About us
Since 2013, the professionals of Summers have been proud to serve the Fort Wayne community from our central location. We, however, have been around much longer than that. In fact, our family-owned company is backed by more than four decades of industry experience! From heating to cooling to plumbing to indoor air quality, we can provide a wide range of superior and affordable services. As an HVAC and plumbing company, we are proud to meet the needs of our Fort Wayne neighbors in a wide variety of ways. From helping protect your basement from flood damage with a sump pump to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a water heater, we can do it all. We are primarily focused on serving residential needs, but we do have a light focus on commercial customers in the local area. Top quality doesn’t have to mean top dollar. We understand the financial burden that a plumbing, heating, or cooling emergency can have on your bank account, which is why we guarantee to either match or beat our competitors’ prices, every time. We are honest and up-front about repair and replacement costs, never recommending the more expensive option just so we can make an extra buck. We’re on your side. Plumbing License: CO50800234. HVAC License: H0020136.

The quote I received was pretty outrageous. A job like this is less than $10 in parts, so basically they had $218 in labor/profit. Most plumbers are approx. $70 per hour so they quoted it as (3) hours. I called them to discuss the quote and they held their ground on the price and didn't seem to have an intelligent way to approach the issue. Honestly, I don't think they sent a licensed plumber to do the estimate.
Needless to say, I called another plumber. It took 21 minutes from the moment the plumber knocked on my door until he was walking out with his tools and the job was complete. Parts were (1) approx. $5 coupling.
Scheduling was easy by phone. Called and let me know the serviceman was running behind schedule and he'd get here as soon as he could. Scheduled for noon to 2, arrived at 3:20.
The serviceman was also the general manager for this area, a rarity in heating and cooling, He first serviced the A/C unit including taking all the surround off and hosing it all down, including using a spray cleaner to clean it as best he could. I've never had another provider take that much effort to clean the unit. All service elements checked out fine. Then went to the basement to service the unit from there plus check the furnace. Cleaned the blower, checked all electronic elements, tested appropriate voltages and current flows, flushed the drain, checked the output of both the furnace and air, was very thorough. He suggested to me how I could make the unit a bit more efficient through taping of ductwork, even though I'd done some of it already. I told him where I was having trouble keeping the temperature constant and he made suggestions to help.
We also talked about sump pumps since they handle plumbing as well and my sump system is 22 years old.
I asked him about filters and he suggested a couple web sites where I could buy them cheaper than he could get them. He also explained about their year-round maintenance agreement, which is cheaper for heat, air and plumbing than most companies' heat and air agreements.
All service was done, place was left spotless, and he was gone in 2 hours.
