SWIM POOLS INC

I filed a police report and called my insurance company to file a claim. The insurance company asked me to contact a pool professional and have them perform the necessary work. I called Swim Pools because they had built the pool and had maintained it for over 30 years. My family had done thousands of dollars in business with them over the years. They were told that their invoice should contain all expenses necessary to return the pool to the same condition it was in prior to the crime and that the invoice would be used by my insurance company to pay the claim. I asked them to cleaning the pool of all debris, correct the water chemistry, and inspect the pool's circulation system for damage. They did not show up for weeks. Then they spent a few hours vacuuming the pool and adding a few more chemicals to remove metals from the water. They then readied the pool for winter and called the job complete. The pool water was still to cloudy to see the bottom, so there was still much debris left. I tested the chemistry after their work and found it to be highly acidic. I drove to Swim Pools to inquire about it, but was told not to worry. I did not open the pool until late June. I found that the pool heater had been damaged significantly by the acidic chemistry and the filter damaged due to tiny bits of plastic from chemical containers that had been left to decay over the winter. I called the manufacturer of the pool heater and was told that any time you have metals in your pool chemistry, you should suspect corrosion of the heater's components. I called the insurance company to asked for additional reimbursement for these expenses, but was told that they could not pay for repairs not included on the pool company's invoice. They suggested I contact Swim Pools and request that they perform the work at no expense. I have tried repeatedly to contact Swim Pools, but have received no reply. I am in the process of filing a claim against them in small claims court for $1,700 in additional expenses.
