YOUNG ELECTRIC INC

I recently hired Young Electric to do numerous repairs and electric upgrades to my home and while I was satisfied with the work that was performed, I am not satisfied with how they bill their clients. When I called to setup the appointment, I was told they billed $75 for the first hour and $48 for each hour after that. Awesome, I asked them to please send someone out. On the day of my appointment, they arrived 30 minutes late with 3 guys. Only 90 minutes after their arrival when the work had just started, they took off for an hour lunch. I didn't mind this at first as long the work got done until I received my bill. The guys spent no more than 6 hours total at my home, but I was billed for a full 8 hours for each of the guys (24 hours total). The $48 an hour rate I was quoted over the phone is billed *per person*. This detail was not explained when I scheduled the appointment, nor was it clear how many workers would be showing up. What I thought would be a $600 bill was in fact over $1200.00. I also called and asked how they arrived at 8 hours of billed time instead of the 6 hours they actually spent at my home. They said they also billed for "drive time" since they were located in Huntington and my home was in Fort Wayne. If you are going to bill clients extra just for traveling to them, this needs to be disclosed up front, especially at such a steep hourly rate. Billing $144 an hour driving to a client is unacceptable. I will hire locally in Fort Wayne next time if that is the case. Their drive time plus the hour lunch I was also billed for is nearly $300 in billed time that they did not spend doing the actual job I hired them for. In retrospect, had I known I was actually being billed $144 an hour, I would have asked them to be a lot more prompt in getting the work done. Overall, very dissatisfied with what I was billed. I have more work to be done at my home, but I will be looking elsewhere going forward.

We were replacing our old rotten water heater with a new tankless water heater, and we needed professionals to do the electrical work.
We had a great experience with Young Electric before, so we called them for an estimate. They came right out and provided a timely estimate, and we scheduled the work to be done.
Young added two additional double-pull breakers to the breaker box, and ran three sets of #8 wire from the box to the tankless water heater in the pump room. I had already removed and disposed of the old water heater, had the new tankless mounted on the wall and had connected the water lines. Young wired the tankless and checked to make sure everything was working properly.
They did an excellent job in a timely fashion and cleaned up after themselves.
It's a relief to be able to rely on honest, hard-working professionals.

The best contractor we worked with through all of our remodeling. Always prompt, professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Provided good suggestions. Carol, in their office, was great at staying in touch and keeping us informed. Was willing to come back promptly to finish up a couple of things that required some follow up. Would definitely hire them again.

It went well. Tim and Bruce were fantastic. Vey knowledgable, always prompt and courteous, and very accommodating. Carol (in office) was prompt and helpful in setting up appointments and getting my questions answered prior to work being done.

They were experts in their field, performed their job well, cleaned up after themselves, and were very professional. We are very pleased with the work they did and will keep them in mind next time we have more electrical work to be done.

Very well. I have used Dennis several times over the past few years. Exceeded expectations as always. This job took two electricians. They were in and out within 3 hours. All work was top notch and I will be having them back out again here in the near future to do some more work. I can't say enough good things about this company.

Exceeded expectations. Dennis and Tim did an outstanding job and make a great father and son team. I have been using these guys for a few years. They show up on time, are very competent in the trade, take the time to clean up when completed and stand behind their work. I have several projects in mind that I am planning for the next year or two. I have no doubt who will be getting the job when I am ready.

My wife and I bought a house that had a rat’s nest of old cable, satellite and TV antenna wiring in the house and on the outside of the house. We wanted to remove all the old wiring, TV antenna and two old satellite dishes, and then run all new cable throughout the house – thru the attic and inside the walls, old school, like professional wiring. We also wanted to mount and run wiring for SiriusXM radios, and we had a recessed can light that wasn’t working.
We decided to try Young Electric, based on limited reviews, and hope they would do a good job. Tim came out for a walk thru to discuss our wants and provide an estimate for the work. He actually had a clipboard he used to take comprehensive notes on everything we wanted to accomplish. I got the feeling he knew exactly what we wanted, and we were communicating clearly.
They sent an estimate, which we found reasonable, and we scheduled the work. My wife was working at home when they came to do the job, but based upon the notes Tim had, they didn’t really need to bother her or have their hand held. They were quick, efficient, professional, and finished the job in a manner that exceeded our expectations. The also cleaned up after themselves, and didn't leave us any big messes or trash to deal with.
If you’re looking for competence and professionalism, give Young Electric a call. They will certainly be our first call for any electric-based work.

My father had tried to add electrical to the garage. He passed away several years ago and we are now selling the house and wanted to make sure the work he did was up to code. Mr. Young checked it all and stated it was okay. We also had a dining room light which we tried to change without success. Mr. Young installed that for us and only charged us $45.00 for everything. He was very business like and I would definately use him again.

They show up on time and clean up after themselves.

He arrived, correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it promptly.
