roofing, siding, chimney repair

He took pictures and showed me the areas of damage we were looking at. He also got on the roof and looked. He said it didn't appear that the roof itself was the problem, so the dormer in the attic, the siding and trim around it were the place to start. He also indicated that the some flashing needed repaired as well as some masonry and a cap for our chimney. Despite the fact that I knew the chimney wasn't the source of the problem, I was willing to get an estimate for that as the house is almost 90 years old and wanted to see what we would be looking at to make those repairs as well. I was told that he would work up the estimate for the leak, and that he would contact the siding and masonry departments to come out and give me estimates for those problem areas. I gave him my email address as well as the tenants email and phone. This was Tuesday, as of today, Friday I have heard nothing. I received a phone call literally as I was leaving the home that afternoon, and got a voicemail indicating they needed the tenants number to schedule. Due to having a sick child, I was only able to follow-up today. When I called I was told that an appointment was scheduled for today, but that the tenant called to cancel and would call back to reschedule. This seemed a bit weird, as this is not normal behavior for my tenant. I then asked how I could get the estimate. She mentioned a name other than the sales rep I dealt with and then abruptly said she would find out what is going on and call me right back. I has been over an hour. I contacted my tenant to find out what happened. She stated she had an appointment and called back to see if she could get a later appointment in the day. She was told that there were no appointments for today, but that someone would call her back immediately to schedule for another time. That was mid afternoon and she has not heard from anyone either. I find it absolutely disrespectful to be told we will receive a phone call and then hear nothing. You do not have a business if it isn't for your customers. Big money or small, especially in this economy, a job is a job. From reading reviews, this is apparently a continuous problem. Either hire people who can do there job efficiently and effectively, or don't expect to get good reviews and repeat business. I WILL NOT be pursuing this any further, and will find another company to do business with. I do not have time for games! 12/20 update: I received a phone call from the regional manager. He immediately got on top of things, and the original employee that came to do the estimate scheduled for BDR Masonry and himself to go out and take a complete look to give me a thorough estimate. Because they were both there, they did a water test, which they did not charge me for. The estimate for the area we know is causing an issue was very reasonable. I also received a call from the guy in BDR Masonry to determine what exactly our goal was at this point in time. We got the estimate for the work on the chimney. Although it is not currently the source of our leak, it is serious need of repair. I was glad he called and discussed the situation with me and provided me thorough details about the issues going on. I felt that he was being honest with me, and was not pushing me to get that work done immediately, but did emphasize the risks. We will be getting another estimate just for decision purposes, but will likely be getting the work done with Bone Dry.
Description of Work: EstimateWe own a home that we rent out currently. We noticed that there was a leak coming from the ceiling, down a wall from the attic area. After my husband looked in the attic and saw water damage and wet wood, we decided to have a roofing company come out and take a look. We contacted Bone Dry as they have done work for a family member in the past. I called and scheduled an appointment for the following week and the sales rep showed up on time and seemed professional. He took a look in the attic at the source of the leak. continued below...

Response from Bone Dry Roofing
I just looked into the file and saw the pictures that were taken at the original appointment. There are multiple points of entry along the siding and trim and pictures from the attic showing daylight in these areas. I do apologize that the call back to you didn't happen to schedule both masonry and exteriors for your rental property. There is no question that the chimney is in bad shape and the reason for the special appointment for exteriors to come out and look at the siding is it is wood siding with wood windows. We do have people here that are trained with the new lead base paint regulations and any home built prior to 1979 needs to have special precautions taken when doing any work. No question we dropped the ball in calling you back and we do understand the importance of customers in our business. Over 60% of all our business comes from past customers and referrals like yourself. Given the circumstances I understand your frustration but I can make sure we have someone out there on Monday at your convenience to give you an estimate for the exterior. We will need access inside the room so feel free to call me or have your tenant call me directly to set a time that works. Cody Hergott - 317-714-2965

The roof replacement went well. The foreman was professional and inteligent and advised me that a couple deck boards were needing replaced which we did. The roof was completed in one day which included removal of the old roof. The problems started after that with the gutters and communication. The day the gutters were supposed to be installed, the tech called and said that he might be able to make it to the house by that afternoon that he just needed to wrap up a couple things at his last job site. It rained later that day and the tech did not show up. The next time the weather was good the tech came out to install gutters and completed. After inspection, the gutters were installed over rotten wood in a couple different areas that I specifically asked to have replaced and the rest checked. The leaf guards that went in top of the gutters were not installed properly and were uneven and poking out of the top. At that point I called my main contact and let him know that this was not acceptable and that it needed to be fixed. I also let him know that while I was inspecting the completed job, I found cigarette butts through the yard (not a smoker, very irritating), peices of cut gutter in the yard, and sheet metal screws in the driveway and in the yard. Didn't look like the crew did much cleaning if any at all. While talking to my main contact person I let him know that the painting had started but was not finished yet and that he could tell him to hold off until the new wood was replaced so they could prime and paint the new wood then finish up. At that time he mentioned that he would contact the gutter division manager and have him call me (was a new manager that week). That week the painting crew finished up painting even though the new wood was not installed yet. After talking with the gutter division manager he reassured me that the gutters and the wood were going to get taken care of and that they would paint the new wood as well. It took several phone calls over a period of several days in order to get the gutters taken care of and on top of that I got asked what paint color I had picked out because they had misplaced it. I drove to the house which was over 20 miles away (one way trip) just to get the paint color so they could mix more paint for the new wood. The following week the gutter crew showed up to remove the gutters and install the new wood facia and soffit. I went that night to check the job and noticed that there wasnt any primer or paint under the gutters to protect the wood. I called the gutter manager the next day to let him know what I seen and asked if the gutter was going to loosened from the wood in order to prime and paint behind it and I was insured that it was going to be done correctly. After going back a couple days later I noticed the paint was complete and the gutter shields looked better. I can tell where they painted around the gutter and not underneath it. There is paint on the new gutters now since the job was not done right. After going through the hassle of trying to commicate and make sure everything got done properly, in the end the job is still not done properly. The paint crew missed spots and it makes the paint look blotchy in areas and on top of that I have paint on a couple windows that I had to go back and remove. The gutters leak at almost every single seam, but I do not feel confident that when I call to notify them of a problem that I will get the service that I want and the only service that I want is a GOOD QUALITY JOB!! I could have paid less and had somebody hack it out if I had known what I was going to get. I would not recommend this company to anybody. If anybody asked me how Bone Dry did for me I will let them know that the roof turned out great but would tell them to stay away from any other service they offer.
Description of Work: Had roof replaced, new gutters, downspouts installed, facia wood, soffit board installed, and exterior painting done.

Overall, the experience was excellent. We did have to schedule two initial evaluations because the first person was unable to diagnose the cause of the roof leak. However, the the second time it was diagnosed (without us having to pay for a water test to diagnose the issue). It did take 2-3 weeks to get the service scheduled once we agreed to fix the problem. Bone Dry did put a temporary fix on the roof until the full repair could be scheduled and this was at no additional charge to us. The team who fixed the roof were professional and completed the job in a timely manner. We also received a follow up call to ensure we were satisfied with the work done. I would definitely consider using this company again.

The roofing crew arrived about 8am and got right to work removing the old roof. Then as there was some of the roof left to removed the other part of the crew went to work getting started installing the new roof. When loading roofing debris, the roofing crew kept the work area clean and organized and they worked steady thru the day. At the end of the job the crew must have went over my yard and driveway a dozen times with magnets to make sure they didn't leave any stray nails. Any work related debris were all cleaned up. After 6 months I have not seen any nails in my driveway or yard.
Description of Work: Bone Dry Roofing removed the existing roof replaced some sheeting on the roof and installed some new turbine vents along with snow and ice shield over the whole roof . I had this work performed 6 months ago and I wanted to wait and see how the roof held up thru severe weather and going into winter. Bone Dry did and excellent job no issues not one loose shingle and I have not had to call for any follow up work. I don't own a million dollar home Bone Dry roofing treated me like had one.

They seemed to have trouble with communicating, however, they were trying to get a ton of work done after the rain hit for a long period of time this past summer. They were probably back logged, but they completed the work. Overall, we were satisfied with the work. They heard our concerns about the communication and resolved that to our satisfaction.

Bid given in July, work began in October. Eventhough we took a while to choose their bid, Bone Dry honored the bid they had provided more than 30 days earlier. We selected the shingles which were delivered the Saturday before work was schedule to begin on Monday. Roofers arrived around 8:30, tore off roof, replaced decking and the roof by 7:00 that night, with the exception of the flat roof which was repaired by the commercial area. I had a concern about the chimney flashing because of previous leaks; when I asked how it would be replaced I was given a demonstration on how the flashing is installed. The area was thoroughly clean before the roofers left. The flat roof was replaced on Saturday. The next week a follow up was scheduled and the warranty delivered. We were told to call 24/7 if we have any problems. So far we have not. We are very pleased with our experience! The bid was $6,258 and did not include any decking. We suspected decking would need to be replaced and were not surprised when that was confirmed. We also added ice and water shields which were not included in the bid.

I called three roofing companies from Angie's list to get an estimate for a new roof. All three roofing companies showed up on time to do the estimates, but only Bone Dry left me an estimate, which was appreciated. The other two companies took about a week to get me an estimate by email. The sales rep was professional and personable, which made me feel comfortable. After I picked Bone Dry, it took about a week to schedule an appointment to complete the job. Because they were busy, my appointment was a week and half later. The week before my appointment it rained three days straight, which put Bone Dry behind schedule, which pushed my appointment back two more days. I had multiply leaks in my house, which was told to them at the time of the estimate. When Bone Dry called to reschedule my appointment, the scheduler said they can tarp my roof where the leaks were, but it didn't happen. By the way, one of the other roofing companies said they can tarp my roof from the beginning, if we choose them for the job. Bone Dry did the job and told my husband they will be sending pictures to show us what was done. We haven't received the pictures, but we have received the bill. Overall, my roof looks BEAUTIFUL. We would definitely recommend/use them again.

Fantastic personnel and service, beginning with the man who gave the estimate and temporarily stopped a leak for free on the old roof, to the roofing crew (amazingly organized and efficient), to the follow up service care man who came and touched up any detail work that I felt needed attention. Hands down, the best service and home improvement product I've received in my fifteen years in Indiana. I would absolutely recommend them to anybody.

I needed a new roof. My roof was original and the home is 21 years old. I subscribed to Angie's List to get a jump start on finding good, quality contractors, read several customer reviews and contacted the top 10 contractors. Don Peters earned my business as the hands done sales professional. Don is with Bone Dry Roofing. Don offered that he would be present during the new roof install. A grade of "A" for Don's salesmanship. Things get worse from here. After a few days delay due to weather, the Bone dry team arrived and prepared. Don and the team said it would be a one day job. It wasn't. They took two and I cleaned up quite a bit of the yard myself. The grade of "A" is now a "B". Two weeks later. I am still waiting on finished trim work (which I had to paint myself). I've since contacted Don and have yet to be contracted by anyone on the production side. I've not paid them because I haven't been billed nor have they finished the work. What was an "A" became a "B" and now let's call it a "D". D is my final answer.

As stated above, from the estimate to the final bill it was a great experience. Spending money on gutters is not a fun thing but when all is done and things look super we were glad we ch ose this company.
Description of Work: Replaced 50 feet of gutter due to room addition. Everything went as planned and it looks great. They arrived on time, made sure we knew exactly what to expect and cleaned up very well when finished. Everyone from start to finish were helpful, polite and I felt secure in the knowledge they provided. The estimate they gave was not the cheapest but I have found the price isn't the most important factor. I just want to get it done right and look good. We will use them again if necessary. The job is completed, but we are not quite through with the insurance process because they ended up charging more than they said. My biggest problem with them was the way they laid out their initial estimate. Then there was another paper that we signed like a proposal contract. When I went in to do the contract, there were some things that were verbally told that I got confused about. Then there was an issue with them. We had set the dates for them to come out. So, they wanted to know if they could move that one day and I said that was fine. So, the roofers came out and did their work. They called me and I got out there to see what they were doing as well as get them started. I wanted to see what they needed. They did a nice job on the roof. Then the gutter guys and the guys who had to come and do some other work wanted to come the next day. I didn’t hear from anybody that morning. So, I went out there and I was out there by 8:30. I waited a while and called the office, but nobody seemed to know who was doing what and where they were. I asked the girl that I had worked the contract with and she said that she would have me talk to Ben who would know about all that. However, Ben didn’t know anything more than I did. He said that he could give me a couple of phone numbers for those people. He gave me one for the awning guy who wasn’t doing the awing and he gave me one for the guy who does the license stuff. He was going to be picking up the stuff. We didn’t know where the gutter guys were and he didn’t have the number for them. These were all people that Bone Dry Roofing had. When I called the two guys, the other guy gave me the number and I gave him my cell phone number. One called me back and one didn’t. The one who did was the one who was coming out that day to do the wrapping all around the garage doors and the lights and stuff. He was picking up the outside lights and stuff that I had picked out. He got there and then he found that the job was more than he could do because of an injury and he had nobody with him. So, he asked me if he could come back on Monday and do it. I told him it was all right and I told him that I would be there at 8:30 on Monday morning. Then Monday morning rolled around, but he didn’t show up. When I got home later that night, the gutter guys had called and said they were coming out to the house. They were gone because I didn’t get there. For the awning, the guy never called me on the cell phone at all. He left a message saying that they weren’t doing the awning. That really wasn’t a big thing. That Monday when the guy didn’t show up, I called their office and he called me back finally around 10:30 that morning. He told me that he was put on another job and so, he couldn’t get there. He asked me if he could come out the next day and I told him not to come the next day since I had to go to work. He asked me if I could turn off all the power before I left for work so that he could do the lights. I said no to him. I didn’t want to leave the house dark so that anybody could break in without the lights on the outside. He then asked me if I could come out before I went to work. I had to be there by 7 and that was north of downtown and this was south of downtown. Then he asked me how about after work. So, I told him that I could be out there by 6 in the evening and he said that was too late. We finally agreed that he was going to come out the next Monday for putting up the exterior lights, doing the wrap around the garage door that had been damaged along with some other odds and ends. It involved putting the aluminum siding around the doors and stuff. There was a small edging that should have gone up before they put up the guttering. He could have done that the first day, but he didn’t want to do it because he couldn’t do everything. I could sort of see his point. At that point, I didn’t know when the gutter guys were getting there. The work they did appears to be decent as far as I am concerned. I am fine with their work. It’s just their communication and scheduling. They had a lot of business at that time, so they couldn’t schedule it right away. I too had enough going on with the care of my father and his wife. That was okay because my dad was in the hospital about four days later. So, I didn’t really have the time to review everything before. The scheduled date to start with was October 5th and they were to be done the next day on October 6th which ended up being the 17th of October. I haven’t paid them anything. I have got all the invoices from them and I have already submitted it to the insurance company for the depreciation part. It is $9200 and another $9600. The work that they did was under the coverage of the insurance policy. The only thing they didn’t do was the awning. It was an ordeal. It seemed a little overpriced for me. Their quality was good. They were lost in their volume since they had a lot of work. When I signed up, I told them that I would be on a vacation. So, they said that was not a problem. The roof people were A-1. They called me before they got out there. I got out there as soon as I could. They had already started on the roof when I was there by 8:30 in the morning. I found a couple of things that they didn’t seem to pick up. The roofing guys needed an electrical outlet which was on the back porch. The guy had a long extension cord. I don’t know if they were the roofing guys or the gutter guys, but they unraveled it and left it all across the back. It really bothered me when they didn’t show up on Monday the 10th as they had promised. I told the young man who was Justin if they wanted me to call and talk to the office about them being out there on Monday. He said that he would take care of everything, but he didn’t. They might not have scheduled if they knew he had another job. I might look around for somebody else in the future. I have to think hard about it before I use them again. The quality of their work seems to be quite good.
Description of Work: Bone Dry Roofing Inc. did roofing, guttering and some other work at my father’s house. They did the light fixtures. They replaced a fixture and the one at the bottom of the post lamp. The hail had kind of broken the glass around the light and they straightened it as well.

This job went well. We were given two repair options. Sam (who quoted the job) was available after he left to answer our questions and work with my insurance company. Jeff made the repair and did a great job. It took a couple days to fix, but he was working on his own. Overall we're happy with the results.

Our roof is very steep with multiple peaks and valleys. They handled the job with easy. The roof looks absolutely beautiful. It is clean, tight and very neat. They went above and beyond my expectations. We worked with Tyler who answered all of our questions and concerns in a timely manner; he did a great job through the entire process. The workers were very professional, clean and neat. Replacing a roof is a very messy project-they left our house and yard in perfect condition. A few minor issues were corrected quickly. Their warrenty was second to none and they stand by their work and materials. Your roof is the most important part of your house and it needs to be done right, and Bone Dry knows and understands this. Overall, we were very pleased and would highly recommend them.

They did a good job on replacing the roof, skylights and vents. They did a great job cleaning up. Acouple day later a different crew came out and replaced the gutters. The gutter installer were not as professional as the roofers, they had come back a redu the gutter in the back because they didn't place the gutter under the ice dam. The gutter install did not imform us when they were going to start or when they were finished.

They arrived when they said they would arrive. They were very respectful of my property, cleaned-up as promised.... like they were never there.... The work was completed in the time they said it would be complete and the job looks very nice. No problems since the work was done. The salesperson was very personable and trustworthy... very much a straight shooter. The office staff did a great job of communicating with me and scheduling and the site supervisor was also very good about keeping me advised of the status of the job. From start to finish, a good experience. After it was all over, I received a follow-up call from their office staff making sure that I was pleased with the work. Highly recommend them!!!!!

We got a few bids and eventually we selected Bone Dry Roofing Inc. I haven’t compared their prices to anyone else but I thought it was expensive. We will use their services again in the future.

They gave me an estimate and they seemed to know how to fix the problem of the water leak. They seemed very knowledgeable. They came out in two or three days and fixed it. Another provider quoted me $1600 for the same work. So the Bone Dry price was very reasonable. When their crew came in they knew exactly what they are going to do, they took the old roofing off and cleaned up after themselves and you would never know that they were there. They were very professional. I will use them in the future.

Company did a good job of bidding the work accurately (it's a very complex roof and number of squares varied greatly with other bids) , was timely and professional in tearing off old shingles and installing new tar paper, rubber surface on shed roof, and shingles and ridge vents. Took less than a week overall. Send specialist out a week later to complete chimney flashing and it looks great. All work and cleanup done in good workmanlike manner, trash hauled off. they took care not to mar or damage my foundation plants, hot tub, and driveways. I even negotiated for them to purchase and leave additional shingles for a small garden shed I'm building so they would be a perfect match. I cannot imagine them possibly being more professional or helpful. The only downside- I could have used some professional consultation on roofing color and I'm not entirely pleased with the shingles that I picked out. Not their fault but just a caution to those having roofs replaced.
Description of Work: Removed old roofing and vents, patched roof where old vents were located and some loose boards. Replaced with tar paper, rubber sheet material on shallow pitched shed roof portion, and shingled entire surface. Installed ridge vent where appropriate. Cleaned up all debris.

Once we made the decision to have our roof replaced, Chad was very helpful and knowledgable about colour schemes and what would look good versus our siding and brick. We talked to Chad on a Tuesday and the following Monday our roof was replaced entirely. The materials were dropped off over the weekend in the driveway and work began promptly at 8:30 am on Monday the 12th. I have to admit that I was not home during most of the install but when I returned, they we only about an hour from completion. I saw that they were covering my landscaping and cleaning as they went along. My only critique is with the soda can that was left in my tree between branches. I did play phone tag with the scheduling office to confirm the date but that was understandable to me. I did receive my Angie's List discount per a coupon that I forgot to show upon completion of the job but calling the office and referencing my invoice with the notation helped. One other critique is with the online payment page on the website- more trouble than it's worth. I had to jump through hoops to get it to acept my credit card. If they could fix that bug I'd say my experience was close to perfect-and my roof has already been tested with the recent storms! NO LEAKS AND IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!
Description of Work: I had the entire roof replaced with upgraded tiles

I called Bone Dry after contacting a couple of other contractors. One contractor came to help and soon became almost impossible to reach. So, I called Bone Dry and got ahold of them instantly. They sent out an account manager and he gave us an estimate. Not but a few days later I received a call saying he was no longer employed with the company and a higher up manager would be handed my account. They called a couple of times after that to see what we thought of the estimate and if we had any questions. I requested they send out the new manager to review the contract and shingle colors. He reviewed the contract and found about $1,000 in errors (to our favor) and added a ridge vent over the garage at no additional cost. We signed the contract that saturday and the workers were at our house on Thursday when the heat index was >100F. We were a little concerned about this since we were having our daughters first birthday party that saturday and didn't want everyone coming over to a mess. The company brought over at least 20 guys at 9:00AM and immediately started tare off while I was talking to the foreman. They were done with tare off by 11-11:30 and took a 3-3.5 hour break with a nap under our tree. I did not mind since it was so hot, they needed to cool down. After the break the got right back to work and finished the house by 6PM. The Foreman had them install two more ridge vents (at no additional charge) and they only charged us for 2 boards to replace some damage. The only complaint we had was that the workers apparently had no access to a restroom and my wife and mother-in-law noticed them urinating in our yard and on trees. We have 1Acre so its not a huge deal, just a little unprofessional. It seems the company should provide employees working on one site for the full day a place to use the restroom.
Description of Work: Roof Tare off and replace, modify to ridge vent in several areas of house, add ice barrier, and very minor repair.
