day we shifted our schedule to increased the crew size in order to expedite the packing process so our customer could load as scheduled. While our preference would be to pack the move in one day we increased the crew size and pushed our crew so the customer could load as scheduled. Looking back we should have pushed both the packing and loading back so we could better control the process but we make every attempt to stay on schedule for the loading. We sincerely regret that in that process the customers expectations were not met, but we are pleased that once the driver showed up that the move proceeded back on track and occurred smoothly. In the future we will attempt to be more proactive when there is predictions of severe weather that may impact our services."
"We sincerely regret that our customer was dissatisfied with her move. We do everything in our power to satisfy our customers and will continue to work her to attempt to resolve. When the move was set up we were to load on 04/21 and deliver on 04/23. Once we loaded the goods the customer told us that she could not receive delivery on 04/23. At that time she was unable to give us any firm date so we had to place the goods into storage. We ended up storing the goods and delivering about 4-5 weeks later when she was able to get possession of her home. We are in the process of working with the customer to resolve the claimed items."
