INDIANA WORKING DOGS

We have two dogs. Both were adults when we took them in. One dog was on her third home. Both came with and quot;issues.and quot; Both desperately needed training. Greg is our fourth attempt to find a trainer. One trainer wouldn't even let our newest dog in her training class. Another wanted us to leave her for a month in their care. Another wanted us to use a clicker. We tried that. It was not effective in our case. We have two very reactive dogs and we needed help in a hurry. We have had two in-home visits and both have been very productive. We actually stopped walking our dogs before we met Greg because any dog they saw made them crazy. We are using e-collars for both dogs. We tried them out on ourselves before using them for the dogs. It is very much like an invisible fence collar, but it has settings so you can customize it to the dog. He explained why our dogs behaved the way they did. There is no food involved in the training, just lots of praise. We were instructed on how to properly use the e-collars and how not to use them. He let us know what we were doing to cause some of the behaviors. We knew that we needed help and the feedback is constructive. But we were also very eager to learn and work with our dogs to make them good K9 citizens. There is a lot more instruction for us than the dogs and its like we have two totally different dogs. We started with just a couple of basic commands out on the front sidewalk. Greg is a hands on trainer. He isn't telling us what to do and sending us home. He shows us, watches us do it ourselves. It makes all the difference. If we forget to praise our dog or we are giving mixed signals to our dog, he lets us know. That is exactly what we needed! We have three training sessions left. The first two have been so productive, we cannot wait for the rest. We also plan to take group classes to help keep our dogs socialized and sharp once we fully accomplish the basics.

My 9 month old puppy was very hard to manage. We had attended 12 weeks of training at a local pet store with minimal results. Greg made all the difference. My dog is much easier to handle and will only get better. I am now the one in control and understand how to relay my expectations to my dog.

Gerg took my 7lb yorkie for two weeks. Like all dog owners I was worried sick and I missed her. Gerg was only a phone call away when I needed reassuring. He is amazing , teaches with a firm but loving hand. He loves the dogs and they love and respect him in return. I feel like he saved Bridgett's life. He taught her to listen and not to be agressive, yes she was very aggressive. Now she is a pleasure to take on walks not biting or barking at people or other dogs. Yes I still remind her from time to time that we dont behave that way but she listens to me now. Thank you Greg for helping Bridgett and I both!

It went great. I hated having my dog be away for 2 weeks but it was our decision to go with the board and train option for our lifestyle. Our dog is such a pleasure to have around. No jumping - he listens and responds. I get compliments every time I walk him or when he's in the yard about how well behaved he is. I highly recommend Greg and Indiana Working Dogs.

Recommend highly… Greg Hollen (Indiana Working Dogs) is AMAZING. Greg stopped by to evaluate Molly [my 10 month old retriever mix which I had gotten at a rescue shelter]. He talked with me for over an hour at the evaluation in my home regarding how he trains, etc. Greg recommended Molly should have his two (2) week in-boarding training. Molly lived in his home with his family which included 3 dogs and 2 cats. That is one thing that sold me on letting Greg train Molly – that she would be part of the family. I was able to call Greg anytime to get an update. He took time to talk with me each time I called and told me how Molly was doing.

As any pet lover, I loved my puppy, but I had a new admiration and love for her when she returned. This is by far, one of the best investments I ever made. I think Molly is happier, she is more content and when I ask her to do something, she does it! Molly is truly a companion – she loves having her freedom, and she knows in order to keep her freedom, she needs to obey when asked. Love her, love her, love her.

I could go on forever about how great Greg is and how great he made Molly – words speak for themselves… We are currently working with Greg in a group class, and the goal is getting her certified as a therapy dog. When we arrive for group class and Molly hears Greg’s voice from the parking lot, her tail is a waggin’. She loves him. Do yourself a favor, hire Greg to train your dog. If I ever decide to have another dog, Greg will be one of the first people I call. A friend recommended Greg [he trained her 4 year old labradoodle – so your dog can be any age]. [I had already gone through 2 dog training classes at one of the pet stores, and we were not really getting any where - I wish I would have known about Indiana Working Dogs before I wasted money at the pet store - I won't make that mistake again.]

Very well. Cody goes in looking like no one loves him ( but of course we all do!) and comes out looking like a little Hollywood pet. Sporting a little bandanna he looks and feels like a million bucks.
