I had used them for several years for my home and rental houses. They always had done a good job until today. The door on one of my rentals quit working so I called All Star to go take a look. They responded quickly which I appreciated.
I got a call from the tech that he was there and would call me when he figured out what was wrong. Literally 3 minutes later he called and said it was all fixed. The only thing wrong was one of the sensor brackets was bent. I was glad it was something simple.
He told me he would take my card number over the phone, but that he was charging me a 4% fee for using the card. He told me the bill would be $92.00!! I told him to send a bill to my house and that I thought $92.00 for a five minute job was excessive. This is when he came unglued and started yelling at me. He said if I didn't pay he would cut my garage door cables!! I was pretty stunned at this point.
I called my workers at the house and told them to shut the door. They tried to do that but, the tech came running up and stuck his foot under the door and cut the cables. I called the manager at All Star and told him what had just transpired and thinking he would apologize profusely for his employess total lack of simple manners, but my shock and dismay he sided with his tech.
At that point I was done with them. I would have been happy to pay the bill (well not happy, but would have paid it) until he vandalized my property. Not only will they not get paid, but they will lose all future business and referrals. As someone stated earlier their customer service sucks and there are WAY too may other's in this area where one can get this type of work done without being abused.
Use this company at your own peril...
"A service charge of 89$ is standard and the going rate for majority of company’s here in town. Unfortunately even if the problem is a simple repair we still have to charge the service charge or we would simply not be able to stay in business. Residential work is not to be billed COD only. We responded promptly to you’re service request and our technician promptly fixed the issue and invoiced your the minimum service charge 89$ and upon trying to collect you decided that was too much money for what was done and decline paying for the service you requested correct? If our tech damaged you’re property why wasn’t a police report filed? We hope you have better luck with you’re business else where! God bless you."
The work done was fine, but the customer service was just atrocious.
"We are very sorry our services did not meet you’re expectations we do strive to complete every job with 100% customer satisfaction. With 2 of the 4 panels stacked in the opening the storm/rain worsened causing the garage to start flooding more than just a little water our installers took pictures of the work condition they were in and at that time it was decided to be unsafe and to secure opening and pull off job. (Sections had to be clamped down to keep from floating up in tracks) (tools, hardware, top section were covered in water) installers secured all 4 panels in the opening for security and pulled off the job to return the following day to finish. Our tools are always loaded up and never left behind on a job especially one with standing water in the garage. We would of took actions to resolve any issue you may have had promptly and accordingly when you called our office with what you’re claiming was left by an employee of ours until you became irate and cursing at us. In all we are sorry you were not satisfied with our service . I can assure you we greatly appreciate the business we received from you and wish you the best."
After airing tires, I put back compressor, dried off in the garage, and got in my car to leave. The garage door wouldn't go down initially, and then it came off track, because I forgot to move the trash can out of the path of door.... This caused a couple of the wheel pins and one of the tension cables to come off - rendering our door un-level and unable to close... I was able to fix the pins, but not the cable. Being outside of my level of expertise at this point, I needed assistance fast...
Not wanting to leave wife and baby home all day with a wide open garage, I called Royce at A All Star Garage Door, informed him of my dilemma, and he said he'd be right over to fix the door so I could get to work. I found him on Angie's List under "garage doors" and sorted by miles to home. I went with him because he was close and answered right away on my first call.
He was there within 15 minutes. He and an assistant were able to fix the door and make all adjustments so I could get to work quickly. The repair only took about 10 minutes.
They were truly life-savers and I will call them for any future garage door repair/replacement needs.
Thanks for your help, Royce!
