They were very quick with getting them done and very nice. Their pricing, however, is very high. Too high for me to return back and I will need a lot of alterations in the future.
Description of Work: They altered two suits (pants and sleeves) that I had bought from Target. I spent more on alterations than I did on both suits.

Our new puppy tore to shreds my wife's teddy bear from childhood. Took it to the Sewing Lady in shambles, and they were able to bring Teddy back to life, looking better than before the vicious attack. The Sewing Lady was very friendly, did great work, and did it in half the time expected. Thank you Sewing Lady!!

I did not hear from her for some weeks so emailed her to ask how things were going. She said she was very busy and would not have the shades done by Thanksgiving. I told her OK, no problem, but would they be done by early December. She said she would have them then. After no word from her for about 10 days, I contacted her and she said that her father had had health problems and required her to take care of him so she was behind and would not be able to sew the shades after all. She had no one else to recommend so I had no shades for Christmas. Had to drive back down to the shop. There were two young women working in the shop, they pointed to my fabric when I arrived. I picked it up and left. Not a word of apology for all the incovenience. I understand that things happen within one's family and health issues, especially, cannot be predicted; however, I felt the entire transaction was not handled professionally. Diana may be an excellent seamstress, I do not know; however, be sure to find out from her whether she anticipates completing the job and/or will have another seamstress to recommend should she be unable to complete the task.
Description of Work: I visited the Sewing Lady, Diana, in her shop and showed her my bolt of fabric to be used to make 2 Roman shades. She agreed that she could do this and I left.

I had contacted Diana vie email and asked her if she could make a product similar to my canine son's commerical drag bag, and sent her pictures of the product. She said she would need to see them both in person. On Saturday, February 1, 2014, I took my handicapped canine son in his wheelchair and his drag bag into her shop. she said she could make the custom product that I wanted for $10 more than the commercial price, but since it was going to be custom, I thought it was worth it. She said she would have it ready to pick up in 2 weeks, and charged my credit card right there. (I should have known at the time that was trouble.) At two weeks (14 days), I contacted her about picking it up, but she said it wasn't ready. At 19 days, she STILL didn't have it done. She said it was harder than she thought it would be. I sent her an email Sunday night that I had to pick up the bag Monday, 23 days, because my "son" really needed his bag, and if she couldn't have it ready I was going to have to buy the commercial product and do a charge back on my card. I never heard from her. Monday evening I bought the commercial versions. Now i'm trying to deal with my credit card company to get my money back. DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN if you expect to get your product in the time she promises.
Description of Work: She did NOT make the product she said she would when she said she would.

The results are outstanding and the quality is superb! The total job took only four fittings scheduled one week apart. Kim and her staff were very professional, extremely knowledgable and very personable. I would highly recommend The Sewing Lady to anyone needing sewing and alteration services.
Description of Work: The Sewing Lady altered my friend's wedding gown so that her daughter can wear it for her wedding coming up in June, 2014. She adjusted the fit of bodice, removed a stain from front of skirt, repaired ties for bustle, removed long sleeves and replaced with cap sleeves, redesigned the headpiece and added a row of pearls to the bottom of the veil.

He recently lost a fair amount of weight and the sport coats were swimming on him. For the price he now has three like new jackets and two slacks and all done in a one week. Way faster than I expected. A few weeks earlier she made two sofa arm covers and three pillows to match an ottoman. WE are new in the area and were so thrilled to find someone to do this for us. Everything looks great and pulls the room together. We will definitely be using The Sewing Lady when we need such things in the future.

I called on a Friday and dropped the coat off same day. When I dropped the coat off, she was busy with a customer so an assistant took the coat and my information. The assistant didn't seem to know much of what was going on, said she didn't need me to try it on for her, and was not able to tell me how much the alteration would be. She called me the next Thursday to let me know the coat was finished, and I picked it up the next day. She was extremely nice and sweet and seems to have done a fine job on the coat. I thought $38 was really steep for the alteration, but maybe I am just not sure how much these things should cost. I would use her again because she was very nice and seems to have done a fine job. However, because of the experience when I dropped off the coat and what seems like a very high price, I had to give a B rating.

The seamstress was very responsive when I went to her shop. She measured the pants; one needed a hem and one needed to be altered. She told me they would be ready one week later. I went back to pick up the pants and she still had then in a stack of work to do. She said she would have them completed the first of the following week. She called to tell me they were ready. I objected that she didn't call and tell me the pants were not ready the first time and saved me a trip. Seemed poor management. She did a nice job and I would use her again, but would hesitate if there is a deadline .

I do not have a typical body shape (big shoulders/chest, slightly more athletic from the waist down), so I needed a few small alterations performed on a custom suit I had ordered online. Other places I went in the city spent a lot of time trying to tell me what was wrong, not to mention being rather stuffy. As soon as I walked in to The Sewing Lady it was clear they ready to help. The lady I dealt with made me feel at ease. She had me try on the suit and tell her what I wanted done. She told me what she could do, and even made a few suggestions that were right on point. I was on a little bit of a time crunch, and it was not a problem for her at all. She did a great job with the alterations, and I could not believe how inexpensive it was. I plan on going back for any future needs.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Kim and her two daughters are very professional and do great work. They are also terrific people. I brought my alterations in on Friday; they were ready on Monday. My grandmother was a seamstress, and I know quality sewing when I see it. I'm so glad to have found this place; I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I needed to have two new pairs of pants hemmed. I took them to The Sewing Lady who said she could complete the work in a week. I forgot I was going out of town and wanted to have one of the pairs of pants a day early. She completed the alterations for both pairs early, and the work was great. I had pinned them to the length I wanted, and she hemmed them to the perfect length. She was very friendly, personable, and professional. The shop is neat and orderly on the inside, and she has a private area in the back where you can try on your clothes.

They are so delightful. I was worried that the alterations won't be done in time for my trip, but Kim didn't cease to impress me. She had all the alterations done in 2 days. The shirts and the coat feel better on me now then they did in the past. I'm definitely going to be looking sharp for my trip. I highly recommend them.
