Mike was professional, competent and friendly. He did the work quickly and guaranteed the work for as long as I owned the car. My only complaint is he is very hard to get a hold of by phone. I had to make the 30 mile trip to his shop from my home to talk to him.

Son-in-law had self installed a remote starter on a 2006 Honda. It took 2 months and several friends to get the job done and the car put back together. However the headlights and turn signals didn't work. I decided to take the car to someone who installed remote starters. I found Asylum Autowerks on Angie's list with good reviews. I called and asked if they would work on a remote starter system someone else installed. Mike said yes. I then told him I need it done by the weekend. Inspite of a heavy work load he work me in. His tech checked out the system and found some wiring had been done improperly and had ruined the headlight/turn signal combination switch. The tech corrected the wiring. I found a purchased a new switch and Asylum Autowerks
installed it. Everything work just as it should.

After talking to several installers, I chose Asylum Autoworks, based on several factors, including distance, personality (on the phone), and price. I dropped the car off for them in the morning and it was finished when I left work that evening. When I picked up the car they were very clear in their instructions as to how the systems worked, including walking me through the various options and processes. They also said if I had later questions, to just give them a call or stop by. There were several employees in the building and all of them talked with me in a friendly manner. I was very happy and impressed with the whole experience and would not hesitate to recommend them.

provider gave estimates for the work to be done that were off from the final price by a substantial amount. provider told me that they would install component speakers in the doors (mid range, tweeter, and crossover for each door) found out later after opening up the door to try to fix a buzzing speaker that they were mid level kenwood speakers that were just two way speakers I could have picked up for $50 that they charged $150 for. They estimated 2-3 hours for the labor so my and a friend who work 3rd shift got there when they opened and dropped the car off and decided to wait for it. after 4 hours, called and got the run-around. after 6 hours called and said they lost my number and they had to go and get parts from their supplier and it would take longer. ended up being the end of the day at 5-530 when they were finally done with the car and told me that they still needed one small part to complete the job and if i wanted to get one and bring it back another day, they would install it for free. really?... They also told me that they were installing all Pheonix Gold equipment because that was their supplier and then obviously installing lower grade kenwood equipment... All this would be enough, but after calling two different days and over a handfull of times with leaving messeges and without any response or call back I let it go and ordered Infinity components myself and and installed them. Sounds a lot better and no buzzing. Then i remembered when i was there, the owner was behind the counter getting my estimate and a call came through on his business cell line (the one he answers with the name of the provider) and he saw the number that was calling and made a comment that he knew who that was and didn't answer it. really?... i can only imagine after calling several times and leaving messeges about a problem that my number was recognized if not from my receipt before that time. Anyways, maybe this was just a bad day and not like this provider but i felt i was seriously burnt with no retaliation. and i don't know if i've ever written a review but have been feeling for a while that i needed to do this. thanks for listening, i hope your experience is better than mine.
Response from Asylum Autowerks
"If there was a mix up on which speakers you were supposed to get, I apologize. We have a lifetime warranty on everything we do, so if there was a buzzing noise then you can feel free to bring it back. If the speaker went bad it would be replaced at no cost to you. If you were wanting Phoenix Gold components in your car, your bill would have been much higher as those cost over $300 each. You paid $600 for everything including labor and an amplifier installation. I would be happy to credit back the price you paid for the Kenwood speakers and apply that money toward Phoenix Gold if you would like. Also I try not to answer the phone when I am assisting another customer as we try to give the best customer service. Whom ever was calling while I was speaking to you did go to voicemail and I'm sure if it was important they left a message."

It went great, Mike is a great guy, I have known him for over 10 years. He always keeps to his word and is honest with you about everything. It's nice to deal with a smaller business instead of the massive body shops that don't even know which car is yours when you come to pick it up.

They went over the options and I ended up deciding to just retrieve the tape. I had a little trouble finding the place but eventually did. The price was good for the amount of time they put in the car. They were courteous and easy to talk to and work with.

Joel asked me several questions over the phone, stopped by my apartment and picked my vehicle up. He called my 1 hour later to tell me that it was indeed my battery and that he did a thorough inspection of my car and found that I need to have a gasket changed ($100 for the battery and $25 for picking it up and the inspection...not bad). He quoted me a price on the additional repair. I will be taking my vehicle in next week to have the additional work done. Joel will always have my business.
