From the first contact through completion of the job, LJ did what he said he would in the time frame given.  He removed some wall paper so carefully it could be saved and reused in the future should patching be necessary.  He also arranged for the electrician who did an excellent job of moving switches and outlets.  The stone we chose was challenging to work with, and it could not look better.  I have already called this company for another job I need to have done!

I had ordered special tile for our living room fireplace. I had worked with a tile install person over about 6 months. When the tile finally arrived - he stopped returning calls and emails. Kristina at Architectural Brick and Tile recommended Gunderman. I needed someone really good as this was not going to be an easy job and I had spent some money on hand made, hand fired tile. I checked them out on Angies List too and all reports were good. I talked with John Sr who came right out when I told him that the other guy had left me high and dry. He looked over the tile, talked with me at length and promptly emailed me an estimate. They started work on a Saturday 2 weeks later.
LJ (John Jr) arrived right on time and went straight to work. He prepped the plaster wall where there had been some previous water damage. He had the tile installed by 3 pm on Sat. He returned on Sunday to clean up and make sure all the mantle tiles were adhering well to the wall. We chose the grout color - which was a special order. He returned on Friday and finished the grout work. He also made some repairs to the original hearth.
We had one area that needs additional tile and we talked about what was needed to finish the job. That tile is on order and may take a few weeks to arrive. I have no doubt that he will be back and finish off the job.
The fireplace looks FABULOUS. The price was a little high but I don't mind paying for skilled labor and prompt service. Again, this was a very specialized install and I knew that it could potentially cost more than normal to install. I am so happy with the work and how professional and prompt both John Sr and LJ have been!

John did all detail sizing cutting and installation in a very timely manner. He falls into that rare class of craftsman with and quot;magic handsand quot;. He is clearly a cut above by all measures. It was an excellent interfacing experience. I will call on him for any tiling projects that arise.

Last fall, we had a screened porch built on the back of our house and we wanted the finished product to have a tiled floor. John came out promptly when I called him in December to estimate the job. Of the 3 bids received, his provided the most detail, and was competitively priced. The work to be done included prepping the concrete, installing a membrane, furnishing and installing the porcelain, grouting, and caulking. The work couldn't be done until spring when the temperature was warm enough. As soon as there was a week of 70+ degree weather, it was to be installed by John's son.. Sure enough, when the weather forecast called for a nice week, he called me and scheduled the installation. John's son, also John, called the day before to let me know when he would arrive and talk through the project. He showed up promptly that morning and worked tirelessly for the next 4 days, prepping the area and installing the tile in a beautiful pattern. Our entire family is very pleased with the way it turned out. John and John are both very professional, hard working, and very committed to making each project perfect. They treated my project like it was in their own home. I highly recommend Gunderman Design and Concepts!!

They do what they say they are going to do. They are really honest and do a great job.

John gave a fair estimate and kept to it. They started on time and stayed until the job was completed. A minor touch up was required and they gladly came back to fix it.

EXCELLENT. THEY TOOK SO MUCH PRIDE IN THEIR WORK AND HOW THEY INSTALLED OUR TILE. THEY KEPT US INFORMED EVERY STEP OF THE WAY AND EVEN CAME IN ON A WEEKEND TO FINISH B/C WE'D HAD TO ORDER MORE TILE (EXCESSIVE BREAKAGE), SO THEY CAME IN ON A WEEKEND DAY TO FINISH INSTALLATION. BEAUTIFUL WORK. ALSO, I HAVE FOUR LITTLE KIDS AND THEY WERE SO GOOD WITH THEM.

I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN. HIS WORK IS FANTASTIC. HE IS QUITE A CRAFTSMAN.
