The man was pleasant and I think the work he did was ok. I am not happy that he didn't fix the icemaker. He told my husband a part was stripped and what part to get. Of course, we can't find the part. The store sold us a different kind of filter that may or may not work. That is the exact same thing that happened with a different plumber when I wanted a shut off valve installed on the icemaker in the house. I had to call him back to install the valve because I couldn't keep it from leaking.
I think the pricing is horrible but if people tell me it's reasonable, I could change my mind.
There was an 89.00 trip charge (we knew this) and the address of the business is within a mile or two.
Installing the faucet that I supplied was 228.00
Installing and supplying the hoses and faucets in laundry room was 328.00.
They did direct us to a coupon on the internet that saved us $50.00 so out total was $595.00.
They tried to sell a service plan...if we bought the plan, our cost would be lowered but to me that means guaranteed spending not saving...I'm not a fan of those. If I had done business with them for a while and really trusted them, I might consider something like that.
I have a few problems with this....
1) I think the cost is high
2) If I wanted to fix the icemaker myself I wouldn't have called a plumber. I think many people in America have icemakers and would think plumbers should have parts to take care of them.
3) Don't offer me a service plan when you just charged me a ton and didn't complete all I asked for.
I don't think these things were the fault of the individual plumber and if he had his own business at reasonable cost (and fixed my icemaker), I would have been happy.
Installation was okay. The installers did not check to ensure the floor drain in our basement worked (it didn't) and created a large puddle in the basement, since our basement is not finished, it was not a big deal, but a little messy. A few hours after installation I turned on our bathroom sink and heard a loud "pop" from the basement. One of the welds on the piping had burst. Fortunately, my husband was able to turn off the water, to keep from flooding the basement. It took them a few hours before they were available to come out and fix the problem.
