We were delighted to meet Mr. Courtney ( Richard ) after being referred to him by a relative. He is a very personable guy !! For our two front windows, I requested ones with the blinds built in. This was a new one for Richard but he spent over a week sourcing them and getting us the best quality and value for our money. Once the windows came in and the work began, I was just as impressed with the guys on the crew as I was initially with Richard. They were here off and on for over a week (there were some weather issues). Richard came by every single day to check on their progress and make sure my husband and I were happy. At the end of every day, everything was cleaned up before the guys left. Their work was efficient, they were prompt and courteous. John and Glen did so many little extras going above and beyond that meant so much !! We are beyond happy with the huge difference these changes have made to our home!!! What could have been a somewhat stressful experience for us and our dogs, was made almost painless thanks to the good nature and excellent work by the guys. Don't hesitate one minute to call on Richard and his guys for whatever you may need done !!!

John did a wonderful job on my kitchen. He replaced my counter tops from 1971 with new ones. He also replaced the sink and the faucet which involved replacing some of the pipes under the sink because it was a different depth sink. My ceramic tile looks wonderful and he even extended the tile next to a kitchen window which really looks nice and was extra work for him. He put in two lights under the cabinets which was an extra request from me and was very gracious about doing the extra work. He does not cut corners to get the work done quickly. It is obvious he takes great pride in his work. They cleaned everything up and got the work done in a timely manner. I will be having them back for future projects for sure!

They are excellent. They show up on time, keep the work area clean and are honest about the work to be done. There are no surprises.

John Hanger was in charge of the estimate and construction. I felt comfortable with him from the beginning. He told how he was planning to demo and rebuild the bathroom, and I liked the way he said he does construction. His price was competitive with other estimates-actually less than one of them. Once I gave him a down payment(half of the cost of labor, which was reasonable to me), he sent me out to select the materials. I was responsible for the tile, fixtures, cabinets, sink, toilet, tub and fan. He supplied the construction materials. The demolition was extensive. There were two men who started the demo, and another one, Kevin, who finished it. John did a lot of the work and supervises as well. They covered everything in house and the basement before starting the demo. They cleaned up the substantial mess before starting the re-build. They hauled away the mess. John, Kevin, and Danny explained everything to me during the project. They were all professional, trustworthy, and kind( I have 2 dogs that they had work around and one of them is hard of hearing, so they were very careful with her). Two dry wall men installed the dry wall. John installed the glass block window. Danny finished the window outside(looks great). Some of the items I had selected looked questionable when put in the bathroom. John would placed the items in there but did not install them(I was at work most of the time while the project was in progress). I would call in the morning and ask John's opinion, and he would be honest(one cabinet I bought looked silly, the prefabricated sink I ordered initially looked terrible with the tile, the decorative tile I selected initially was too busy for the style, the shower shelves I selected did not look right, etc). I appreciated his sense of style and reluctance to install things that looked odd without my taking a look first. John ordered a different sink, shower shelves( the one he suggested is very hip), and decorative tile. The walls and floor are perfectly level(not a small task in my 1928 bungalow).Any thing that was ordered that did not work was my doing. The bathroom is beautiful. I am totally happy with Courtney Construction and John Hanger. The price may look high but they did extensive work and I selected some expensive material. They fixed some things that they ran into while working in my house in addition to the bathroom, too, but I did not include that in the total price. The quality of the work is superb.

Courtney Construction has certainly done lots of work on my house (10 contracted jobs). As general contractors, they can do it all. As indicated in the previous question, I have engaged them to handle all types of jobs. They are trustworthy, thorough, and skilled in what they do. John Hanger (foreman) takes great pride in the quality of work they perform and does not cut corners. When they discover problems, they solve them rather than cover them up. In my 62 year old house, there have been lots of problems covered up by past owners/contractors. I do believe we have discovered most and corrected all that have been discovered. Overview of Jobs:Master Bathroom Remodel: Demo down to the studs and subfloor, replaced everything with high-end fixtures(cabinets, lighting and air tub), installed porcelain tile in decorative pattern, installed heated flooring, and replaced all plumbing, venting and electrical.Whole House Generator: Poured concrete pad for generator, did all electrical work, ran natural gas line to the generatorHallway Bathroom Remodel: Demo shower, expanded shower by bumping into the hallway closet, replaced all fixtures with high-end fixtures, replaced all lighting and venting, and installed marble to countertops and shower door frame and shower seat.Front Entry: Demo existing steps that had been updated in the past by previous owner (did not match the period of the house) and were crumbling. Designed and poured period appropriate steps and installed new lighting.Security doors: Replaced all original and existing storm doors with security doors.4 Seasons room: Converted existing screen room into 4 seasons room to include insulating floor, raising corner of house that had sunk over time, installing double hung windows, installing new subfloor, installing commercial grade outdoor carpeting, repainted everything to match and updated lighting.Gutter screens: After years of problems with clogged down spouts, they cleaned gutters, repaired gutters where needed and installed gutter screens.Kitchen: replaced all appliances with stainless steel appliances, replaced sink with Kohler rimless sink, installed Delta Touch 2-0 sink faucet, replaced all plumbing and electrical, installed new RO machine, and installed counter switch for garbage disposal.Door Jamb: Replaced damaged door jamb, planed two other doors to allow for installion of new flooring, and rehung three doors.
I will certainly use Courntey Construction again.

They were just wonderful. The reason why I liked them so much was that they gave us an exact quote of what they were going to do and how long it will take. They came right on schedule and they were very professional. They were very neat and cleaned up. I couldn't speak higher for them. I have used them about 3 or 4 times already. I can't think of anything that they could have done better. Anything that we have ever asked them to do they were able to do.

I have used Courtney Construction many times and have recommended them to my friends. They are very professional and go out of their way with little extras. I had hail damage on one side of the house. Because the siding could not be matched, the insurance company allowed me all new siding. Mr. Courtney's crew came out when they said they would, were very courteous and respectful. Best of all , they did not leave any mess behind.

Overall, he was a little slow in getting the job started, but that was probably my fault. He really did do a good job though.

I called many companies, trying to get someone to repair the roof. Many companies did not return my calls, and those that did said that they were not doing any repairs on roofs because they were busy doing roof replacements. However, Courtney Construction did return my calls and came out fairly quickly to give the estimate. It did take several weeks for them to come out and do the work, but it seems to have been done well. The roof and chimney look much better, and we no longer have to worry about the leaks. The employees were courteous and worked diligently. I will be happy to use their services again.
