would share. We had a problem with a light switch and outlet. We were
also having problems with our water heater. We call and they send an
electrician out. He fixed the plug and light switch for ~$300 which
seemed expensive, but ok. He wasn't a plumber and tinkered around with
our electric panel and stuff, but didn't fix the water heater problem.
We would have to have a plumber from their company come out. Ok still
doing ok, but a little annoyed that they didn't send the person to solve
our real problem with the water heater. Water heater is under warranty
still, but it of course doesn't cover labor. My wife is home when the
plumber comes (they were actually very punctual). I psuedo diagnosed
the problem the night before with google and told her to say I thought
it was the lower thermostat going bad. Plumber says it is the heating
coil which made no sense because the water would get really hot and then
trip the cutoff from the upper thermostat and next morning the water
would be cold. I talk to the guy on the phone say I think it is the
lower thermostat...no he thinks it is the heating coil and replaces
that. Wake up next morning with cold water and breaker flipped again.
Call back to have them come back out (Oh yeah we are at $650ish
now...almost new water heater). Now miraculously it is the lower
thermostat and they want another $250ish to replace. We call the
manager. He tells us that the technician told my wife we should have
just replaced the whole water heater since it was 4 years old. Also
says that since the technician came out the day before the lower
thermostat went out and that it wasn't the problem from the start.
After many calls, arguing, and a trip to the actual place where the
manager worked we were able to get the water heater miraculously
replaced and quot;under warrantyand quot; without any more charges...note we had
basically paid for a new one at this point anyway. Totally new plumber
comes this time since we were furious with the other person who had
come. Installed new water heater no problem. Until I looked at the
water heater he brought and installed. I did not argue anymore at this
point, but they had taken our 4 year old 50 gallon water heater and
replaced it with a new 40 gallon one. Needless to say we will never,
ever, ever use Mr Quik again for anything. They were quick to arrive
and take our money is about all I can say. It was the most horrible
experience we have had with a company.
Price for my troubleshooting I thought was ok.
The quote given to rewire the two panels and increase my house feed was complete and solid from a work perspective... bringing everything up to code... and I didn't feel like he was overselling what needed to be done, however, the price he quoted was VERY high.
I had a second company come out and quote the same work for about half the price. (No, I did not start off by sharing my Mr. Quick quote with them) The second company was a very reputable one that I found here on Angie's list.
When Mr. Quick quoted, he pulled out a laminated sheet with and quot;standard pricesand quot; for jobs... they didn't seem to be flexible based on difficulty of the job/etc... unfortunately, they didn't get my business.
Summary: Great person, very qualified, good work, expensive.
I had a friend from church come over that used to work for PSI and all he had to do was reset the circuit breaker.
