Things started well enough. $1550 was pretty expensive for gutters, but copper isn't cheap, so some of that cost was the material for the cap.
It took over a year, however, before the job was actually completed. I've completely lost track of how many times I had to have Construct Solutions come back out because the gutters continued to leak. It was 5 - 10 times. Each time it took multiple phone calls and weeks of waiting to get them to come back out and complete what I had hired them to do. It was extremely frustrating as the massive leaks continued to do damage to the interior of my home, but as long as they were willing to continue to try to make it right, I didn't have a problem.
In the summer of 2011, it seemed they finally got the gutters pretty much watertight. At that point, it was clear that the "repair" was a complete waste of money as the gutters overflowed in even the lightest rain. Though I had relied on Dave's expert opinion in determining what work was necessary to get my gutters working, and the cap and soldering were entirely at his suggestion, I didn't protest as I just wanted to get my house fixed. Dave suggested that the gutters would need to be roofed over. So I asked that Construct Solutions give me an additional estimate for the cost of roofing over the existing gutters (the one I had spent $1550 on) so that standard aluminum gutters could then be mounted to the box. It took Construct Solutions 3 months to provide me with the estimate. In that time I decided to go with another company since I couldn't wait on them when I was still collecting water damage.
It took a year of calls with the new company and multiple trips on their part and that of the company that hung the new aluminum gutters before all of the problems were ironed out except for one - there was a 3-inch gap between the end of the box and the copper cap that I had paid Construct Solutions to install. Water had been leaking through this gap for a long time, and roofing over the gutters and finally getting the rest watertight resulted in even more water plunging into this gap. Naturally the water going into the soffit caused rot and the soffit has become to come apart at that end.
I've been contacting Construct Solutions about this remaining issue since November. It's now nearly the end of March. I've put in a dozen calls. Two guys came out once to take a look at it, but they did not work, and I've gotten almost nothing from Construct Solutions since then. That 3-inch gap is part of the job that I hired them to do. It's been 2 and a half years now, and they still haven't completed the job, and now they're not even bothering to return my calls. I realize my house is no longer a money-making project for them so it's not a priority. But it's their botched work, and they're not holding up their end.
