The work went very well. As usual, Phil was punctual and professional. His work is always very good. Phil is one of the best carpenters in the area.

This past October he did major repairs on my shed that was damaged by squirrels at roof level and painted it when done. He also resecured a second story downspout, replaced a lattice under my front porch along with two rotting planks. Did a good job at a fair price. He is a slight person with a long beard who knows what he is doing.

I called Phillip and he agreed to swing by my rental property to look at it. He called me when he was at the site and he told me what needed to be done and what he would charge me to do it. One of the nicest people I have met. Nothing false about Phil. I met him at the property and paid him half down on the agreed price. He said it would be done on Sept. 18, 2016 and it was. I again met him at the property and he showed me his work. He also told me how he thought it might work but after taking some of the porch apart to get at the problem, he changed his approach to make the porch attachment to the house even stronger. Didn't charge me any more money either. This guy is an experienced carpenter and has seen just about everything. Money well spent and the job was top notch.

Phillip worked in the hallway for two days filling cracks in the plaster walls before applying the skim coat of drywall. Day two, Phillip had to go over some stress cracks and areas of concern before sanding down everything. He took great care around the wood work and trim for the five doors in the hallway. The final product looks fantastic. I will definitely be referring him to

Mr. Van Prooyen really helped save the day today!!
Bad wind storms have been bringing down fences all around my neighborhood and the wind finally got to my fence. I have an older dog that absolutely has to be fenced in. So of course the fence really starts coming down and on all days a Sunday! There was no way two sections of weak fence were going to make it through the day, just no way. So this was not a good situation!
I hesitantly phoned Mr. Van Prooyen on Sunday and I was pleasantry surprised when he answered right away. I explained the situation and the semi emergency nature. Mr. Van Prooyen packed up his tools and lumber and came right over!! I was simply amazed. This gentleman truly cared which is something I really don't see in the service industry anymore, this blew me away!
So he was in my driveway within the hour. Got right to work and did an awesome job.The price for a Sunday emergency service was completely reasonable.
Thank you again Sir!  I look forward to working with you in the near future.

Mr. Van Prooyen was hired to replace my broken ceiling fan with a brand new one. As the old saying goes "if things could go wrong they sure did." and Mr Van Prooyen  did not let this hamper him. He did an excellent job and I would highly recommended him. My dad's new ceiling fan works great. Thanks Mr. Van Prooyen.

I needed a handyman.carpenter to repair some interior plywood decking, a threshold and exterior wood trim around a window.  I checked Angie's List and was pleasantly surprised to see that Mr. Van Prooyen was a carpenter/handyman.  Mr. Van Prooyen did a lot of drywall work for me last year and I was quite happy with his work. I contacted him on Friday, March 13 and he agreed to come out on Sunday, March 15 to look at the job.  I hired him on the spot and he agreed to come out Tuesday to perform the work for $250 plus materials.
He came out about 30 minutes early  - which was OK, since he started ripping out the bad exterior lumber immediately.  He had to make an extra trip to the lumber yard to get some additional lumber and a doorbell, and I had to make a trip to the hardware store to get some weather stripping for my front door.  
The work was completed within four hours and it looks great.  He used good quality lumber around the exterior window, and I will need to paint it once the weather gets warmer.  The floor looks good.  I'm having new flooring installed on Thursday, March 19, and needed the repair before then.  

My experience with him went very well. He was very punctual and polite. He was on time. I can't say enough good things about him. He's very responsible and on top of things, if I had a problem or question. He's very knowledgeable.

Phillip was very professional and came in and did a great job for us.  He cut out drywall and replaced and mudded the walls.  He also hung 2 new doors for me as well as cut down some bar doors that did not fit after having carpet and padding put down.  I will recommend Phillip to family and friends and plan on using him in the future for projects at my home.

Mr. Van Prooyen and the painter he hired did a fantastic job. I signed the contract around April 25th. Mr. Van Prooyen started work around May 7th and finished the job in 4 work days. After taping, mudding, and painting, the basement looked great and like brand new - I was amazed that both the horizontal and vertical seams were not visible at all.
Also, the painter, Tom Mangold, saw that a ceiling tile and a wall divider on the first floor needed to be touched up. He just went ahead and did the work and did not charge me for it. He also painted the entire stairway, including the ceiling, up to the first floor, not just the affected area.
Analyzing the cost, the project came to about $9 per square foot, or $55 per man hour, including materials. Both numbers seem a little high, but had the affected area been less than 2', the time, labor, and materials would have been much less. Furthermore it was the best bid I could get - and these two guys were very professional, friendly, diligent, and worth every penny.
The only thing I was not happy with is that the dry wall needed to be cut in the basement. I had some furniture and personal property down there. I had wished that he had advised me to cover these items before he started working. As a result, they were covered with drywall dust.

Phil and his assistant built a 16'x12' deck off the back of my house. He also placed trim around the interior and exterior of french door leading to the deck. He arrived promptly everyday at 8am and also came out on the weekend to finish up. The $2000 cost was for labor only. I supplied all materials for the project. Phil was very professional, polite and honest. Phil has 39 years of experience and it shows with the quality and craftsmanship of his work. I highly recommend Phil VanProoyen and will be calling him for future projects.

Mr Van Prooyen was excellent in all phases. Returned my call to schedule an estimate promptly. Arrived on time on date of estimate. We scheduled a time for the repair work and again he was on time. The work done was excellent. I could not have been happier with Phil and the work that he did. The next time I need something done I cannot do myself he will be the first person I call. I highly recommend Phil Van Prooyen.
