Golden Post Kennel

Awesome! They are great with my pets, and very knowledgable. All staff are trained in animal behavior, which is very helpful. Vicki, the owner is awesome. I have been taking my pets there for over 20 years. Something must keep me coming back!

I have been using the Golden Post Kennel for more than 20 years now, with a variety of different pets. This place is awesome! The owner/manager, runs a top rate kennel, does pet rescue, and pet training. All of her staff have had pet behavior training. I am always confident that my pets are going to be safe, happy, and well cared for when I drop them off at the Golden Post. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Golden Post. You won’t be disappointed!

Great service and price..

I care for a disabled husband and in August of 2013 we lost our dog of 7 years due to illness. A few months later I decided to get a puppy ( 6 week old Golden Retriever) but had forgotten how much care, attention and work puppies need. When I took her to the vet for shots, I inquired about obedient training and the vet recommended Bright Hope. I contacted Vicki Palmore and got Abby into a training class and with that I received 3 free days of daycare at Golden Post. Abby has been going there 2-4 days a week (based on my schedule) since October 2013 and an occasional overnight. Abby is always excited and ready to get in the car when I tell her it is time to go play with other puppies. When I drop her off, I always walk into a very happy environment. Everyone is professional, courteous and knows Abby. Everything is clean and she has never come home with fleas. From the wagging of her tail, I know she is happy and I have never worried about leaving her. In fact, once we walk in, I no longer exist. She is eager to go with the staff to start her day of fun. She gets to socialize with other dogs, lots of exercise and not always ready to come home. They offer treats (at a reasonable price), grooming, and are always helpful in answering any questions. As Abby gets out grows the puppy stage, I will continue to take her to daycare. For the services Abby receives, the prices are very reasonable.
I think Golden Post is awesome in every way! Abby is my child and no one would want their child to be unhappy! I would highly recommend Golden Post to anyone who asked! With my situation, I would be at a loss without them and would either be without Abby or she would spend more time in a crate. Golden Post and the staff are an extended family to us.

The kennels are clean! Our dog, Daisy, may go outside or inside as she chooses. The staff is friendly and well trained. Daisy enjoys walks or playtimes or extra treats for a small extra charge Daisy comes home smelling just like she did when we dropped her off--no disinfectant smell and no deodorant/fragrance at all. No fleas! Pet owners are welcome to take a tour of the kennels and often we have walked Daisy back to her kennel when we leave her.

Recently we started to need someone to walk Daisy at our house, so I called Golden Post for a recommendation. A young woman who works in the kennels is able to help us. When Daisy saw a car in the driveway, she began to bark! But when Daisy met the young woman at the front door, Daisy changed attitude! Daisy was surprised, but recognized the young woman and Daisy was thrilled to see her! I think that says a great deal about the care Daisy receives at the kennels!

The owners are knowledgeable and helpful. We have also taken advantage of private lesson training for our dog with Bright Hope. It was a joy! We understand and enjoy our pet on a new level.

The cost varies by the pet's weight and I felt it was reasonable. I like the fact that they have the individual kennels so, during the day, your dog can be in a small outside area so that they don't have to let them out. They open up the doors and the dog can go out into the little area where the sun is, or go back inside the kennel. The staff there is very friendly. The manager lives, literally, right behind the kennel; less than two hundred yards and breeds German Sheperds. She can see the kennel from her house. They offer playtime for your dog where they will either play individually, or they'll take them out with a group of other dogs, which helps break up the boredom that your dog's going to have. I used to take my dog in just to visit as a puppy and we would walk through the kennel area so that she got used to the place before I just left her there, and they were always receptive to that happening. I definitely will use them again and I always recommend them to friends. I like them better than the vet's, because, at the vet's they're in cages and then they just take them out every once in a while. I found them about 18 years ago when I had my other dog.

This was our first time using this kennel and when I dropped him off, everything was clean, they were organized and professional, someone even took Sinbad and walked him around while I filled out the paperwork, which I very much appreciated. They allowed me to go back with him to his pen and say a final goodbye. When I went back to pick him up, they were once again, very organized and professional. He appeared to be clean and they had all his items in a bag. My concerns began when I put him in his crate to go home. I reached in to take his leash off and he pulled back. I didn't think much of it until I got home and he continued to pull back whenever I would reach down to pet him or reach for something near him. I called the kennel and asked if anything had happened while he was there and she didn't know of anything but was going to talk to the person who handled him. When she called back she again told me there was nothing they were aware of, and I should call back if it continued. It gradually got better and, figuring they weren't going to say anything different anyway, I wrote it off and decided I simply wouldn't take him there again, but when I took him to our son's house, who has two dogs, he again acted abnormal. Rather than engaging, he pulled up close to my leg. It took quite awhile before he interacted with them. Again, I called and asked if there was anything anyone could remember from his visit that would cause this kind of behavior and they couldn't think of anything. I don't know if anything happened or not, but he has been boarded numerous times at two other locations and has never acted like this afterwards.

Left our dog for 5 days while we went out of town. Our dog is big, deaf and very headstrong. The caregivers were very professional and understanding of our needs. When we returned to pick up our dog, they gave us a report on his week and how he handled the stress of our absence. They were very caring and you could tell when they brought him out to us that he had been well cared for. We were able to bring his own food from home and a favorite toy as well as his bed. The kennels were spacious and clean and water was kept available for him at all times. Gunner had a great time and we were able to enjoy our vacation. Definitely will use Golden Post Kennel again.

I have had good luck with this service. The people who work there are friendly and seem to know my pets by name. I bring the dogs to be boarded and bring their food. At check in, I am asked if they have any special needs, if they will need special play time, if they have brought any toys, and they verify that shots are up to date. I pick them up, and they seem well cared for. One time, when I picked up, the younger dog came home with an injured tail. It was sore for several days, but healed up fine. I think that she may have injured it going from inside through the small door to outside.

Golden Post has a nice place out in the country, and many of the kennels have open areas for the dogs to go outside if they wish; one of my dogs loves staying outside no matter what the weather, so I know she appreciates being able to go outside whenever she likes (which isnt always the case at home!) The kennels have always been very clean, and the management doesnt mind me taking my dogs back to the kennels to say goodbye. They have a nice selection of treats and bones Ive bought for the dogs, which makes leaving them a little bit easier. Two of my dogs are sisters, and every time I request that they be put together, the management is fine with this. They seem to enjoy what they do, and though I havent used this service (my dogs would love it if I did), theyll even take your dogs for a walk. In the 10 or so years Ive been taking my dogs to Golden Post, I havent once had a problem. Well, I take that back; one time I forgot to bring one of my dogs proof of vaccination from my vet, but Golden Post called my vet to get assurance of this so I wouldnt have to delay my vacation (that would have been bad!!!) When I took my dogs to GP this spring, I called within days of my vacation, which admittedly wasnt smart of me. But miraculously, during the busiest period of spring break, they had room for my 3 girls and werent rude at all about me being so late with my planning.

The only downfall is that they have limited times to pick up and drop off the animal. The cost is approximately $12 a day depending on the size of the dog. I would recommend them.

WE HAVE BEEN USING GOLDEN POST PET BOARDING FOR 5 YRS. NOW. BOTH OF OUR DOGS HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS AND THE STAFF AT GOLDEN POST ARE TERRIFIC WITH THEM! THEY ARE COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL TO THE ''NON-FURRY'' CLIENTS, AS WELL. I HAVE RECOMMENDED THEM TO MANY PEOPLE OVER THE YEARS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.

VERY CLEAN, WAY OFF THE ROAD, MEMBER LEFT 3 CATS THERE FOR 9 DAYS, IN GREAT SHAPE WHEN SHE PICKED THEM UP, LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE WELL FED and GROOMED. CLEAN FOOD and WATER, CLEAN PADS TO SLEEP ON - DOGS HAVE DOORS TO GO OUTSIDE WHEN THEY WANT.
