"The initial leak detection service call from [member name removed] was on August 8, 2013. Leak detection services were performed on August 8th. [member name removed] called and stated the leak was not where we had marked. American Leak Detection returned to the residence on August 13th, and the leak was relocated. The leak was then exposed by the ALD technician, which is an additional step, not usually taken. The Indianapolis office gave [member name removed] a full refund for the amount of $365.00 on August 21, 2013 for incorrect location of leak. There was no further communication from the homeowner until her review on Angie's List, nine months after full refund was given."
I will post an update when the work is completed by the plumber to let everyone know if indeed they saved a lot of demolition trying to locate a pesky pin hole leak.
They were prompt and very professional. I felt this was money well spent as the repair for this would entail cutting a hole through the foundation in my kitchen so it was important to me to have this leak pinpointed as closely as possible. When the repair was made, the leak was within 8-12and quot; of where it had been marked.
After leaving several messages and after several days my plumber called them and they came the next day. There were problems locating the leak. At the first marked location the plumber cut the first hole in the floor found no leak there. I called and left a message and explained the situation when the technician called back. The technician came and after an hour of extensive searching he marked another location which was at least 7 feet away in another room. The plumber cut a hole at the second location there was no leak there either; but there were some signs of moisture. Due to lack of time to have Leak Detectors come back the plumber then cut another hole at a location about 24and quot; away and found the leak. There was considerable extra cost due to the additional holes having to be cut into the foundation and carpet having to stretched at the first hole. I probably should have called back a third time but I was out of time due to work issues. This vendor called me and discussed the issues and agreed that there were problems and has made a full refund for the services rendered; they have proven that they are an honest service provider and are sincerely concerned with providing excellent service.
Mike then took the time to cut out some of the drywall and wrapped a towel so that water would come into the garage as opposed to going down the wall.
Then they took the time to move my washer/dryer into the garage so that I would not have to. I really appreciated that!
They were very professional but had a wonderful attitude. If it wasn't for the plumbing issue, it would have been a pleasure to deal with them!!
"The first time American Leak Detection (ALD) came to the member's home was in 2005. Our customers are told when they schedule that their pool must be full, clean and clear. This is imperative for a structure test to be performed as we visibly inspect each area of an entire pool structure. We did a complete electronic leak detection on his pool. There were no plumbing leaks at the time of our detection. A complete structure test was unable to be performed due to the pool being cloudy. However, we did find a leak on the return face plate and applied epoxy to the area of the leak. We instructed customer to clean the pool and we would return to complete our services. Approximately 2 weeks later, we returned and completed our structure test to find no additional leaks. ALD marked the water level at that time and instructed customer to monitor for water loss and call if further assistance was needed. The next time ALD was called to his home was in 2009, four years later. Again, we did a complete electronic leak detection to find that the pool's horizontal and vertical seams were leaking. ALD does not repair seams so we instructed the member who to call for his seams to be resealed. It is important for customers to note that ALD has warranties for all services rendered. If a leak persists, we will come back at no charge if the customer calls us within 30 days of service. In addition, it is important for the customer to monitor their pool for this very reason. Had we known this pool continued to leak, we would have came back at no charge and continued to resolve the problem. In this situation regarding the leaking seams, until all seams are re-sealed, the pool will continue to lose water, and it would have been a waste of time and money for all involved to continue testing this pool if seams were not repaired. ALD stands behind their warranties and remains loyal to their customers. We would be happy to assist the member with his continued pool problems."
