This was a free-formed space that required Brian to analyze and create a proper structure for joists and posts that would permit setting of the railings so that what was set at the ground level matched what was set on the second floor balcony deck. He need to create a seamless transition from the deck to the wheel chair ramp that he designed and built as well as from the ramp land onto the sidewall that runs along the driveway. They surrounded the deck with a skirt that should keep most of the critters our. The craftsman ship matched every expectation, the structure is rock solid, and the symmetry equals all of my expectations. If not for the weather that posed a couple of delays this would have been completed in maybe 8 days vs. the 2 weeks. The cost was more than $10,000.00.

Bathtub and faucet not installed correctly, lighting fixtures not installed correctly, new electrical lines and GFS outlets installed incorrectly. Jim Doran did not order vanity and lied about it. He told us that it had been ordered, but we had to wait until the manufacturer had other orders in the area to ship all at once. I called the manufacturer and they confirmed that they do not hold orders in any way. Jim Doran later admitted he lied about the situation. Bathtub issues reported to the owner for the last 4 years and 11 months. Jim Doran states that he will repair but never shows up. We had no choice but to have the electrical and lighting issues repaired outside of this company. The bathtub and faucet have never been repaired. Found out later that a permit had been required and not obtained.

Absolute disaster. Subbed out the roofing job that had to be re-done 3 times and still didn't fix it. Each new guy said the last guy didn't know what he was doing. Finally just got another roofer to do the job right and had to pay again because I was so tired of dealing with these guys, it just didn't matter anymore. I made call after call after call to the owner of R.S. Once he knew there was a problem, he didn't want to call me back.
The front door that was a piece of gargage. Instead of getting a door like we discussed (a Peachtree from Lowes) the owner of R.S. decided to save a few bucks and have a door made locally (might have to grade them later). I knew it was junk when I saw it, and protested that was not going in my doorway. They brought the owner or the door company to my house to blow smoke up my you-know-what, and I should have never listened. Even an employee of R.S. admitted to me later that the door seemed to be poor quality. The door is still junk, and will have to be replaced soon again.

"Sometimes problems occur on jobs. When that happens we respond to fix these issues. We went back three times on the roof repair. We not only repaired the roof damage, but also the drywall damage inside. We were unaware there was onother problem with the roof until this report. So, I dont know how we could take action to solve a problem we didn't know about. The door was selected and special ordered by the member. We installed the door per the manufacturers instructions. We have installed hundreds of doors and had few problems. We responded to and fixed all the issues we knew about. We brought out the manufacturer to discuss the problems and thought the matter was closed. We acted in good faith, and tried to remedy the situation. We have over 700 happy clients."

On the day of the meeting, I called Jim to give him the opportunity to decline the job since I had decided to just quote the front porch and driveway and didn't know if he wanted it. The real truth is that because of the insult at pushing for my husband to be there, they were not really in the running. So Jim actually did decline the job, but I thought I would take the opportunity to give him feedback about my experience and be honest about the issue that bothered me. I worked for a company that does national customer satisfaction surveys and was a consultant for them so I understand the value of professional constructive feedback. Jim's response was very rude and he said, "well we aren't going to change our process for one customer." I would never want to do a project, especially one like a bathroom or kitchen remodel, with a person who communicates like that. This is information that Angie's List folks can and should take note of.

"We provide free estimates to people who want to improve their homes. In exchange for that free service we want to meet with all the homeowners. That way we can answer everyones questions without have to go back two or three times. Thus, saving us the expense and travel time revisiting estimates multiple times, and saving customers time. We are not trying to insult anyone. In the past we have had one spouse order a job and the other cancel it. This policy also prevents awkward situations like an estimator in the master bedroom measuring a window and the husband comes home and knows nothing about the estimate. That makes sense, does't it? That's why we meet with all parties involved. We are sorry the member feels that way."

They did a good job. I was out of town when they were here and there was some miscommunication. When I got back the owner did a personal walk around and sent someone out here for no extra charge to make everything right. He was very on top of his business. I would definitely recommend him.

After several months of negotiations for a kitchen remodel, we were waiting for Remodeling Solutions (RS) to submit their final bid for work which did not include the cabinets and countertops. We actually found custom built cabinets and countertops (which included all the upgrades RS was charging extra for) at more than $2000 dollars off the price of RS. After waiting nearly 2 weeks for a response for quote, I left a voice-message for RS asking for a reply. The next day, we received an email from RS stating that they were declining to work with us based upon a double-booking with current signed contracts. Instead of working with us to find a date that worked, RS set us back to square 2 having to find a contractor to do the work we planed for them to perform. We believe this is because we did not choose their higher priced cabinets and countertops. Thank you Remodeling Solutions; by rejecting us as a client, you saved us THOUSANDS of dollars.

"I spent no less that 50 hours on multiple bids for this family. We also did drawing showing 8 Kitchen options for the family. The value of the drawing and designs exceeding $1,000.00. He had his estimate(s) and drawings. We worked tirelessly to do their kitchen. We did not set him back. He had months of his time, weeks our our time and numerous kitchen designs that we porvided for him - FREE!. I gave him no less than four estimates on his project. By this time he still hadn't reached a decision, we were overbooked!. I informed him so he could make other plans."
