It was through Angie's List. It kind of went on for a while because it was raining quite a bit. I think they did a pretty good job, it was just towards the end they had some leaks because of the flashing they put on. They kept saying it was my chimney and it caused some damage to the inside of my house. They came back and said they would not fix it. I paid them to replace the cap on the chimney. They said I needed a cap on the other one as well, but I had never had a leak in the roof before they worked on it. To replace the cap they had to disassemble everything around it. I think they did really good work except the damage that was inside of my house. I think they did decent work when I had an issue inside with them they did not want to address that. They were able to get back to me. They were professional.
"After roof was completed, the homeowner called us back for a leak. On the inspection, we noticed that his chimney caps were leaking, which was not part of the original estimate, we provided the homeowner with pictures that show the damage had been going on for a long time. The homeowner asked us to give an estimate to replace one of the chimney caps. We gave an estimate and did the job. Several weeks later, the homeowner called us back out for another leak. On inspection of the property, we noticed leaks around the other chimney cap. We provided the homeowner with pictures again showing that the leak had been going on for a long time, and that he would need to replace that cap as well. The homeowner had explained that there was several areas of drywall damage inside the home. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] was home at the time of the inspection, and explained to the crew that all the drywall damage was before the roof was replaced, and you could clearly tell by the stains and damage to the ceiling that it had been that way for a long time. We explained this to Mr. [Member Name Removed], and he seemed to understand at the time. Myself, as the general manager have over 20 years experience in this business. Over the years I have seen many jobs with drywall damage and staining from roof leaking. This was clearly going on way before we ever put the roof on. In fact, Mr. [Member Name Removed] seemed to be very happy at the time, and asked us for another estimate to replace his windows and doors which we provided. We take pride in the quality and workmanship of all of our jobs. If the leak had been due to something we had caused then we would have fixed it free of charge."
In February, 2016, we wanted to have our ceilings redone. Earlier owners of the house had done a "do-it-yourself" texture on the ceilings, and we needed old and unused vents closed up and drywalled. They said it would probably be a few weeks until they could get to us, but two days later, they were able to start. They did a beautiful job. You can't even see where they patched in. They also cleaned the walls and fixtures really well, and didn't track drywall dust all over the house. Again, when they left, you wouldn't have known they were ever there.
We will be hiring Moore Construction for any future jobs we have.
A team of 3 spent 3.5 days steadily working and did, from what I can tell, a nice job including cleanup. The trim wood they used appeared to be quality cedar. The windows are a nice quality and I am very satisfied with them and their installation. The estimate indicated painting to match what was put on the house previously. The problem is, that even though the paint may have matched what was in the can, it does not necessarily match what has been on the house for a number of years. So--I feel I need to consider an additional quote to finish the painting of the trim.
I did not get a competitive quote on this project so I did not include price in my rating.
great job
We would definitely hire them again and would recommend them to anyone looking to get some remodeling done in their home.
The crew was good local people, that put a full day in providing the weather was good. Would invite out again for more work, of course another bidder, but they would have a leg up because I know their work!
My original 4x4 wooden posts that were supporting the swing gate doors were not substantial enough to support the weight of the doors, and so the gate was leaning over and was unusable.
I hired Moore Construction Services to:
- Remove 3 of the 4x4 wooden posts (that were set in concrete).
- Backfill 1 of the post holes with dirt (it would not be used for the new posts).
- Dig the other 2 post holes an additional 10 to 12 inches deeper.
- Set 2 new treated 6x6 wooden posts in concrete into the post holes.
- Re-hang the swing gate doors.
Moore Construction subcontracted the job out to a fence company. The finished job was acceptable, although there were a couple of hinge installation errors that I fixed myself. For example, one hinge was installed upside down, was missing a lag bolt, and wasn't making proper contact with the supporting fence board. Another hinge on the other door was not making proper contact with the supporting fence board. I felt that without proper support, the hinges would fail with use over time.
To my knowledge, the General Manager from Moore Construction never stopped by for a follow-up inspection of the work. If he had then surely he would've noticed the hinge installation errors. I did, however, receive a follow-up phone call where I had the opportunity to complain about the hinges ? but it seemed hardly worth mentioning, even though it bothered me.
We?ve used Moore Construction Services in the past and were extremely pleased with their work ? that is why we used them for this job. So, perhaps because the work was sub-contracted, this was just a ?one-off? experience where the quality of work didn?t quite measure up to their past performance.
Finally, the one thing that was a constant annoyance was that the General Manager, who came out to give the repair estimate, he could never seem to get my email address correct for correspondence with me. After not yet having received a quote from him for the work request, I called their office and spoke with Amanda (who was very attentive). She forwarded to me the GM's original email to me with the quote. I saw then that he left part of my email address out and that's why I never received the quote. When I replied back to Amanda to accept the quote and authorize the work to be done, I copied in the General Manager to advise him of his error with my email address and asked him to correct it in his address book. It just annoyed me because when you intend to use email as the communication platform, then it's imperative to ensure you have your customer's email address correct.
"[member name removed] thanks for the input on the work we did. We always discuss our reviews to see how we can improve in the future. When Ian, the general manager called & asked if the work was completed to your satisfaction you said yes & you would mail the check out. We wish you would have told us at the time that there was a problem so that we could have fixed it. We always want our customers to be satisfied. Sometimes if it's a very small job & a previous customer we don't go by & inspect it unless you ask or have an issue when we do our follow up phone call. We only use subcontractors that have been with us for many years and expect their work to be more than satisfactory. We hope you give us an opportunity to work for you in the future. We appreciate the work that you have given us in the past. Again thank you for the feedback."
All work was completed satisfactorily after a few trips to repair damage to previously completed work. New shingles and gutter were damaged by a worker who was installing the new shutters.
All workers were professional and prompt throughout the process and there was no hesitancy to take care of any issues that arose.
We plan to recommend Jerry Moore and his company to anyone we know who would be in need of his services, and already have done so. We also have some additional work that we are awaiting his proposal for.
