They know us pretty well and provide excellent service! They know what they are doing and are familiar with our pool. They are good people and I like going to their new store. Their pricing is reasonable and they always give us a good price. They would never overcharge! They are very knowledgeable and if they needed any other expertise, they went out and got it.

Response from Underwater Unlimited
"In response to consumer: 1.) How can you possibly know when once in a while you might run out of something? No matter how hard you try to keep stock there are times when a vendor, where you get your merchandise, is simply out. We are sorry that this was such an upset over a $5.00 item. 2.) The person that was on staff that day is a college student and is fairly new. She follows all protocol to the T. If the manager has to step out for a minute this person is on point with everything she does. Every employee at every place of business cannot be a long seasoned person. People have to start somewhere with training or we would never have new people learning anything, anywhere. Our company prides itself on the training of its people. There are tests that must be passed to even be out on the floor. That employee did exactly as she's been instructed. What amazes me is that someone would waste time out of their day to write about something so absolutely ridiculous. I'm also completely baffled by the impatience of people and the tirades they throw over nothing. I simply can't understand this thinking process."

Underwater Unlimited repaired our water heater as warranty stated. The water heater is now working. The cost to us was $0.00.

Thank you Angie?s List, without the wonderful mediation of Stephanie Berg, we would still have a pool heater that was not working.

Response from Underwater Unlimited
"In response to customer's resolution on heater. Underwater Unlimited was not at fault for the failure of this heater. A representative of Raypak came down to inspect the heat exchanger and deemed it totally destroyed by poor water chemistry. Extreme low pH and Alkalinity as well as high chlorine levels can ruin a heater in less than 3 days. The customer's chemistry when checked by Underwater Unlimited showed major issues with their chemistry. We have documentation on this. The owner spoke with the customers about our concern for their pH, Alkalinity levels. It was also followed up with a letter and a copy of the lab results on their readings. The heater was found not under warranty and failed because of chemistry issues. Underwater Unlimited lost a lot of revenue due to this complaint. This is a deplorable example of consumers using the system in a negative fashion to receive free goods."

From my first phone call to the time the service technician left my house I was very pleased with Underwater Unlimited. It was the moment I got a call from the owner and my follow up call where everything went sour. I'll make my summary quick and highlight the key mistakes they made. First they quoted my one price and said it included all service fees and once I got a call from the owner asking for my credit card information the fees where nearly 20% higher than the original quote. She went on to tell me how hard it was to replace the light and proceeded to justify the increased fee. I communicated my dissatisfaction from "the consumers" point-of-view about being told a flat fee structure than charging hourly fees.  Had I known this, I would have shopped around, but I was happy with the treatment up to collections. She went on to tell me how they had to pick up the light from their distributor on the way to my house and that she wasn't "charging me for that". I viewed this as cost of doing business; she viewed it as a favor. She than said she would take $100 off the price to which I refused and said I wasn't looking for a handout. We settled on removing the trip charge of $45 dollars. This is really important to the story because we REMOVED the $45 trip charge. Fine. Settled. At this point, I was still satisfied with the company regardless of this miscommunication.
A couple day went by and my wife noticed brown "dirt-like" smears on the steps where the technician did his patch. In addition, our pool is slowly losing water which the technician said often times happens with these type of lights. When he was there before, He used an epoxy to plug the channel for the light cord and I was concerned that the "plug" wasn't working. After I unsuccessfully tried to wash the smears off with chlorine. I decided to call them and ask them to come take care of the smears and check the light. I get a call from an employee to say they'd be happy to come out but it will include the trip fee and service charges. Of course after paying $640.00 and getting stained steps and another leak, I'm not thrilled to be charged. She begins to tell me that nothing is guaranteed and that I live an hour and a half away. It's 32 minutes via Google maps, I checked. So I asked the cost of the trip charge and she tells me its $55. Wait a minute, I thought, why is the fee $45 when you are removing my from my bill but $55 when you're adding to it. I proceed to communicate my concern with the adjusting fees and the lady says she doesn't see the point in "arguing over $5". I inform her that it's actually $10 and her disregard for other peoples money isn't my point of frustration. By this point I'm checked out because I realize I'm going to be paying for this again. She offers to have the owner call me back which I respectfully decline telling her I don't think we're "compatible". I'm sure they're really good to people in Greenwood, but if you live 32 minutes?I mean an hour and a half away, they'll hold it against you.

Response from Underwater Unlimited
"In response to [removed member name]: Our company went to try and repair a precarious problem at the step and light on [removed member name] swimming pool. Our senor technician spent extra time with [removed member name] in trying to solve his issues. The light required extra time and attention which was given. The owner spoke with [removed member name] after all paperwork was turned in and did try to remove $100.00 from his bill which he refused. At the time of the conversation he was only upset at the $45.00 trip fee. It was our error that the trip charge wasn't mentioned and not everyone in our store knows the rates. They vary depending on where we are driving to. We did remove the trip fee of $45.00 and he agreed that was fair. In regards to the staining of the pool we spoke with our technician. He did not recall any stains. [removed member name] was told that we would look at it and try to remove it. Stains in general can occur from many things. When you pull out a light there is always algae on both the light and inside the niche. This very well could have caused such stain to get into the water. All adhesives we use are white. We are not sure how dirty hands under water could cause staining as [removed member name] mentioned but we were willing to take a look and clean it up if we could. [removed member name] repair to his light was far from normal. We did not know that before showing up. We were also not aware of somone prior to us patching his light and we had to work around that problem first. A typical light takes 30 minutes to perform, [removed member name] light took over an hour. This was an unfortunate problem that was out of our control. Our senior technician is very good at his job. [removed member name] said he appreciated all the extra time the technician spent. In fact, [removed member name] exact words to the technician was, "I really appreciate all your attention to detail." Our tech also walked around his home looking for electrical issues. The tech was going above and beyond trying to troubleshoot a separate problem. It is terrible that [removed member name] gave the technician a D for quality. That is not the truth. We understand [removed member name] does not want to pay another trip charge of $45.00, the correct price for his location. We are not certain that he doesn't have another problem altogether, which would incur a new trip fee. The roundtrip to his home took our technician 1hr 30 minutes. There is no straight shot from Greenwood to Geist Reservoir. If we would have been allowed to come back to his property and found errors on our end the only charge [removed member name] would receive is the trip fee. That fee may have been revoked altogether depending on what we found. Many times when we are called out to perform services, other problems arise that have nothing to do with the reason we are there. Unfortunately we cannot always convey that to paying homeowners. Swimming pools are costly to maintain. There are many expensive parts involved and we know that can put a strain on people's finances. We have always maintained fair rates as well as resolving issues with customers in a timely manner. We would prefer to resolve these issues more privately rather than on Angie's List. Defacing companies due to miscommunication and human error truly hurts business. Everyone's situation and personalities are different. [removed member name] severed the business relationship without giving us a chance to come look at his said problems with our service."

Being able to get a late date for closing our pool helpful, we wanted to swim as long as possible but were unsure of when the pool needed to be closed if we didn't want to use it all winter.  They have always been friendly and helpful on the phone, even to the point calling back at a later time/date if someone special needed to be consulted.  We are first time pool owners and were not exactly wanting a pool but it came with the house we loved so we became "forced" pool owners.  A pool is a wonderful luxury but takes a lot of care.  I feel we are lucky to have found Underwater Unlimited.  They are professional, personable, informative and a pleasure to employ (this is the 3rd pool service we have tried and have found Underwater Unlimited to be the most reliable, professional, honest and informative).  They came to close our pool and did an inspection of our pool equipment (heater, etc.).   They cleaned and tested the pool.  They discovered problems and explained what was needed to maintain the correct chemical balance in our pool and why this was so important.  They are returning to replace some problematic valves.  They explained what they were doing and why, it felt good to learn more about our pool. Thanks to their visit we will become better pool owners.  And with their continued service our pool will be in much better condition and have less problems.

I go to Underwater Unlimited for all of my pool needs.  They are knowledgeable and professional.  When I don't listen to them I end up spending twice as much as I would have if I would have listened to them in the first place!  Meghan Jansen is wonderful (I hope I spelled her name correctly).  They changed the sand in my filter which is the cost that I quoting here.  They showed up on time and changed it perfectly.  I was a little surprised at the bill when I received it because it was approximately $100.00 more than I was expecting.  It turned out that there were broken parts inside that needed to be replaced.  When this was explained to me I was OK with it because I trust them.  I provided feedback that I wished they would have called me first before they changed it and they understood but the nature of the service really wouldn't have supported that direction as they don't know things are broken until they actually get in there and by that time they have to fix the problem.  They were receptive and agreed that in the future perhaps a call to the owner to warn them that they bill is going to be higher would be better than just getting it in the mail.

Mark showed up promptly, and gave me "pool 101" pool instruction, as I have never owned a pool. He was very thorough, and I felt he was very knowledgable and professional. He then completed the first of my weekly pool maintenance visits. They have been coming weekly to clean the pool and check the chemistry, and the pool is doing great. They make owning a pool hassle free. I will continue to use them.

I think the one thing they did do this summer that stands out is that this summer when I was trying to get my pool chemistry under control they said that they could sell me a bunch of chemicals or I could flush my pool and start over.  That as impressive that they could have given me an option where I was spending a bunch of money with them but they didn't do that.  They were very honest.  I think they are kind of expensive but good.

They were a little rude due to the timeliness circumstances. The work was great.
Response from Underwater Unlimited
"In that time of the year, literally hundreds of service calls waiting to be done, we try our best to be as timely as possible. Sometimes our arrival is not as quick as some would like. We do take calls in the order they come and attack them one by one in that order. We hope this doesn't inconvenience people when we get there, the quality is our focus."

This is one of those rare quality companies that you come across which make you say, where have they been all this time?! As newer pool owners, repeated bad experiences with two local pool companies led us to Underwater Unlimited. The advice that we were given (at no charge) was exactly what was needed to correct the problems that our previous pool company not only created, but was unable to address.

Instead of telling us that the sky was falling and that we needed thousands of dollars in chemicals and service, Underwater Unlimited gave us simple instructions which absolutely worked and didn't cost us a dime. Their advice did not include expensive chemicals or trucked-in pool water - it was easy to follow and cost us nothing. It was absolutely the correct (and honest) solution to our problem.

We are now customers of Underwater Unlimited and we will absolutely use them for all of our pool and spa needs, including chemicals and service. We are looking forward to working with Underwater Unlimited and we highly recommend them to pool and spa owners. They are terrific to deal with and they make owning a pool easy and fun, which is what it is supposed to be!

I have a driving time, it takes them about forty minutes to get here. Living here where I do it could be difficult. It varies because it depends on what the pool needs at the time they do it. Basic cleaning, when it doesn’t need anything is $36 but if it needs paid stuff and algae stuff the price is added on to it. I would use their services again in the future. They are coming tomorrow. I have them in the summer on a weekly basis. My husband is specially abled and I’m old. I can’t understand chemical dipping and looking at stuff.

No other service was willing to move us "to the front of the list" let alone, offer service on Saturday of a holiday weekend! We received a call confirming our appointment this morning and the technician arrived on time. He was well-equipped and thorough in his inspection -- both above and below the water line. He found the leak in short order and had the materials necessary to plug it on hand. He also checked the entire liner for any other leaks and repaired a small hole he found about the water line just in case it might widen later. Great job; nice folks; very responsive; got right to work and knew what they were doing!

I called them on Saturday morning at about 9:30. He said that he would be out in half an hour to check the size of the motor, but couldn?t guarantee me that they would be able to do the work on that day. He was out in half an hour and looked at it. He said he would be out that afternoon to put it in. The man was there at 11 o?clock in the morning and was done by noon. I was pleased as my pool wasn?t looking so good before. His price was reasonable.

We are currently very happy with their service as they always know who we are and what our pool is like. The one thing I won't forget is how they called us the day following those big floods last year and warned us about pumping the water off our pool because if we had done it the normal way we would have floated our liner. We would have done exactly that if they hadn't called and it would have cost a fortune. That one call just shows that they do care about their customers because they would have profited from people making those big mistakes and they wanted us to avoid it. I think that says something about a company.

With the heavy rains in June, our pool cover held enough water to displace our vinyl liner. I called UU and asked about fixing it. Even with their heavy workload, someone came over the next day and fixed it by tucking it back in place and even inserted a liner lock! Short notice, quick response, high quality, and low price. How can you go wrong with that?

They do a great job and Dave, the owner, is also great. He recommended us to get a salt system so we bought one. It kept the PH level perfect all summer long and it also makes your skin soft, unlike chlorine. This is the best thing that we could have done for our pool. They are also family owned and operated.

Great! Dave & company are great to deal with. It took me awhile to find a reliable/reputable pool service company, but I have definitely found one! In addition, this past year I had them open the pool and I spent the least amount of money on chemicals and maintenance. They have seen it all when it comes to pools/spas so they are a great source of knowledge.
