When I had Cochran to ask how much they're going to charge me, they didn't even remember what was going on in my roof or how much they're going to charge. They never got back at me. I went with someone else. They never gave me a paper and told me what they found. They never showed me pictures. There was a lack of communication.

Our Project Manager met with the homeowners insurance company at her property twice to evaluate the damage to her home. Once the scope of loss from the insurance company was received we provided the homeowner an estimate for the additional work needed to be done on 9/9/15 which was not covered through insurance. Once I sent the estimate over I then called homeowner to discuss our quote with her in detail. Homeowner at that time suggest that she wanted to add some other items to my original estimate, which I did and again sent it to her then discussed the revised quote in detail. During this process we've had numerous interactions with the homeowner trying to help her the best way we knew how, but I do want to apologize to the her that she feels that we weren't thorough enough with her project and I wish her the best!

We bought the Deal for roof inspection. We've had a leak off and on and so far no one has found the answer. Jimmy responded quickly, inspected the roof and the only visible problem was exposed nails in a small area. But he proposed replacing all the siding on the front even though another contractor had done that a few years ago. He said he would fix the exposed nails and bring siding samples and an estimate. We contacted him weeks later since he hadn't gotten back to us. He was having trouble getting samples, but didn't take time to let us know. Over a month later he called and said he would drop off the samples, which he did. But we told him at that time we wouldn't do that project and just wanted to use the credit to fix the exposed nails. He said when he had time, he would come by and do that. It's now over a month later. We called today and he said he would get us an estimate to do this small project. He said he would have to get a roofer to do this and it would be at least $500. We thought we hired a roofer to do the inspection. I had checked reviews before buying the deal, and there were many good reviews. PLEASE Read The REVIEWS before you hire this company. The "A' reviews are on new roofs, all other reviews seem to be "D" or "F" . According to the reviews, the roofers they hire do a great job, but for small problems go elsewhere.

Unfortunately Mr. & Mrs. [Member name removed] have had several contractors out to fix the same leak. When they told me that, I assured them that I was the right guy for the job, as I have been in this industry for over ten years. The leak, located right above the front entry door, had several possible entry points. After inspecting the roof, I noticed that there was no ice and water shield running along the step flashing, where the roof meets the siding. Also, they had a window replaced right above the door, and the was no z-flashing above the window. And finally, there were a few shingles, on the second level of the roof, that had nail pops. I recommended that we pull off the siding and and a few shingles to run ice and water shield behind the step flashing and put the z-flashing above the window. The biggest issue with that is that the siding is over 20 years old and if any of the pieces broke we may not be able to match the siding with new siding. I told the home owners I would try to find as similar siding as possible, but being 20 plus years old, that siding would most likely be discontinued. I called our main supplier and they said that they thought they had that type of siding. Due to my schedule, it did take me two days before I was able to get over to my supplier. And unfortunately they had made a mistake and they did not have the siding I was looking for. Over the course of the next week and a half, I had visited three other suppliers before I was able to find a siding that was very close to what the home owners had. I called the home owners to let them know that I found a close match and I would like to bring a sample by. The homeowners did not respond to my phone call. The next day, I called them again and left a message that told them I would go ahead and drop off the sample on their front porch and that they could call me at their convenience. They responded with in the next day or two, and asked me to meet them back out there. I met back with them and they had another contractor open the ceiling where the leak was, so they could see where it was coming from. They had decided to put my recommendation on hold until they could see where the leak was definitely coming from. Mr. [Member name removed] had asked me to nail down the nail pops while I was there and I told him that nailing the heads down wouldn't really solve the issue. I told him that I didn't have a hammer on me but if he wanted, I would I could hammer them down and put caulk on the nail heads the next time I was out there. But I did inform him that that was not a permanent fix and was more like putting a band aid on it. I told them to let me know the next time it rains what they see in ceiling cavity and if the leak was coming from the shingles, the siding, or the window. Over a month had gone by and I had not heard a word from them. Finally they called me yesterday and wanted me to come back and replace all the shingles with nail pops in them for free. I told them that I am not insured by our company as a sales rep to actually do repairs on a roof and that I would have to have a roofing crew do the repairs. I told them that we would have to charge a minimum charge of $500 minus a credit for the Angie's List Big Deal, which would take it down to $400. She said that I told them that I would do the repairs for free, which I never said. And then she told me that there was no way that they were going to pay $400. And if I didn't do the repairs for free, they were going to leave a negative review on Angie's List.

It was fine. They showed up. They were here for about an hour and they left. They wanted to sell me more square footage but we didn't want it. It was for three bags and they tried to up-sell it for six bags because I needed to have it twice as deep. I have none up there and three bags is better than none. The price was right. The worst part is just having to deal with the second tier sale.

Got the big deal through here and it was a waste of money. I knew i had a leak but didnt really look for it. Just a quick inspection around the area. I said we did have water leaking down the firplace so the guy that came out said it is probablythe chimmney hood. He didnt check it out but still said he would give me an estimate to fix it. I never recevied the estimate 2 weeks later so i called and they said they had thought it was sent out but they were having some kind of computer problems. But still never offerd to check the chimmney for the real leak. I had another company check it out and found the problem right away. Dont get the big deal as the very minimal is given.

I bought the 99.00 roof inspection/minor repair deal as I had two exterior leaks going on, one from corner of gutter in the back and one between gutter and soffit in front. Ralph called me the same day I purchased and came out the same day, he was very nice and professional. He performed roof inspection and attempted to repair the two exterior leaks ( after the next rain the front seemed to be fine but the back was still leaking) He mentioned they also did interior painting/drywall/plaster repair, told him I had several rooms in need of those services, he came in and took pictures of all and said someone else would be out to take measurements and then he would give me a price, have never heard from them again.

I was called by the tech, Chris, within 24 hours of purchasing the deal online. Chris set an appointment with me for the following morning, Friday, September 4. The next morning, Chris contacted me to let me know he was ill and could not make the appointment. We scheduled the next appointment for the following Friday, September 11 at 9:00AM. At 9:15, the day of the appointment, Chris was not at the house. I texted him and he responded ten minutes later (9:25AM) to let me know he was running behind. He arrived at the house at 10:20AM. Once at the house, he took a look at my roof and said "whoever put the shingles on your roof should be taken out back and shot." Said that my shingles have been put down in an awful manner and that his company could do a better job. Said Cochran exteriors is the best. Stated his company just finished a job for Indianapolis Colt, Andre Johnson. Later told me about some work he did for radio personality, Bob Kevoian. Chris grabbed a ladder and was on my roof for about 10 minutes. I'm not certain what he did because he did not show me. He stated that my roof was fine and has about 2-3 years left in it before it's time for a new one. I asked if the flashing was okay, he said yes. I asked if the chimney looked okay, he said yes. I asked if the caulking was okay, he said he put some caulk down. I asked if the shingles were fine, he said yes. I asked about the shingles that were raising, and if I had nail pops. He said I don't have nail pops because the nails aren't penetrating the shingles. I showed him where I have shingles that are raised due to nails, and he said not to mess with those because it will cause leaks. He left, after being at the house for roughly 25 minutes. I'm not certain if I mis-read something in the Angie's List Big Deal, because I'm not sure what the maintenance portion of the service was. I was not told what needed to be done to maintenance my roof, other than it was fine. I'm not certain if there were any minor roof repairs necessary that could cause water infiltration. He did not enter my attic to check for interior leaks. (Keep in mind, it started to rain during the visit, so this would have been an opportune time to check for leaks in the attic. I asked him for a quote for heat trace because I've had ice dam issues in the front and back. It's been over a week and I haven't heard back from him with a quote. I texted him on 9/22 and he said he would get it to me right away. I still have not received it after 24 hours. I'm guessing I will not do business with them because I've already reached out to several other companies and have a few quotes coming within the week.

I paid $40.00 for a roof inspection that would turn into $100 toward replacing my roof if I chose to do that. They were punctual and friendly, and followed through without being pushy. The inspector told me there was sufficient hail damage to merit a new roof and assured me that he could work with my insurance company to make that happen. The insurance inspector disagreed with his assessment, saying any damage to shingles was due to normal wear and tear and not to hail. I brought in an independent inspector who agreed with the insurance company and said the roof inspector for Cochran was wrong to prod me to pursue a new roof. He said it was a waste of everyone's time. It was inconvenient for me at the very least, and embarrassing to push my insurance company for a roof that I didn't deserve.

At 1st it went well. The person who came out was very easy to talk with and we discussed what I wanted. He understood my problem and said he would have his co-worker design a plan to alleviate my gutter problem. The gutters would be redirected and a new drain would be put in. He also mentioned that he would propose using 6" gutters for the whole thing. After not hearing from them for 2 weeks I called and said I was going with another company. The secretary said she had the estimate right there and would send it by her private email. (I have no idea why.) I also have no idea why it took 2 weeks and the manager confirmed that it was ready the next day after the 1st visit. I wasted 2 weeks which was my fault. The estimate only had the 6" gutters. They never did an estimate for the redesign of my gutters...WHY because they have a minimum fee of $450. The 1st guy should have told me that and I would have moved on from there. I felt like he was totally deceptive. It was a push to go with the 6" gutters for $499. (The secretary said it was the minimum fee...I have no idea if she was correct.) The manager actually thought I would move ahead with the 6" gutters b/c they didn't do the redesign. Because the 1st guy was not upfront about the minimum cost and the estimate was not given in a timely fashion I decided to write a review. The first person was not forth coming with his information and that is not how you do business. I'm a good communicator and he knew perfectly well what I wanted to do. I was not looking for new gutters.

Checked roof for damage, was supposed to replace some blown off ridge shingles which I had recovered. Found hail damage to the roof, did not replace the shingles. Wanted to work with my insurance company on getting the roofing replaced and used this inspection / repair visit as a marketing inroad. Received quote from Cochran after meeting with my insurance adjuster. Upon recommendation from my insurance agent, I got additional company quotes on the roof. Found another company that accomplished the job with much less expense on my part.

It went fine. Steve was great and very accommodating. I don't think he knew that i didn't live at this house, so i had to travel 50 minutes to meet him just to talk. We could've take care of it over the phone though. Cochran is a great company with a lot of options. The shingles would've been a fair price and it would've been covered by our insurance. However we wanted a metal roof. Their first quote was 22k. So when I let him know we were looking elsewhere he came back with different materials at a lower rate closer to 15k. We ended up going with a company that did it for 10k, but they were polite through the whole thing.

April 12th I called to make an appointment. They showed up quickly after that to look at the roof and check out hail damage. I pointed out the damage on the eaves which is what I paid them to do. The insurance company said no for a roof job because the hail damage was not enough to warrant a replacement, and after that , there was little to no communication. I had to call and find out what was happening. I had to call and try to get them out to sign the contract before I could get on a schedule. They asked for 50% up front. I was scheduled for a Saturday, and when it rained, the job was pushed back. August 22nd, they showed up but did not have the equipment or materials to do the job and neither did the senior employee have the knowledge or ability to do gutters. After he talked to his supervisor, I told him since he didn't have the materials or equipment that he might as well leave. So he left. I got a hold of Chris York, could not because his mailbox was full. I called George (the sales manager, Chris's boss), left him a voicemail. He contacted Chris who then called me back immediately. I explained the situation, told him I was very upset and would give him the benefit of the doubt. I gave him the opportunity to complete the job on Saturday but with a different crew. Christ go back and said that he did not have a crew available and I told him at that point that I wanted my money back and to have the sales manager George contact me. George did call me, I explained what happened, and then George explained that there were two sides to every story and tried to make it sound like I had just scheduled the job for Saturday on Friday but I had previously scheduled it. I told George to put himself in my shoes and explained what happened. I asked him what he would do in that position and George told me I would have my check in the mail Monday morning. It is now a week from then and I have not heard a word about my check.
Description of Work: Nothing. No contact to keep me in the loop as to what was happening with the job that they had agreed to do. I had to be the one maintaining contact and I gave them ample time to get back to me.

I'm in the process of purchasing an older home, and needed a speedy but trustworthy second opinion of the condition of the home's roof. I had contacted another very well known local outfit, but they weren't able to get me on their schedule until next week. Cochran Exteriors came to mind because of their strong local brand presence - being a central Indianapolis resident for decades, it's impossible to miss their truck wraps and yard signs. Being that I'm an Angie's List member, though, it was important to me to vet them - check out their reviews, see if they were really involved with Angie's List, etc., before I offered them my business. They were - stellar Angie's List reputation! The receptionist was super friendly when I called, and went above and beyond to fit me into their schedule for the very next day. I really appreciated that aspect. I know it's peak season for roofing, and they're a big outfit, so, was definitely impressed! Chris called me right away that afternoon as promised by the receptionist. He was polite, friendly, and easy to speak with. I met with him the next day (yesterday) to have him take a look at the roof, after filling him in on my situation. I pulled up at the time we had schedule, but he so punctual that he beat me there by 20-minutes - was already done by the time I arrived! Super personal and knowledgeable guy. Provided me with his findings and a ballpark estimate of the need roof tear-off and repairs. Am currently in the process of moving forward in uses their services, and am certain I'll have more great feedback to share! I told Chris how happy I had been with my experience so far with Cochran Exteriors, and promised to spread the word to other Angie's List Members! So, here you go - call them! They might be a huge outfit, but they provide the same level if not higher levels of customer service than a smaller roofing group. Plus, they obviously are industry experts to have grown to that level of success! Thanks, Chris and Co! :)

Here's an overview: The first project we started with was replacing vinyl siding with hardi-plank siding. Our home is mostly brick, but siding covered roughly 20% of the exterior. Starting out, the project moved along without many issues. The old siding was removed and the hardi-plank was meticulously cut and installed. Overall it looked great, other than the trim work that was left unpainted. We discussed with the sales rep upfront that we were picking out the hardi-plank color / style to match our recently painted trim. Everyone was on the same page when the job started, but we it finally came to an end, there was trim that was left unpainted that needed to be touched up for the job to be complete. After weeks of Cochran haggling with us about which party should pay for the $500 to $600 in added cost, they finally did the right thing and completed the job. Now to the issue that is ongoing (the fence). For obvious reasons, we didn't want Cochran to begin the fence until the 1st project was actually complete. Our confidence in the company was already limited, due to the issues with the siding. Once that was resolved, we gave them the green light to proceed with removing our old fence and installing the new fence. That was roughly 3 weeks ago! After numerous excuses and broken promises about the actual start date, someone finally showed up at our home yesterday to begin the work. However, I was a bit concerned when I discovered that there was only one person working, when Mark (our sales rep) assured me just the day before that a full-crew would be at our home everyday (other than Sunday) and the total removal / installation time should be 4 to 5 days max. I decided to contact Mark again the morning of the start date to inquire about only one person being on the job. Again, he assured me that he would be meeting a full crew that afternoon and everything was going according to plan. I indicated to Mark that the last thing I wanted to do was have job start until a full crew was able to actually work. Once again, Mark assured me that wouldn't be the case. By 3pm yesterday, I received a call from Mark, in which he was delivering bad news once again - the crew wouldn't be able to start until Monday. Keep in mind, this job had already been delayed 3 times and every time we were given empty promises about start dates. Why would this make me so upset? After numerous delays, my yard now has uncovered holes that create a liability exposure for me as a homeowner and my backyard is destroyed. The worker had a clear path down our neighbor's driveway to access the posts for removal with his equipment (permission was granted by the neighbor). However, he decided to instead take a shortcut, and in the process my backyard now has tracks from the equipment that are 4 to 5 inches deep. I was so upset that I went to Cochran's corporate office and was somewhat greeted by the owner. Although he never introduced himself, he did listen to my complaint. I explained to him how unhappy I was because of all the broken promises, but more importantly, because of how my property was left, there was now a major liability exposure. After expressing my concerns, the owner did instruct the sales rep to return to my property to mark all holes with warning tape to ensure someone passing by wouldn't step in one of the deep holes. I've been once again promised that a full crew will show up on Monday to work on the project. At this point, I'm skeptical to say the least. My message to anyone considering exterior home projects is to really do your homework and consider companies other than Cochran Exteriors.
Description of Work: If you are looking for dishonesty, delays and deception, Cochran Exteriors is your company. We contracted with this company for two projects: 1) hardi-plank siding on our home, 2) installation of an aluminum fence and a wooden privacy fence. We started working with Cochran roughly 60 days ago and to date, the work is far from complete. Please note, this is the first review I've ever written about a company (positive or negative). However, the experience with Cochran has been so terrible, I feel obligated to let others know about our experience. Caveat emptor!

He was very professional and did a great job. He came out and inspected everything, and advised on problem areas we may need repaired. He even mentioned that he'd like to come back out to make a minor adjustment to one of our gutters at no charge. He's coming back tonight! I really feel like he went the extra mile, which you don't find too often anymore.
