Jerry Allen - Chimney & Masonry Repair

Finding someone that not only has the skills, experience, and also cares about their work from using the right material, building with quality and cleanup is hard to find here in Clarksville. Believe me when I say this because I've built multiple homes from the ground up hiring many contractors. Jerry is one of those talented masons I will hire again and refer to every friend and neighbor. When no one else would repair and rebuild my driveway drainage walls because it wasn't a huge job - Jerry did - and he did an excellent job. It actually looks better than it was before it was damaged. My deposit was normal for any construction work, he showed up when he said he would, stayed as long as it took to get the job done, and it was cleaner afterwards then when he started. And he took the time to find the brick "I liked", not just any brick he found to rush the job. And his quote was the best I've ever seen over 40+ years of hiring contractors. He outlined every step of the job, including the materials. There was no guessing or assuming. Jerry Allen is an excellent mason!

Jerry is very responsive and informative in all aspects of chimney repair and replacement. He assessed my chimney based on interior leaks and determined that missing, loose mortar, brick spalling and cracks could not be repaired and require replacement on this 65yr old chimney. He sources matching texture brick that would work with my painted brick home. He completed all the work in orderly manner. Maintained an orderly work site and was careful of planting and the black roof. Happy to work with Jerry and can recommend.

I recommend Jerry for masonry repair. Jerry repaired cracks in my outside of my brick home. He replaced bricks and tuckpointed. Although the brick could not be exactly matched, Jerry did well in finding bricks that are very close and look very good. On my chimney, he repaired damaged joints and installed a concrete cap. All work was done in a professional and workmanlike manner. Jerry communicated very well from the estimate through completion of the work.

Very pleased with Jerry's work. He did a great job matching our brick which was difficult to do. The cost was the same as the estimate (no hidden fees). He left the job clean and even left us a few of the old and new bricks. The new chimney looks great!

Jerry did a FANTASTIC job! This was a difficult repair on many levels, as the shutters had been attached for 14 years, the mounting blocks were mortared into the facade, and the original stone style wasn’t made any longer. Jerry carefully and precisely chiseled around the blocks and got them removed cleanly. He was able to find a stone style that matched very closely, and carefully arranged the sizes and colors so that they blended seamlessly with the original stone. It is literally indistinguishable that there were ever shutters or eight large voids after their removal. Masonry is truly an art and it’s extremely difficult to find highly skilled contractors. I would definitely recommend Jerry Allen for ANY masonry project!

Jerry did an wonderful job from start to finish. Very reasonable on price. He had a helper that was just as respectful as he was, the timeline for getting the job done was reasonable and clean up was better than I expected. I would highly recommend him as a individual.

I highly recommend Jerry Allen. He recently replaced the bricks on the chimney of my home. From the day he came to give me an estimate to the last day on the job, he was very professional and attentive to the project. He treated my home as if it were his home. He protected the space around the work area, kept the yard picked up, and most importantly, did an AWESOME job! I also commend him for the way he handled any concerns of mine. He not only listened without making excuses or getting defensive, he took care of things immediately. I find that good communication is key to having a good experience with any project. Jerry is kind, professional, receptive and a perfectionist with his work...definitely someone you can trust to do a great job!

He came and looked at the stone wall. There were a few places where the existing mortar was cracked or missing. I asked him if he could get the mortar color close to the existing mortar on the wall and he said that he could. Then he went away to get the supplies that he needed and came back about an hour later and did the work. I felt that I could trust him since he said he had many years of experience as a mason. Unfortunately, the color of the mortar that he mixed up wasn't a good match to the existing mortar (see pictures) and now I have to go to the trouble of painting over his mortar so it isn't such an eyesore. I feel that he should have initially made up several mortar samples using different concentrations of a black or brown dye (like Home Depot sells) so that he could get a reasonable color match.

Very good and professional work

Jerry did an excellent job of cutting out and replacing deteriorated bricks and tuck pointing the chimney. He was very responsive to my phone calls and text messages. He was actually able to come out the same day to give me an estimate and had my chimney repaired within a week. Would definitely recommend and hire again.

Jerry is a complete professional - and went out of his way to inform and guide me through the process. His quality was first rate. Please note, the software insists I list a price; I entered “0”, because I consider that info private. Suffice to say I found Jerry to be very cost effective and worth every penny I paid him.

Jerry was excellent. I would highly recommend him. I called him on the Friday of Labor Day weekend and he went out the next day to look at the project and give me a quote. In less than a week, the work was done and he went above and beyond in doing the repairs.

Jerry responded immediately to my call for an estimate to repair cracks in mortar of my stone exterior, came out that afternoon to give me an estimate, and emailed the proposal later that evening. The price was very reasonable and the work was scheduled for the next week. Jerry and Priscilla did an excellent job on the tuck point repair, doing even more than I had expected. Jerry did an amazing job. I had repair work done on our front brick steps that was botched by someone else. Jerry and Priscilla can out and made repairs and worked with the existing bricks in place. Jerry worked with our schedule, our budget and our preferences. I would use him again in a heart beat. We have had quit a bit of work done on our home and Jerry is the first contractor who met all his commitments, stayed within his quote and cleaned up the area when his was done.
