This has been the most difficult person/service to rate but am going to do the best I can here to give a full picture. I needed a screen repaired on my porch door and met with Ray who said he could do for 65 dollars plus 10-15 for screen. We agreed he would come fix on Tuesday. He did show up on Tuesday but did not fix the door- he took it away with him. This was not discussed so I was thrown but figured maybe he had to take home for tools or take to store to match something or what not. Did not hear from him all day- when contacted him that evening around 7pm he said an emergency came up and he would have the door done and back late morning on Wednesday. According to a neighbor he did not show up to my house until a little after noon. That being said I have since seen the door and it does look like he did a good job with the door so no issue there. Next issue was the bill. He then proceeds to tell me that I owe $125 quite higher than agreed on. At first stating it was supplies so I asked what supplies cost planning on of course wanting receipt. He then says it took him two hours to do instead of the expected one hour. He never called to tell me it would take longer and be more than expected. I would have said no as I could have just bought a new door for that much. I double checked the paperwork of estimate and it clearly states 65 dollars plus supplies . (it was 18 for screen and 7 for chord which he didn't tell me it needed or that he was going to add to the cost) All that being said I will of course not hire him again. If whomever reads this does I will say the work he did was fine but make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing and constantly check up on him to make sure nothing is going to change. Plus be very clear about him doing the work at your home in front of you. Its really too bad the lack of honesty was here as I was looking for a long term person to do work for me and had a list of things was going to have him do.

"The first job that [removed member name] hired me to do was to stop a leak in her glass shower door that was soaking her carpet. The repair was done on time and successfully which she has failed to mention. The second Job Miss [removed member name] hired me to do was to replace the screen at the bottom of her screen door do to squirrel or animal damage. I try to schedule handyman type jobs together in blocks as to not waste an entire day on one small job. When I got the door back to my shop and started to remove the bottom section of the door , the top section was rotten to a point the screen was falling apart. I wasn't going to return the screened door without it being 100% perfect. The roll of screen I had to buy was enough to do the entire door and I also had to purchase rubber cord to install the screen tightly. I explained to Miss [removed member name] at the start that I charge $65 per hour plus materials and felt positive it would take only 1 hour to replace the bottom section . The top section is what took a second hour. By all rights I could have charged her for 2 hours plus materials but I didn't. The original bill was 2 hrs at $65 plus $30 in materials. The total coming to $160. I charged Miss [removed member name] only $125.00, that is a $35 savings from the terms she agreed on at the beginning. When my company buys materials then I keep the receipt for tax purposes, when the homeowner makes the trip out and supplies the materials then they have the right to the receipts . I supplied the materials for her jobs. Lastly I told her I would have her door finished and reinstalled late morning, I returned with the door at 12:07 and was gone by 12:15. I didn't believe for a minute that I was being watched to the minute what time I arrived and finished. All this for being charged $30 more for a job that was well worth the money. My track record of straight "A's" being tainted and my company being run thru the trash heap over $30 especially when the job has been completed 100% right is unjust and Miss [removed member name] should have taking a little longer to think of how fortunate she is to have received approximately a 20% reduction in cost. Then to top it all off I received a check in the mail for $90.00 not even paying me what I was trying to be fair with. The only part of this that I could have done differently was to not take the door to my shop and repaired it onsite. Lucky for me I didn't do that in this instance because I had another job that day that I did make full estimated price on so I didn't loose money and business twice in the same day! I will end with, Miss [removed member name] I have the right under Indiana Law to file a mechanics lean against your property for the $30 you still owe my company. I am not willing to donate any more time and money towards your need for saving $30. We are truly sorry for your unhappiness with the performance of our company but in my professional opinion and having 16 years experience in estimating all types of jobs there is nothing I could have done to avoid this situation."

We discused what I wanted. He came back with a plan that we agreed on. He and his crew did the work. I have used him a couple of times for some small things. Like installing a couple of sump pumps. Did a great job.

Ray did a decent job on the pocket doors but had someone else to install the bathtub and they did not do a good job.
I am still waiting (12/08/2013) for a paid invoice and also receipts for supplies that I paid for.
Never received the paperwork I asked for.

I called him on Thursday and we scheduled the appointment for Friday. He arrived early and got right to work. The job took all of 15 minutes, but he treated us like we were a top notch customer. I will be calling him again for any and all future home repair needs.

Ray having done some emergency work for us on the foundation header when our patio was replaced, at the time informed us that there was problems with the slider door (which we already knew about but did not understand why we were having the problems). When we decided what type of new door to get for the family room, Ray met us at the store to make sure we were getting the product we needed and the correct size, etc. On the day it was scheduled to be installed, he picked up the door himself, removed the old door and made all the needed repairs, installed the new door, hauled away the old door and all the packaging etc that came with the new door. He was quick and his team was very professional. We watched him as he carefully made sure that the work was top quality in the installation and that there would be no surprises down the road. We will use him again on other projects we have in mind for 2013.

We were having a patio replaced. The cement contractor discovered after removing the old cement that there was some structural damage to the house that needed immediate attention before they poured the cement the next day at noon. We did not have a contractor who did this work. The cement contractor recommended Raymond Meredith and he called him for us. Ray got up from his dinner table to come look at the work. Not only did he give us an estimate, he was able to come the next morning at 8:00 am and do the work. The work was completed in time before the cement arrived for the patio. I was so impressed with Ray because I told him that I did not want just a "get by" job, but one that had to last for good. Ray is of like mind. As a result we plan on using him to do some other work we have elsewhere in house. Wonderful job, great price, and I especially like his ability to explain things, and communicate all that he has done.

Called Ray on Monday afternoon to see if he was able to install two sump pumps. He said he could. The next morning he was here took him about and hour and had both pumps in and running. Ouststanding job and service...........

Ray came out and did the estimate the same day I called him. Per our agreement he order material. He selected and supervised the placement of material at the job site. He discussed with me in detail what his goals were for each days work. When problems came up Ray discussed them with me to get a complete decision as to how my wife and I wanted it done. Ray is very detailed oriented. I would recommend him for work. I am planing on using him again in the future.

It went very well. We met him at our neighbors while he was installing a privacy fence and in talking with him discovered that he has many construction related skills. His crew showed up on time and worked every day. He understood what we wanted and that couldn't have been easy because we had no plans for him to look at, this was all designed by my husband and he didn't draw it out he simply explained what he wanted and how he wanted it to look. He also made many changes throughout the project but it was never a problem and he didn't add any charges for the changes as most contractors do.
