After 3 or 4 trips in the new RV, we realized how weak the floor was. It seemed to give when you walked on it, and it just kept getting worse. The lights were not working properly, the wood trim was coming off, and the sofa cushions were starting to come unstitched. This is when we contacted Forrest River's repair service. It took numerous calls and finally got Wayne Bisler on the phone. He said we needed to talk to Texas. Texas said we were obviously too far away and that Wayne should be fixing these things, since it was a factory warranty issue. Again, several attempts to contact Wayne. He finally gave us the name and number of a shop in Elkhart, but again, there were several calls and messages left with no one calling back. Through this, they kept arguing that we were living in it, and that was the reason for the problems. We have a home and are NOT living in it. When we finally got an appointment for the place that Forrest River supposedly sends all of its campers, it was basically a small pull barn. We arranged a time and dropped off the RV. We went out of town and came back about 2-3 weeks later. The guy said he hadn't even looked at our RV yet, but said he hadn't gotten approval from Wayne to do the work. He said it would be months before he could get it repaired. We had planned to drive to Florida for the winter, so we did not want to wait any longer. We took the RV with us and again played phone tag with Wayne. We said that the service he recommended was not acceptable. Wayne said to take it in December 1st and he would take it right to the plant, and in about a week he would get everything replaced right there. We were instructed to clean everything out, which we did. Then they called and said to bring it in earlier than the 1st. We dropped it off and my husband spoke to Joe and gave him the whole list of the problems. After more than a week, we went to check on the RV. No one seemed to know what we were talking about when we asked about the progress. We got Joe on the phone and Joe first had no memory of who we were or the fact that our camper was even on the property. Finally he said he DID remember us and that they were working on it. We flagged down the forklift guy that moves the RV's and he remembered us right away. He said he moved it once but didn't think it had been moved since then. We located the camper, and nothing had been done to it. The fork lift driver found us and we heard Joe on his radio asking if that guy had seen us. He told Joe we looked at it and knew that they hadn't done any work on it. Joe said to tell us that we shouldn't have brought it to the plant and it should have gone to the service department. My husband reminded him that we had already done that! We went back to Wayne, who was now trying to cover for Joe! We called him out on it said we were going to hire a lawyer. He said to just get the RV off their property if that's how we were going to be. We asked what else we're supposed to do since they haven't done anything and aren't standing behind their product. My husband asked who his boss was, and Wayne said Pat Stratton. At this point, the only thing that can really make us happy is a new RV. We are making monthly payments on this RV and can't even use it! We are very frustrated.
Response from FOREST RIVER INC
"The customer did not take his trailer from our location. It is presently being repaired per my conversation with the owner and he will be notified upon completion. His request for new RV is not within our warranty policy which I expressed to him."
