The job went just fine. We always use this company and have not had any problems. We will continue to use them and suggest their service to others.

The installation was average to below average in quality. Too many errors were made along the way, such as failing to mix planks of the pre-finished hardwood from various boxes to avoid noticeable color changes when starting a new box. My biggest disappointment was just recently (Feb. 2011). The carpet in one room has apparently started to come loose from the tack strip - resulting in a noticeable bulge running through the middle of the room. I called the office and explained my problem to the person on duty, who said he would discuss it with Mr. Hamel and then call me back. Two weeks later I had not heard from anyone, so I called again. The employee did eventually call back this time, only to tell me that their work is only guaranteed for 12 months. He said there would be a trip charge, plus an additional charge based on the yardage, plus an extra charge if they had to move furniture. I told him that I had spent well over $12,000 and that I would think the job would last longer than a year. I said this was a very small area (the loft) and it probably would take less than half an hour to repair. It made no difference. Overall the quality of this job has not equalled the price paid. Be aware that "you're on your own" after 12 months. UPDATE: Today I had the carpet problem fixed by the Angie's List highly-rated Brown's Floor Covering. Upon inspection their employee said the carpet had been installed incorrectly and the backing had been damaged by folding and creasing (not treating it carefully). I was told that normally the original installation should have lasted for about the life of the carpet....if done correctly. It took less than 45 minutes to repair and restretch the carpet, and the cost was about half what the other company wanted to charge. The Brown's employee even took extra time to explain what I could do to make my carpet last longer, and moved the furniture and vacuumed the room at no additional cost.

I was not going to respond to this review because of the way Angies List puts this out to the public, but I feel I need to say something. Angies List does NOTHING to resolve these issues between customers and retailers but only seems to want to harm retailers. The responses posted can be done by anyone at any time with absolutely no accountability to what is written except your fee to angies list to be a member, that is the only thing angies list is interested in. SO IF YOU WOULD PLEASE GO TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU WEB SITE WHEN YOU WANT SOME REAL SATISFACTION ON GETTING YOUR PROBLEM RESOLVED. THE BBB WILL WORK WITH THE CUSTOMER AND THE RETAILER TO COME TO A MUTUAL AGREEMENT AND IF THE RETAILER DOES NOT COOPERATE THEY WILL POST THAT ON THIER WEBSITE AS A NEGATIVE RESPONCE, BUT ONLY AFTER BOTH SIDES HAVE HAD SOME TIME TO WORK OUT THIER DIFFERANCES. IF YOU NEED A QUALITY FLOORING COMPANY PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR RATING WITH THE BBB, IT IS AN A+ WITH NO OUTSTANDING DISPUTES OR NEGATIVE RESPONSES. The reason the member did not lodge a free complaint (you need not be a member with the BBB to lodge a complaint, no fees) with the BBB is because you have to explain yourself and problem to a person who is also going to here the other side of the story and give the retailer an opportunity to resolve the issue, if thier really is one to resolve. SO PLEASE REMEMBER THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IS ABOUT BETTER CUSTOMER AND RETAILERS RELATIONS AND THE RESOLVE OF ANY ISSUES AND ANGIES LIST IS ABOUT COLLECTING MEMBERSHIP FEES AND BEING A SOUNDING BOARD FOR ANYONE WITH NO RESOLUTION IN MIND."

HIRED FOR CRPT INSTALL. MEASURED WRONG-TOO SHORT. VERY RUDE, THEY DIDN'T CARE. THEY ASKED THAT NOONE BE IN HOUSE. YELLED AT HER WHEN OTHER CONTRACTORS WERE THERE. THE TWO INSTALLERS WERE NICE AND CLEAN CUT THOUGH.

"C.S.U. looked this customer up and found where we had done two jobs for this customer. There were no remarks on the paperwork of any kind that the customer was unhappy with any part of either job. One done 12/7/98 and other done 1/8/99. The largest of the two by far was the december job for $1983.10. The january job was only $126.75. If there was a problem which would probably have been on the december job why would we be called back to do some more work just a month later? The carpet for the very small room done in january was supplied by the customer they had gone out and bought a rem somewhere, sometimes those rems do not measure up. On my invoice I found is written customer supplied carpets. But still there are no notes that the carpet came up short. I must also add that we were never called by anyone about any problems with the job. We also were never notified by Angies List about this problem. It seems that anyone can go on Angies List and write what ever they want without giving the other party a chance to defend them selves, that is not right. If you go to the Better Business Bureau website and lodge a complaint they will contact the other party and give them a chance to correct or satisfy the customer, if the can`t or don`t reply they post the complaint. This way people can not just post any thing they want to maybe hurt that particular business. SO PLEASE GO TO THE BBB WEB SITE WHERE YOU WILL SEE THAT WE HAVE A FLAWLESS RECORD WITH THEM FOR SOME TIME NOW.
