Northpoint Heating and Air Conditioning LLC

A couple years ago I had Williams Comfort Air out to service my heat pump because it wasn't warming the house. The technician (both verbally and in writing) indicated that the unit was shot (that the air compressor, condenser, and fan motor were out).  Even the written estimate indicated that full parts replacement was close to the same price as a brand new unit replacement. Either way, the service/replacement was going to cost between $5200 and $5600.  
Finding it odd that all three parts would fail simultaneously, I decided to call a smaller business (without all the overhead that a more commercial servicer has to make up for).  On the intranet at my place of employment under classifieds was an entry for heating and air that the owners wife had put up for him to solicit him some business.  I had never heard of the company but then again, that's the sort of company I was looking for.  I called him that day and if I remember correctly he came out that next day.
He rang the doorbell and when I answered the door and allowed he and his partner to step inside he had already troubleshooted the problem since the unit was on the side of my house!  $350!  In fact he informed me that I could further save myself $125 by not replacing the contact pad because that wasn't the source of the problem - but he suggested that I do so cause he felt that within a few months I probably would be needing him to come back out to replace it.  Done deal!  Just had saved myself $5000!  I later received the near $100 diagnostic fee I paid out to Williams Comfort Air after I called and complained.
Had an indoor capacitor issue back in Nov of 2012 and had him come out to replace and for $159 he replaced it and sold me a summer AC tune up to use this summer which he just performed today.  Again, he could have sold me $500 worth of Freon and retrofitting for the newer EPA standard Freon for my system, but suggested that given the age of my unit I would likely be better off saving my money, paying a slightly higher AC bill this summer, and allocating the money to a newer unit sometime in the future.

We were referred to Northpoint by a friend after our furnace failed during a blizzard. We had placed a claim with our home warranty company but the assigned contractor was not able to get out to repair our furnace due to the weather. We spoke with Michael at Northpoint and he was more than willing to come out and help us. He repaired our furnace quickly and was extremely professional and courteous. He seemed quite knowledgeable about his work and explained the problem to us in a way we understood. I highly recommend Northpoint!
