We could not be happier with the shutters! For three rooms, we had to go with the more expensive ones made of wood. Due to our middle window dimensions, and to be able to go without an opening seam down the middle of those windows, we opted for them. We were able to go a less expensive route, on the other windows we had chosen, elsewhere in the house. The color he chose, was spot on. With all of our shutters, the mechanism to open and close the shutter is hidden so the look is very clean. The installation was great, and his son worked with me if I had any questions. All in all, it went very well.
My only criticizm was that the owner did not stay in touch with me regarding a back log on our order. I had to call him, twice, and I would have been far more pleased had he called me, even though it was not good news. I made his son aware of what happened and he said he would relay it to his father. (I do not remember their names, as it has been so long.) 
I would not hesitate to have more work done by this company, and I have given the company name to other people. I really like small businesses, and like to use them when possible. The price was really good, and we were able to use an Angie's List discount. It has been one of the best decisions we've made, changing something in the house.

Contractor arrived on time.  The helper assembled the frames and did the initial installation .  We ordered shutters that did not have outside control rods but instead had an internal mechanism that was not visible.  It was a little more expensive but was a look we liked.  The primary contractor checked the assembly and finished the installation after making sure everything was correctly installed.  We used a cherry stain which matched our crown molding.  The installer spent considerable time making absolutely sure we were pleased with the installation.  After 9 months of use, we truly enjoy these shutters and will be ordering additional shutters for other windows in the near future.

Recently the pull cords were having a problem. I called them and they came out to fix it. Again, I started to have problems again. They showed up a second timed and did not charge me and found the real problem and now my blinds work like brand new. They were very good to work with.

I replaced old cellular shades on several large windows in my home with custom made wooden plantation shutters. Four windows were large (7 feet by 2 1/2 feet) plus a wide picture window (3 feet tall by 4 feet wide). American Heritage came out within a couple days of my telephone inquiry and measured the windows, brought sample shutter sizes, and colors. They were able to create plantation shutters with only one horizontal divider in the center of the window (compared to Lowes or Home Depot who required two horizontal dividers due to the size of the window). Installation was efficient and professional -- approximately 6-8 weeks after I placed the order (which I was made aware of before placing my order). The quality and color of the plantation shutters is stunningly perfect. I am extremely pleased with both service and the product.

We have 16 shutters. They hauled away the old ones and ordered the new ones which were delivered in a month?s time. They took care of it when I wasn?t home and cleaned up well afterwards.

They were on time and professional.

Although the order took twice as long to come in than estimated (8 wks. vs. 4 wks.), the quality of the wooden shutters is very high. Also, Mr. Keenan did a careful installation. I noted a couple of problems with the installation and he fixed them both. The shutters are expensive, but I researched them on the Internet, and this price is reasonable for traditional (as opposed to plantation-style) shutters.

CLEANED UP AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED AND THEY ACCOMMODATING OUR SCHEDULES. THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB.

WE WOULD HAVE CHOSEN A DIFFERENT COLOR IF WE HAD THOUGHT THIS THROUGH MORE CAREFULLY. EXPECT YOUR SHUTTER ORDER TO TAKE 6-8 WEEKS TO ARRIVE.

HE IS INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, THEN HIRES PERSON WHO INSTALLS THEM. VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD AND HONEST. A VERY HARD WORKER.

THEY DID A GREAT JOB, BEAUTIFUL WORK. THEY PUT IN WOOD INTERIOR SHUTTERS IN MY BEDROOM.

GREAT SERVICE. MAYBE A BIT EXPENSIVE BUT NOT FOR QUALITY OF BLINDS PURCHASED.
