Great! Please note that The Chimney Man is now Chimney Man and Son. The current owner trained with the original Chimney Man, who has since retired. I used to use another area service that had been highly rated. However, that business is now being run by a son who no longer thinks it's important to answer calls. In desperation, I looked up other chimney sweeps in the area and luckily picked The Chimney Man and Son. He came out to the property very promptly and gave my chimney the most thorough cleaning it has ever had. I have a wood insert that I use for supplemental heating over the winter, so I do burn a lot more and it's important to me to have a safe system. I was blown away by the attention to detail and to the point by point inspection. I was also blow away by the price. My chimney and firebox were both inspected and cleaned, and I paid $130 for the total service. I will definitely use this service again!

Steve was great. He took a ton of time cleaning and making sure our gas fireplace was in proper form. He answered all of my questions and did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. He was extremely thorough and respectful of our home. I would definitely hire him again.

This is the third time Steve has serviced our chimney and fireplace inserts. He is good at what he does. Honest, reasonable pricing and knowledgeable. I would recommend him highly for any chimney, fireplace, stove, related needs. He is courteous, detail oriented and provides documentation of work done. Much better than others we have used.

He is very good, but does not carry a cell phone.  The only number he has is a LAN line.  Communication is poor, due to lack of cell phone.  I had to cancel an appointment, and did so the day before.  I rescheduled...and called to let him know I would be a little late, but because he couldn't get the message he assumed I was a no show.  When I called to reschedule, he refused and said he would get to us when he could.  We were established clients.  Quality of work is excellent, but ability to reach him during the day is impossible.

I purchased a 'deal' for a chimney sweep.  They made an appointment and showed up promptly.
Evidently, this was the first wood furnace they'd encountered, because I had to direct operations.
The furnace was just over a year old, with different chimney connections than my old one, so we had a bit of a mess when we finally figured out how to do it.  They had all the right equipment to clean up the mess quickly, and I was sufficiently satisfied to contract with them to clean it again this year.

Until last year he was always excellent and the problem we had last year was somewhat beyond his control because we had a difficult chimney due to the roof and the height.  Since the situation was highly unusual I have only addressed  the excellent pluses of his work.  However because of the difficulties we decided to try another company this year.  Of the above numbered services that company only satisfied number "1"!  I will try Steve again since I think we can work out the problem with our stove.

Gave us straight answers on what was needed and what wasn't. Didn't try to rip us off. Came back when he said he would to finish the masonry sealing.

We just moved into our 1960's house in the spring, and had not used our fireplaces or figured out how to operate the gas one.  We did not know the condition of the chimneys on either, and are new to the area so didn't have experience with chimney sweeps.

Following a recommendation on Angie's list I called "The Chimney Man" over a month ago and got on his schedule.   He arrived at the time promised and was very courteous and professional.  He not only did the work, but thoroughly answered my questions about the operation of the gas pilot and gas log fireplace, made sure I could operate the damper on the wood fireplace, and responded to my questions about possibly converting to a fireplace insert at some point in the future.

After the rooftop inspection & sweeping, he explained that there was some rust on the metal covers  that are at the top of the chimney.    He said they were okay for now, but would probably need to be replaced in a year or two.      He gave me an estimate of what that would cost, and I'll be having him back later this season to install two stainless steel "tops".

I was totally satisfied with the work done, with The Chimney Man as a professional who took pride in his work, and with the price.

I spent under $100 the last time I used him.  I would give him an A plus all across the board.

The Chimney Man, Stephen Beaumont, was on time and did his job well. I've used Stephen for the past several years for annual cleaning and inspection and once to fix my flue cap. I didn't rate The Chimney Man for "price" because honestly I haven't shopped around and I don't know what others charge for the same service. The Chimney Man does keep track of you as a customer, and he calls us every year to schedule our annual service, so you don't have to worry about trying to get him when he's busy. He told me that he is very busy and that new customers sometimes call him and demand that he come out the next day, but he can't. So don't wait until the last minute to schedule an appointment with him. Also he does give preference to his existing customers over first time callers when getting an appointment. Once you're a customer of his he will do all he can to get out and take care of you, especially if it's an emergency (I know this because when I called him about my flue cap needing fixed he wanted to know if it was an emergency or if I could wait). My wife likes him too, and that alone is a reason to give Stephen an "A" rating :-)
