ACE MECHANICAL SERVICES INC

This company cost me $1900 in property they damaged. I hired this company through my home warranty company to fix my leaking faucet. This service was covered under warranty and I only needed to pay my $50 trade call fee. At the time I set up the appointment, I also told them that I wanted to have the plumber also install my sink in my vanity and that I understood that this was not covered under my warranty. I just wanted to have both my plumbing needs taken care of in one trip versus taking time off on two days. When the plumber came, he told me my the faucet was authorized for repair but he did not have a similar model on the truck for installation so he would have to set up a follow up visit. I told him there was a plumbing supply company only 3 minutes away and he could buy the parts but he said that was not possible due to time. I reminded him about installing the vanity sink and the plumber called into dispatch who gave him the go ahead to install the sink. The plumber told me it would be 2 hours and cost $158 for installation of the sink. I asked him how he had time to install the sink but not the 3 minute trip to replace my faucet. He said that's just the way it was. Obviously, it was just a money thing because I knew that it takes only 20 minutes to install a sink, not 2 hours he was charging for. The plumber had problems installing the sink into my granite counter top and took a screw driver and used a hammer to try to move the sink around and the granite top CRACKED into 3 pieces. The plumber became upset and long story short, the plumber gave me an invoice for the $50 trade call for the faucet and $158 for the sink installation. I told him that I absolutely would not pay for the sink installation when he cracked my granite top but I did give him a check for $50 for the home warranty deductible. He told me his company would call to work out the broken granite top issue. He also said he was sorry because he has never worked with granite. After waiting for 2 days, I never heard from Ace Mechanical. I called Ace and spoke with the manager, John, who told me that because the granite top was not brand new, Ace would not be held responsible and they would not pay me for a replacement top. My granite top is 25x94" and the replacement cost is $1900!! Now I have to take them to Small Claims Court on 1/6/09 to get the money for a replacement granite top. Do NOT trust this company and if you call the home warranty company for a repair, make sure you ask which company is being assigned. Also, I paid the $50 for the deductible for Ace to fix the leaky faucet but they never came back and ignored my calls. I called the warranty company and they had to send another company out because Ace didn't want to come and do what they were paid to do.

They are honest, and don't charge unnecessarily. They told me there was no problem with the sump pump, and told me the water heater was just clogged. These were just minor calls that could have become a major repair if the company did not our best interests in mind. I trust them, I would not even consider using anyone else.

It was horrible. They installed my A/C unit in someone else's house and blamed it on mis shipping the unit. I went 8 weeks without A/C. My thermostat read 88 degrees in my house at 10pm at night. I talked to the owner of the company and he told me if I didn't like it, tough. Since I was using my home warranty they were not very nice to me at all. I had to even pay upfront for the work. They also called to tell me they weren't showing up at 8am the day the A/C was supposed to be installed, after my wife had already taken the day off of work. I think they used my A/C unit in someone else's house because they needed to shut up another customer complaint. I would NOT recommend these people at all. If the owner doesn't care, do you think the service people do?

I need them to come back and fix the problem. Cost is per service call, only paid for the first call.

He arrived late in the afternoon as promised, called the warranty company after his initial look to see what was covered. He informed us of the warranty coverage and then proceeded. He found that the issue was not likely due to the plumbing, but due to the shower stall leaking, which the warranty company did not cover. He cleaned up after himself (his company does not do shower replacements) and left.

I had to call them three times before I got them out to my home. The first time, they said they had fixed things but there was still a drip. I called them and they came back and said it was from excess water. They came out a third time and finally replaced the parts to stop the leak.

Good service call. Came to repair an old toilet but determined that it had to be replaced. Worked with home warranty company to upgrade their ''standard issue'' replacement toilet, insisting that the toilet being replaced was of much greater quality than the one he was instructed to install. The upgrade was made at no additional cost. Although he had to schedule a second visit to replace the toilet, he came on time and quickly replaced the toilet. All has been flushing well with the new toilet.

Ace's plumber, Corbin Baker, was prompt and polite, and worked with my home warranty company to ensure that payment was made on the parts for which they were responsible. Overall, he was a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him.

Good experience. Quick and complete.

Brett was GREAT! He went out of his way to find me a replacement fan for our aging Air Conditioner unit outside. I will always ask for this company and Brett as our service technician for our AC/Heating repairs! He was honest and gives great advice for taking care of your AC/Heating units.

I was forced to use this company by my home warranty. When the serviceman came out, he had not been told that the problem was the water heater and not a line in the wall as first thought. Not only was he not prepared to do anything with the water heater, my "warranty" company told him they wouldn't cover me, so I paid this company $75 for nothing. When I called the office, the woman said she'd talk to the repair man and get back to me, but never did, and they immediately cashed my check without responding to my request to not be charged. (since NO work was done.)

The workers were clean, punctual, and able to communicate and provide options. I elected to have the faucet replaced, I was given that as one of my options. I will hire Ace again for plumbing work.

On time, polite, stayed with complex job until finished.

GARY MADE A GREAT EFFORT TO REPAIR DUCT WORK THAT WAS IN A LOCATION THAT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET TO. I WAS PLEASED WITH THE REPAIR. I HAVE HAD OTHERS TELL ME THEY COULD NOT HELP. ACE WAS CHOSEN BY MY HOME WARRANTY COMPANY, SO THE $75 I PAID WAS THE DEDUCTIBLE THAT I PAID. I AM NOT SURE OF THE TOTAL CHARGE.

BOBBY WAS THE PLUMBER. HE WAS PROMPT AND PROVIDED A 30 MINUTE CALL AHEAD. HE WAS CORDIAL AND DID EXCELLENT WORK. THE WATER HEATER WAS REPLACED WITHIN 3 HOURS. ACE WORKED DIRECTLY WITH MY HOME WARRANTY COMPANY TO AUTHORIZE THE IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT OF MY WATER HEATER. NO NEED TO WAIT FOR A SECOND SERVICE CALL. THIS WAS EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE.

BRUCE WAS VERY DILIGENT IN EXPLAINING THE WORK HE WAS DOING AND IN EDUCATING ME ABOUT FUTURE WORK THAT MIGHT NEED TO BE DONE. I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH BRUCE AND HIS FIRM, THAT BEFORE HE LEFT I PURCHASED A 'SERVICE' CONTRACT TO HAVE THE MAINTENANCE ON MY AC AND FURNACE DONE TWICE YEARLY! ALL OF ACE'S STAFF HAVE BEEN COURTEOUS, PROFESSIONAL AND WILLING TO WORK WITH MY SCHEDULE TO LIMIT DISRUPTION TO MY JOB.

TWO GENTLEMEN CAME TO MY HOME, ONE WAS AN APPRENTICE (I FOUND OUT BY ASKING HIM). NEITHER GENTLEMAN GAVE HIS NAME NOR IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES AS REPRESENTATIVES OF THE COMPANY. WHEN I OPENED MY DOOR THE ELDEST GENTLEMAN SAID HELLO, AND ASKED ME IF I HAD A LEAKY WATER HEATER. I LOOKED OUT AT THE TRUCK IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE COMPANY NAME ON IT AND PROCEEDED TO SHOW THEM WHERE THE WATER HEATER WAS. THEY HAD PARKED SO CLOSE TO THE GRASS THEY HAD TO WALK IN IT. IN THE PROCESS OF FIXING THE PROBLEM THEY NEEDED TO GO THRU MY GARAGE, BECAUSE THE ROOM IN WHICH THE WATER HEATER IS CONTAINED IS VERY SMALL. WE DISCUSSED DISPOSAL OF THE OLD WATER HEATER (TO BE PICKED UP BY MY GARBAGE CO.). THEY LEFT IT IN THE GRASS BY MY CURB NOT ASKING ME WHERE I WANTED IT. I HAD TO FIND A WAY TO PLACE IN MY GARAGE BY MYSELF (IT WAS VERY HEAVY), BECAUSE NEIGHBORHOOD RULES DO NOT ALLOW ME TO LEAVE IT THERE EXCEPT FOR TRASH PICK-UP. THEY DID NOT LEAVE AN OWNER'S MANUAL OR EXPLAIN THE UNIT TO ME.

THE EMPLOYEE WAS VERY COURTEOUS AND HAD SHOE COVERS TO WEAR INSIDE MY HOME EVEN THOUGH IT ENDED UP HE DID NOT NEED THEM. HE IDENTIFIED HIMSELF AS AN EMPLOYEE AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND PROMPTLY REPAIRED IT. HIS NAME WAS JIM WOEHLRN.
