PAVECO ASPHALT

On 9-15, Paveco Asphalt came to our home to give us an estimate on paving our driveway. We also, on that day, had 4 other companies at our home for their proposals. Paveco came in with the lowest price at $2142.50. We received a call from a man named Pete on Sunday 9-21, around 12:30 PM. He was wanting to know if we had not yet had the driveway paved, he would like to make us a "better deal." We played phone tag for a few days and finally on Thursday 9-25, my husband and him talked. My husband told him that we did not have it paved yet and asked what the "better deal" was. Pete told my husband that he could do the driveway for $1600.00. We were very excited about the offer. He said that he would be here on Monday the 29th or Tuesday the 30th. My father-in-law is paying to get our driveway paved as a x-mas gift and also so our kids can play basketball on a flat surface. Monday came and nobody showed or called. My husband called them and the lady on the other end said it would be Wednesday due to the weather.(We had beautiful weather all week). Wednesday came and nobody showed nor called once again. My husband again called and the lady told him they would definitely be at our home on Thursday 10-2-2008. I called from work to see how things were going and my husband tells me that nobody called or showed up again. I called and told the lady that they were supposed to be at my house paving my driveway. She acted surprised that they were not there. I told her she needed to call my husband (I was still at work). She did call my husband and told him that they could not do our driveway for the $1600.00 price. According to their homepage on the internet this is what is stated: "Most asphalt contractors estimate your driveway in a plus or minus guide. A little hint, it's never minus! Not at Paveco, no surprises, the price we agree upon is the price you pay not a penny more." Now, my father-in-law brought us up the $1600.00 so we would have it for the job. Can you explain to me why they do not stand behind what they write in their guarantee? My father-in-law was going to pay the 2142.50 to have our driveway paved, but then came the "better deal." I felt it was important that people should know how this company treated my family. Pete won't even return our phone call from Thursday. They also will not respond to our email that we sent them. YOU SHOULD CHANGE YOUR QUOTE UNDER RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAYS!! PAVECO ASPHALT, YOU DO NOT FOLLOW ANYTHING THAT IS WRITTEN.
