Hired Calvin Landscaping for a design and proposal. They didn't deliver timely and only when prompted. They said they would do revisions, but they did not. Calvin didn't seem to want our project, but took money to quote it. For our project, we had designs done by 5 companies. Calvin was the one I regret the most. When I gave them this feed back I got the "Sorry you feel this way". I don't recommend doing business with them. The product was average, service was terrible.

I have been a supposedly valued customer of Calvin landscaping since 2014. Over the past few years their service has deteriorated dramatically. This year, as for years past, I hired them for spring cleanup of my home— which in the past has included trimming all the hedges, pairing back trees and bushes, applying pre-emergent weed control and laying down high quality mulch in bedded. I paid the $700 fee several months in advance of when they finally showed up. When they did, they trimmed absolutely nothing, did almost no weed removal, and did a very inadequate job laying down very low quality wood chip mulch. When I called to complain I was told trimming hedges pairing back bushes and applying pre-emergent was no longer part of the service. In fact, they wanted an additional $150 for the work they did provide. Obviously I refused to pay it and told them I will never use them again.

Excellent. Calvin has provided our lawn fertilization and weed control for many years. We have continued to be satisfied with their service. One time, we had to have them come back to re-treat for weeds, and they did so willingly and promptly. We will continue to use Calvin going forward.

Terrible.  Poor planting technique led to the death of some plants and they refused to replace them or replant the others.  All were planted too high - no cover over dirt ball from container.

This was the second time I used them. I liked the personal service. I was given a foreman on the job and she and I developed a very good relationship. I could call her if I had any issues. They were on top of it and followed up really well. They were very efficient. They were prompt and I was kept informed. They were a little expensive but I also believe you get what you pay for. We had several quotes and they were the highest but they also had the most professional presentation to us. I had a couple of plants die and they said they would come and replace them. They haven't done it yet but I believe he said they would do it in September.

I wanted a well installed artificial grass for my dogs and was willing to pay.  It took two different crews to get it in as the first crew said it is for dogs who cares. David Null the designer promised it would be right.  No one ever showed up to make it right. There are nails showing and the carpet is coming up.  It goes in three different directions.
 I also hired them to clean my yard and cut lawn.  Over charged and I had to hire another service to fix my yard.  
I was willing to have them do my landscape but now I would not let them on my property. Do not use Calvin Landscape.

It's been terrible. 6 out of the 10 trees have since died (starting in July) and it was not at my doing. 3 of the trees were river birches and 3 arbor bitaes.  I've contacted them twice to have them replaced, and they have refused to replace them. They have simply told me it was my loss. I know it's not my doing that these trees died, as I bought 40 trees off of another provider which are all doing great. I talked to the operations manager and the owner to no resolve. They basically laughed at me and blamed the nursery that they buy them from but Jim is the supplier and he's the one selling them. I would not recommend using this company.

I liked the fact that they didn't come to do the treatment for the couple months where we had no rain and the heat had just scorched the lawn. They knew when to come and when to hold off. They have done a nice job for us and always let us know when they would arrive. I would certainly use them again in the future, and intend to. They were very professional.

Jim Calvin is a very reputable businessman who gave us a great deal on a pergola at a home show having never met us before. We had to go get our check book and he had other folks ask about the pergola, but said it was sold based on our word only. After giving our kids naps, we came back and made the purchase. He then suggested we have a landscape design drawn up by his team.
We were very lucky to get to work with Joel Stevens who incidentally became my son's best buddy. One night my son even said he loved Mommy, Daddy, Sissy, "and Joel". Joel spent a lot of time listening to our desires of what we'd like to see in our backyard and how we plan to use it. He came back with this really neat plan that was priced out in phases so we could easily determine what portions we desired and could afford to do. He was very understanding that we wanted to do some of the work ourselves to keep costs low and worked out what we really "needed" from the Calvin Team. After we decided on a plan, they were able to start just a few weeks later and introduced us to Rick Campbell who would be the general manager of the project.
Rick was always available and walked through our property to make sure he was in sync with Joel the designer before they started. He then brought in his team of very hardworking men led by Felipe. Felipe and his team were very courteous and respectful of us and our property. Those guys worked harder than almost anyone else I've ever seen. Rick was always checking in and making sure everything was in order and I swear he knows how to do about anything. They stayed true to their word on everything they said and were happy to even accommodate a few changes and additional items. They finished when they said they would and Rick himself came back to repair our neighbors yard where they needed access like he said they would.
Both Rick and Joel have came back a few times to make sure everything was done right and talk about any of our other future needs. One night both Joel and Rick came over and demonstrated some lights we might consider and spent several hours with us instead of their families. We sat under our new pergola with them and all enjoyed such a wonderful outcome. Our yard is beautiful thanks to Calvin Landscaping and we have a few new friends too. You just can't get better service than that.

From the beginning estimate given by Mitch Wise, through the installation led by Rick and Terry, this project met, and in several ways, exceeded expectations.  Customer satisfaction was their primary focus throughout this project.

I was very pleased with the preliminary discussions and with the proposed design. I was also pleased with the professionalism of the crew members. They were clean, courteous, very helpful and fun. They even were good to my dog!

There was a misunderstanding between Calvin and me regarding installation of the driveway, so there was a considerable delay while that was worked out. I am delighted with the new patio and landscaping. I was disappointed to see some cracks in the concrete walk and drive within a month or so of completion. It has been explained to me that this is not uncommon. 

The subcontractor didn't finish a few details of the screened porch and I've let Calvin know that. It is my understanding that those small items will be corrected next spring during Calvin's spring work on my yard and garden.

My one complaint about Calvin was the lack of responsiveness to my questions once the project was completed. It took a number of months to get a follow-up visit to answer my questions about maintenance of the gardens, etc. 

All in all, I am quite happy with the end result of this extensive project, but in a perfect situation I would have received prompt acknowledgement of my queries - even if actual answers would have to be given later.

They did a great job with the back yard! We have asked them to come back and do our front yard. Two of them came out to look at the front yard, Jim Calvin and his design person. They said they would come back with an estimate and a design but we have not heard back from them. I am disappointed in their lack of follow-up for the front yard and it's been over a year.

They are on a schedule to come 4 or 5 times a year so they don't call ahead of time. They come and do the treatment, leave a small sign in yard telling you not to mow for a day or so and leave an invoice on the front door. Most of the time I don't know they came until I see the sign in the yard

I'm so pleased with the work provided by Jim Calvin and his crew! From start to finish, everything was done in a highly professional manner. Jim worked with me to design a patio and small retaining wall within my budget and also provided some wonderful ideas of how to enhance the landscaping I've already done. The job was scheduled to start in June, and I was really happy that the crew fit my project in before then. From the first day, Calvin's crew took great care not to damage my plants and their hardscaping was performed with huge attention to detail. The job took 4 days and the crew worked diligently and neatly the entire time. I would definitely hire Calvin Landscape again!

Mark, the landscape designer, was able to come out quickly after the first call to give us an estimate. Once we signed a contract, they were out within about 10 days to start tearing out the old patio and putting in the new. We had several concerns about the existing drainage issues and a large tree root coming from a beloved 100 year old maple. Rick led a great crew and addressed all of our concerns personally and professionally. They graded the new patio away from our sliding glass doors and put in another drain to help address water issues. Because the surface is much smoother, it's easier to sweep the helicopters up to prevent the drain from clogging. During every step, Rick did a great job of keeping us informed. We were very pleased with the end result and with the process of working with Calvin.

They have done a better job then others I have used in the past. I'm pretty happy with them. They show up when they are supposed to and I like the way they do business.

We moved into a new house with an unfinished backyard. We had just moved from a house where we had created our dream backyard. We wanted to create something special again, but we didn't have the time to do it ourselves this time. We met the owner of Calvin Outdoor Living at a home and garden show. We had an appointment to meet with Mark, the landscape designer, within a month. Mark listened to what we hoped for and came back with a detailed landscape plan, including a professional "blueprint" and print outs on every plant he thought would work in our area and with our tastes. It was exciting to see the patio go in. The team of men were detailed, exact, and professional in every way. As they added each element (seating walls, fire pit, towers, lighting, main paver patio) we were blown away by the beauty of what was going in. Just when we thought we couldn't be happier, all the plants arrived - 300 in total. We went from plain grass to a sanctuary within a day or two. Day or night, the patio has become a place of meditation and joy. The great part was that every part of the journey was also joyful. Mark made the process personal, tailored to our hopes, and then he exceeded expectations with the quality of work done. I would recommend this company to anyone, and we plan to finish the front yard next year with them.

They did a beautiful job on the landscaping. My only negative comment would be that they didn't keep me informed of their time schedule. They gave me a preliminary time they were going to start and then one day they just showed up. Other than that, everything went smoothly and it turned out nice.
