HEAT PUMP DESIGN INC

I own a nonprofit hospitality business near French Lick. Scott Crews is the owner of this company. He has a voicemail that is often full and does not use email. It initially took him a month to return my calls for an install and I should have known better to hire him by then. HPDI does not respond to messages. They promise to call to set up any service day ahead of time and then don't actually call you until the day they actually want to show up (this happened 6 times). When the install was done, Scott said, "I'll be on your doorstep at 7am tomorrow to pick up the check". I'm very, very lucky I couldn't do that because after my install I had 2 vents installed backwards, a steady 82% humidity INSIDE, and my main room upstairs consistently 4-7 degrees warmer than the lower level. I then paid him 75% of the bill until the job was completed. They told me to expect a 3-4 degree difference, and that they would run another vent if it did not perform. When confronted with this information, he swapped the backwards vents and said, "I'm not doing any more work, and you're going to pay me everything I asked for. If you don't, I have Ryan Wineinger's cell phone number at the fire marshal's office, and I'll make sure he shuts you down tomorrow". I told him that he was welcome to refund my money and take the system back because I didn't have a proper air conditioning system that I could advertise to my guests. He said, "I'll be happy to take it back and I'll also keep the money you've paid me." I am now in the beginning stages of filing a lawsuit. I should ask that his crew and crew leader Cody were consistently kind, helpful, and communicative. I feel bad for them having to work for this guy.
