Because of an odd insulation problem, the copper freon line had to be completely rerun and done outside the house.  An odd installation, but the only way to do it.  Getting the old furnace out was a pain, since the attic opening wasn't quite big enough.  They had to take some drywall off to widen the opening.  After that the old one came out and the new one went up and in.  Keith was the best and he treated us like we were his only customer.  I never felt dumb about the installation and he explained everything as he went along.  The only knock I give them is the cosmetic issues with the attic opening after they left.  They installed new molding around the opening and it's not quite up to my standards.  i will need to probably take it down and redo myself.  I don't expect them to be carpenters, so I'll let this go.  Otherwise, the furnace and AC work great and we are now enjoying air conditioning again!!

We are having a very strong odor from our exhaust outside our house and some inside in the basement.  We called on a Saturday and they did come out and fixed the exhaust in the basement and didn't charge us for doing that.  And assured me that he would check out the history of our furnace and get back with me on why we are having this problem with the exhaust. S and S installed this furnace and also serviced it a few times.  We have never heard back from them, and this is not the first time. Once during a service call they told i needed a part and I told them to order it for me.  and they never call to tell me its in.  Follow thru with this company i have found is not good.   i am going elsewhere.

S&S went out of there way to come out quickly and to accommodate a time when I was home.  They didn't even charge an extra fee for a Sunday call like some companies do.  Brian, our technician, did a great job and was very professional. We couldn't have been more pleased.

I will be honest, one year they came out and they  were  cleaning the furnace, they had put it in originally. 
I had used them for years.  
They blew out the mother board when they were cleaning it, and they replaced that free of charge.
All they did was charge me for the cleaning, because they knew it was cause of them.
Unfortunately they just recently changed to a new ownership.  
So now they won’t admit to that.
When it came to air conditioning cleaning, you guys had a great big deal that came out , I think in April.
And I had them come out and clean my air conditioning , because I will never use S & S again !
For years I was very happy with them until they changed ownership.

Overall, it was a good experience.  They had to remove the old furnace and blower and replace them as well as add a heatpump with the ac unit.  They installed a new thermostat and gave us the paperwork so we could get the energy tax credit.  I asked to lay down cardboard over our floor to protect the carpet and they did.  One person was a smoker and he was smoking outside but it was blowing into the house.  I asked him to leave the door closed if he would be out smoking and he didn't smoke on the property again.  We had to wait 4 days for the furnace to be installed because they were working on others and the week-end hit, but they rearranged the schedule so we didn't have to wait longer.  We were thankful that it was done in a decent amount of time and Adam, the owner, was on site to oversee the installation and stop by to check in and that was helpful.  I think it helps to be home when they are doing the work.

I will continue to use them. They are local. I've found that they are professional. They are pretty easy to get ahold of for scheduling. Their workers are really helpful and informative. I've never had any trouble with them. Their prices are good.

They have done this every six months for me for more than 10 years. The only problem I've ever had was with the scheduler. The technicians have been great. I have not had any major repairs or replacement of systems, so can not comment on that.

They continue to be outstandingly excellent! They call us and remind us about the maintenance service for Fall and Spring. They are here when they say they will be. They call to schedule the appointment. They call us the night before and when they are half way to our house. Their service is exactly what you would hope to get.

Richard found the problem with the thermostat within a couple of minutes. I had bent a pin when I changed the batteries. He went on to check the a/c, and provided me with a detailed report on its performance. S&S is the third HVAC service provider we have used, since we purchased this home nine years ago. The first two service providers had good Angie's List ratings, but their prices were high, and the quality of service left a lot to be desired. S&S is in another category. It's not controlled by a large corporation, like many other service providers claiming to be locally-owned. When you call S&S, you're not talking to a call center, you're talking to people who are busy fixing things. In my case, a second phone call was required. Was it worth it? Based on my experience, I saved at least $100, & for the first time, received credible explanation of why the a/c performance has been somewhat disappointing. I was ready to replace the unit, but now, I may pay Richard to fix it instead.

Our furnace was having difficulties lighting the burning. The furnace would tried to light three or four times before successfully lighting the burner. I called S&S and they came out in a timely manner to work on our furnace. The technician they sent out, Alex, determined that the problem was a dirty flame sensing rod. He cleaned the rod and the rest of the furnace. Alex was pleasant and answered all of my questions. I was impressed with S&S's work and the fact that they did not try to sell me something I didn't need.

Called at 4:45 pm on a Friday and the furnace wasn't firing. We had had a power outage earlier that day. The furnace was new, installed by S & S about 11 months ago. They got someone here quickly and even covered the repair under warranty. They didn't really have to do that, it wasn't their fault that the power went out. They also showed me how to do the reset if it happened again. This was great service on their part.

S & S MAY NOT HAVE AN ANGIE'S LIST COUPON, BUT: 1) THEY WERE ABLE TO MAKE A SERVICE CALL THE SAME DAY I ASKED FOR ONE, DURING THE FIRST HEATWAVE OF THE SEASON. 2) THE TECHNICIAN WAS BRIGHT, FRIENDLY, AND VERY HELPFUL. 3) THEIR PRICES ARE SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE ANGIE'S LIST ADVERTISERS. BECAUSE THEY ARE A SMALL COMPANY, WILLING FOR SOME FLEXIBILITY ON APPOINTMENT TIME. I WAS WARNED THE TECHNICIAN WOULD ARRIVE LATE IN THE DAY, POSSIBLY AFTER 6. I WAS CONTACTED AT 4 PM TO REITERATE THAT FACT. THE TECHNICIAN CALLED BEFORE HE ARRIVED, AS PROMISED. I ONLY WISH I HAD PURCHASED MY FURNACE FROM S & S INSTEAD OF BROAD RIPPLE (OWNED BY LENNOX).

WE WERE GOING THROUGH A HOME INSPECTION PUNCHLIST AND EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY WITH THE REAL ESTATE AGENT AND HIS INSPECTOR. S & S WAS MORE THAN ACCOMMODATING WHEN THEY VOLUNTEERED TO RETURN TO THE HOUSE A SECOND TIME TO CHECK CARBON MONOXIDE LEVELS EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE CERTAIN THE FIRST INSPECTION.

THESE GUYS ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNRESPONSIVE. THEY WERE THE COMPANY THAT HAD THE SERVICE CONTRACT ON THE HVAC UNIT IN THE HOUSE I PURCHASED 5 YEARS AGO, AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THEM.
