Jackson Concrete did a great job on the stamped and stained concrete patio we had them install. The original patio was a plain concrete 12'x12' patio, which they removed and laid a patio double the size. They did a great job and we'd definitely hire them again.

The overall result is fine but the difficulty of getting dates on the calendar, responsiveness of the company as well as the quality of the
final product was not up to our expectations.  Ryan seemed to want to just get the work done and get paid rather than take pride in making sure it was right for the customer.

Price seemed reasonable compared to another quote obtained. Communicated well and updated me about when he would do job as he worked his schedule around the weather. I was ok with all that. Was a little pushy about getting final payment before I even had a chance to take a good look at the finished job. Very happy with quality of the work.

Ryan Fowler, owner of Jackson Concrete, met with us a few months before our pool construction began. He looked at our existing stamped concrete patio and agreed that he could match the new patio around the pool with the same stamped look as well as the color. We met again with Ryan to draw out the patio around the pool using a spray can. He patiently worked with us for an hour that evening, while we adjusted the look of the patio, rubbing out the spray paint and making changes. He measured and we made more adjustments based on our budget. At last we had an outline with spray paint of how we wanted it to look. The following day, Ryan and his crew came and layed out the borders of the patio. Ryan suggested having the portion of the new patio stamped with a red brick border to separate the new patio from the old patio and to tie in the red brick on our home. The end results of that suggestion was really fantastic! The next day, a concrete truck came with Ryan and his crew and they got to work pouring and stamping our new patio around our pool. The following day, the patio was cleaned and sealed. We are so completely happy with the way the stamped concrete turned out! It's beautiful! Ryan was fantastic to work with. I would highly recommend him!

Ryan explained the work he would perform, showed up as scheduled, had a very professional crew and did an outstanding job !

People have seen the work and dont realize its stamped concrete, but think its actually bricks ( we had old english design installed). We couldnt be happier with the way it turned out. I would highly recommend his work, it looks amazing.

Ryan is a class individual, who is very skilled in his field. He personally over see's all of his work and his workers were very professional, neat and clean and they cleaned everything up after the job.

We liked his work so well, that we also used him to acid stain an existing concrete patio and it also turned out very well.

I am 60 years old and have built and remodeled over 20 homes utilizing 100's of contractors. My experience with Jackson Concrete is the worst that I have ever had. The concrete work that was done was average at best with the surface being very uneven and inconsistent across the multiple areas that were done... approximately 900 sq. ft. I have had to replace over 100 sq. ft of sod where they washed their tools off and killed the grass. They left concrete residue on the the driveway and brick of my house as well. The overlay project for my front walkway and entrance was a disaster! Based on the pictures Jackson Concrete showed me as well as their brochure pictures, the finished overlay I actually received was nothing like those. The overlay detailing was very poor, uneven and in some places almost unable to even see. The coloring was even worse. It was never explained to me that the coloring was in fact applied after the "stamping" was done... in fact it was basically a paint that was placed over the work. We tried several colors but it still always looked like a paint on cement. In addition it was very slippery and after having 2 people slip on it I requested something be done to resolve this issue as well. After getting no resolution to the problem, I contacted 2 other concrete companies to look at my entry way and recommend a solution to the existing situation Jackson Concrete had created. Both contractors couldn't believe the poor work and both said whoever did this certainly didn't know what they were doing and shouldn't be doing overlay applications. I asked Jackson Concrete to remove what they did and reimburse me for that portion of the total work that was completed (approximately $1,200) and they refused. Ultimately I paid a new contractor $500 to remove what Jackson Concrete had done and paid a new contractor to redo the job. The second contractor I used was Top Notch Masonry another Angies List contractor and they provided the exact finished product that was presented with true "stamping" that was consistent along with the color imbedded in the stamping vs. being painted on top as Jackson Concrete did. Jackson Concrete shouldn't be doing any decorative overlay work!... my opinion as well as 2 professionals in the concrete overlaying business I would never recommend Jackson Concrete.

"Thanks for your response, Member. We appreciate the opportunity we had to do business for you. We apologize that your experience was not satisfactory. We are sorry that despite the 10 extra trips that we made and well over $1000 in product we spent trying to satisfy your ever-growing list of complaints, it was never enough. We have never had a customer do a walk through, pay the final 60 percent, and then manage to find the job unsatisfactory. The member never asked any work to be done over, but did leave many voicemails saying the he could be fine with the job if we could change the color. After several custom colors and many trips, the member’s demands grew. He finally suggested that he could walk away satisfied if we pressure wash and seal his entire driveway. (Well over 2000 sq ft.) After leaving these demands on our voicemail with each one ending in the threat of a bad Angie's List report, we had to draw the line. The member very aggressively responded with his promise, which he has fulfilled, to "rip us to shreds on Angie's list." We solely believe in Angie’s list as the best way for customers to see an accurate display of what our company offers, and have had many customers each year using Angie’s List. We know our reputation is built up or destroyed by you, the members. We believe the member knew this very well and used it to his advantage to receive all that he could. The member also promised we would never get another job and he would ruin us. We know that we will continue to provide the best work we can and have many, satisfied customers, but sometimes there will be customers that will never be satisfied no matter what."

The owner, Ryan Fowler, returned my initial call the same day. We made an appointment for the next evening. He arrived on time, took measurements, and gave me an estimate on the spot. He had two photo albumns of some of his previous jobs. Although I didn't count, there were easily 100 photos. After I made the decision to use him for the job, he brought out samples. I was able to put the samples against the house and determine which pattern and color would go best with my brick. He started the job as soon as I made my decision on color and style. He arrived when he said he would and completed the job on time. The end result is beautiful. I asked him to replace a retaining wall previously made of landscape timbers. Instead of duplicating the existing wall, he created one that was the height of a standard chair, so the wall could be used for extra seating. He also replaced a broken step in front of the house. He noticed I had a soaker hose laying across the step, so he installed a pipe in the step so I could run the hose under the step. The work was done while we were on vacation. Ryan waited until we returned and called to see if we were satisfied. He came to my house to pick up the fanal payment (he asked for 40% up front and the remainder upon completion) and took a picture. If you use him for your next job, look for my patio in his photo albumn. While he was there I asked him about changing the look of the concrete on my carport to match the patio. He told me it could done, but that it would not last long and I would not be happy with the results. I would definitely use this company again.

This was the first bid I received for the work. There were a few details normally included in other companies bid's that weren't included in his. Though I believe if I would have addressed this out right, he would have somewhat worked with me. I just didn't get the same feeling from this company as I did from the other's. I'm sure he does quality concrete work, but I chose to go with another company.

Our home was built in 1924 and the front porch was cracked and crumbling from years of freezing and thawing. We obtained estimates from three Angie's List companies and Jackson Concrete was our third bid. I had to call and leave two messages before I got a call back from the owner to schedule an estimate. The owner was running late when he came for the bid, but he called first, so that was OK. He came to the house and brought with him two books of photos of his work and stayed for a long time answering our questions and discussing what we wanted and how he would go about the job. Because we had had two other estimates, we were able to ask specific questions and he answered much the same as the other two contractors. He did advise that he used sub-contractors, but that they were licensed and he had copies of their documentation. His bid was much lower than the other two contractors, but he explained that he bid solely based on the square footage and that $1500 was his minimum, so he had to at least charge that much. The original quote was $1500 for the porch and $300 for the wall caps. The owner indicated he would start the first of the next week, pending the weather and that he would call to confirm that Sunday. By Sunday evening I had not received a call, so I called the owner and he told me his crew would start Tuesday. The weather held off and the porch was demolished and the work wrapped up for the day. The next day the workers were there early and finished demolition and told my husband they were waiting for the gravel to back-fill. Apparently it did not arrive, because the work was not done that evening. When the gravel was delivered, the next day, it was dumped onto our new gravel driveway (just redone the prior month) without anything under it. The fill-grade gravel they used completely overran the edges of our driveway and covered our new premium gravel with the gray-slush like gravel for back-fill. The workers then took it upon themselves to fill the spaces in between our stone pavers with the back-fill gravel to make it easier for them to push their wheelbarrow over the stones. It succeeded in killing all of the new grass seed we put down after installing the stones. By this time the weather had turned rainy, but as it was barely sprinkling the workers began to pour the porch. I happened to have an appointment on the South side of town, so I was able to drive by on my way to the appointment and again on my was back downtown. By the time I was returning to my office, the workers had fashioned a tent from heavy plastic and were continuing to work in the downpour. Later that evening, when we returned home, we saw that the workers had made frames and poured the wall caps in our yard and covered them with plastic, which was being hammered in the downpour. Twice during the night my husband had to put their makeshift cover back over the porch because it was raining so hard and we could see that the plastic covering the wall caps was making strange impressions in the concrete. At the end of the week we had to go out of town. My husband spoke with the owner regarding some damage to the bricks, which occurred when the porch was demolished. It was decided that the bricks would be put back in place and braced, so that we could have a mason out to properly fix the brick walls and do some other tuck-pointing. The owner made it clear his workers were not masons and we made it clear we did not expect them to be and to brace the wall until we could hire a mason. We came home from traveling to find the worst looking porch I could possibly imagine. The workers had not braced the brick wall, but instead shoved the bricks back into place with loads of cement smeared on every surface. The wall caps were lumpy, misshapen, uneven and jagged and were mortared onto the bricks walls with so much cement that they were raised, again the cement was visible on the sides of the brick walls. The expansion joints on the porch were not centered on the surface, nor were they even in width. I could not believe my eyes! My husband dropped off the suitcases and immediately called the owner. From the first conversation the excuses started rolling in. My husband told him not to come back, but he insisted he could fix it and since we were not sure what else to do we allowed him to come over the next day. Although he somewhat apologized, all we really got was one excuse after another. He promised he would remove the wall caps and repour them himself. He claims he wasn't aware that his workers left trash all over our grass and drive and windowsills (which we cleaned up every evening) and he wanted to argue that we agreed his workers would put the bricks up temporarily with mortar, when that was not at all what we had agreed on. He admitted he did not oversee the job and that he was not aware of what it looked like until he came out that day. The caps were repoured and although they are a far cry better than the originals, my husband still has to sand them to make them smooth. We have since had two masons out for estimates, both of which made negative comments about the wall caps and expansion joints (without any prompting from us!) which makes us feel horrible. I insisted that the owner compensate us for cleaning up trash everyday and for being forced to redo the driveway (again). At first he offered a penetrating sealer for our troubles, but this made me even angrier because the quote called for a sealer, which in insists has been applied, and one of our specific questions at the estimate was whether the sealer would last. He said it would, so why offer us something "better"? Polite he may be, trustworthy he is not. Finally he took $75 off for the price of the new premium gravel we have to buy. I would never recommend this company to anyone. He may do fine work for corporate or large residential jobs, but it is apparent our job was of no importance to him. I am so disappointed and embarrassed by the look of the porch. Regardless of whether my home is important to him or not, it is to me, and his company treated it with zero respect.
Response from Jackson Concrete Inc
"We strive to give each customer the very best that we have to offer. We know that our reputation is a direct reflection on what our customers feel about the job they receive. We value each customer's property as our own. We also know that in our business we are not going to be able to satisfy every customer regardless of what we try. We sincerely apologize for any wrong you have felt. We learn a great deal from each customer and job we do, and thank you for helping us improve in any areas that we can. We know that our reputation will continue to speak for itself and know our overall grade is the best reflection of our company."

He met with us on a Friday and he was able to start our project the following week. He was careful and thorough and sought our input to make sure he had things done exactly as we wanted them. He was very responsive to our suggestions and questions. He was there everyday working with his crew and we were very confident in his team. I could not be happier! Ryan Fowler is a true professional and a joy to work with. Ryan took the time to drive me around to see actual jobs that he had completed, and then took the time to understand what I was looking for in a pool deck/patio. His crew was hard working and professional as well. He had to coordinate things with my pool builder, and was always on top of things and very flexible because of unforeseen weather related delays. The stamped concrete is beautiful!!! The pool builder was even impressed with his work.

Fantastic. Ryan and his crew were punctual, polite, hardworking, dedicated and perfectionists. They made good suggestions on where to increase the size of the driveway and how to make it flow with the house, and were patient with explanations when I had difficulty visualizing the suggestions. They met all self-imposed time lines, working hard to get the drive done in time for use once the garage is built. Ryan even helped us make our prints in a movable 2x2 walking stone, and assisted in getting 5 cat paw prints and 1 dog's print into the walking stone cement, not an easy job with the cats. I highly recommend Jackson Concrete and will use them again if I ever need concrete work.
