I had a program loaded for 5 years that suddenly developed a problem and quit running for me.  Contained over a decade of stored information, and was very important to me.  Due to some misunderstandings, the backup we thought had been occurring regualry had NOT been, and this program and the information could not be restored normally.  Doug and Andrew tried several preliminary things, but these did not work.  Spoke with me about options and were very responsive to my goals... they understood exactly what I was wiling to pay, and wanted them to do.  Work was done in a timely fashion.  I now have my data back.  I realize that some of what they did could have been done by me, but I don't like or understand computers and it was worth it to me to have them do it for me.  They were transparent throught.  As an aside, they have done much more difficuilt work for my husband's bsuienss, and have always been knowledgeable and professional.  I would always, always try them first for any computer problem.   Anyone who says they are too expensive: do the work yourself, if you feel it's  not worth it.  See how that goes for you.  We LOVE Bray Tech!

I brought my iMac (under warranty) in because it stopped working and Bray is an approved Apple service provider. The iMac still had about 1 week left on the warranty so I called Bray to get it fixed. Scheduled an appointment and the technician quickly identified what they thought was the problem - they replaced the logic board and LCD at no cost.
I brought the computer home and within 24 hours I started having the same problems again (before I took it in to be serviced). I took it back to Bray they diagnosed it again and found that the graphics card had failed. Again, they quickly replaced the component, at a cost of $10 for the shipping of the card, and returned the computer.
Within a week the computer stopped working again (same problem). This time I called Bray back to see what they could do for me since the problem had not been resolved. The lady that answered the phone basically told me that since I am no longer under warranty anything they do will cost me money. I told her that the work they did should still be covered by the warranty since I brought it in under warranty and the problem was not fixed. Again she told me that if they worked on it it would most likely cost me money.
At this point I told her that I was going to call Apple to see what they would do. She preceded to tell me how they would be less helpful and mostly likely won't even try and repair the computer b/c it was 4 years old. She was not very helpful and a little rude in talking over me. Not sure if talking to the actual technician directly would've been more productive and helpful or not.
Regardless, I was done dealing with that inadequate service at Bray and called Applecare and told them my story. They promptly scheduled me an appointment at the nearby Apple Store for the same day. I took it to the Apple Store and they diagnosed it while I waited. The technician told me that the graphics card was bad. I told the technician that it had been replaced already by Bray for $10. He took down the entire story to report to Apple and then checked my computer in to be fixed. They returned my computer 2 days later at no cost to me with a new graphics card. The computer is running great (1 week so far) with no problems. The Apple technician informed me if I have the problem again within the next 90 days i will be covered under warranty at no cost to me.

After I upgraded my Mac to Yosemite, it was running incredibly slow. At the Keystone Apple Genius bar I was told that the RAM needed to be upgraded. However, since my Mac had been purchased more than 5 years ago they could not help me, but recommended that I go to an authorized Apple service provider. I went to Bray Technologies nearby (Broad Ripple), where I explained my situation to Dan, who was courteous and helpful and ended up doing the upgrade. My computer was ready within 48 hours and, thankfully, is now running normally again. Although the cost for the express service ($190) were relatively high (the 2GB modules were $60), I feel that it saved me from buying a new computer, which would have cost me more than $1000.

Called and spoke to Doug to set up an appointment. He asked what we needed so he knew what he was doing before he every arrived. He called before he arrived, arrived promptly and went straight to work. He set up our RCA Visys Phones as well as connected us to a printer in the office so that both of us could use it.
Prompt, darn nice guy who knows his stuff and helped make our life a whole lot easier! We are a small business and like to support locally owned businesses. Bray Technologies is one to support!

I called them and asked for services available at my home and the cost. I called again and asked for a repair person to come to my house, they asked where I lived . I told them and they said it would be $125 for an hour of help plus travel cost. I agreed and the repair person was at my door in 30minutes. He did what I asked and updated both Safari and Firefox and spent the rest of an hour testingmy computer.

I took my laptop in on 1/27/14 and paid for the expedited service which is an additional $100.00. They do take the $99.00 diagnostic fee and apply it to the work being performed if you elect to have them perform the work. I was told by Apple that if I took my laptop to an authorized repair facility, they would be able to replace the hard drive since it was still under AppleCare. I was also unfortunate enough to need assistance pulling off data from the damaged drive. Fortunately they were able to do that for me. As my drive was over the mid-level size (I believe 500 GB), the fee for data recovery was $550. Since this was an AppleCare warranty replacement they had to return the damaged drive back to Apple. I had to pay an additional $50 to have the original drive wiped out so that personal data was not able to be recovered at Apple. I wasn't overly thrilled about that, but I did not have much of a choice in the matter. Just an FYI for you if you need to go down that road. Doug was VERY professional and VERY helpful. I would go back to Bray in a heartbeat if I was in the same position again. Highly recommend them.

I called first to see when a good time was for me to drop of my computer. The woman on the phone was helpful and answered my questions. I dropped my computer off the next day. I had the option of an express service, which I declined. I was told that for the diagnosis it would be $49 and that if they did any repairs, that $49 would go towards those costs.
They called me within a few days and left a message. I returned the call and, as I suspected, it would cost nearly as much for them to fix/upgrade my laptop as it would be to purchase a new one. My hard drive was shot, they said, and they would have to special order it from the manufacturer since my computer was so old. I declined their offer for repair and I picked up my computer the next day.
It was a very easy process and they were helpful and good at communicating with me. I would certainly use Bray Technologies again in the future.

Doug and his technicians did a very good job of purging viruses and installing new virus protection/parental controls on a laptop. The parental control software they recommended and installed was easy to use and had the capabilities that every parent would appreciate. I noticed that surfing speed was still slow after I picked up machine and they diagnosed and resolved that issue at no extra charge.

My issue with the company is mainly two-fold. First, they seem to focus on virus repair, and do not appear to have the capabilities or equipment to handle other issues related to hardware and software. I was quite certain that my laptop was malfunctioning for reasons other than those pertaining to a virus. This inclination was partly based on communication with computer-savvy individuals prior to sending my laptop to Bray, and none of those individuals believed the problem was virus related. Nevertheless, that was the only explanation Bray Technologies seemed to consider.

Second, it was difficult to actually speak with the technicians in their office. You wouldn't think this to be the case at a small business. However, the office manager was the person who I had to communicate with during most of my phone calls and office visits. Although friendly, this person really did not know much about computers. Whenever I had questions, this person would provide responses that were either really vague or lacking in the information I was requesting. Basically, I had to continually press Bray Technologies to tell me what it was they were actually doing to diagnose the problem.

Overall, it’s disappointing that they could not identify the problem, as I spent $100 and a decent amount of time on the phone with them and driving to and from their office. For these reasons, I do not plan to seek out their services in the future. My suggestion to Bray Technologies is to increase the communication between the actual technicians and the customer. Further, the business likely needs more equipment and tools/know-how to assess a broader range of software and hardware variables.
Response from BRAY TECHNOLOGIES
"The unit was dropped off for carry in repair with the following problem description: laptop is crashing, having a blue screen ( client has a document in the folder regarding this issues ) The technician performed Dell's hardware diagnostics and the system's hardware passed the tests. The technician checked for viruses and found the system was virus infected. The tech performed a virus cleanup and installed all updates to windows. The system ran in our lab for two hours with no issues. The client called in complaining of the same issue after the 30 day warranty period had passed. The manager extended the warranty and had the technician diagnose it for free. The technician ran all the diagnostics again but could not get the system to fail while it was in our lab. Summary: We guarantee all our work! We employ certified technician using state of the art equipment and diagnostic tools! We care about our clients and try to make everyone happy! How many companies will honor an expired warranty to take care of their clients! We did! Doug Bray President Bray Technologies Inc."

The owner was very patient and friendly answering all of our questions, which were many. He was able to give us an estimate over the phone, while outlining the work to be done. He put our concerns to rest. The technicians were punctual, professional, proficent, personable and what is most important to me - neat! The quoted price was the price paid. We would definitely use them again and have already recommended them to friends.
