I am extremely satisfied with Strebig Construction.  Jim Coe is a smart contractor, meticulous in his work.  You really want him working on your project!  He insists on a clean work site.  There was never a mess.
Project costs:  subcontractor costs were very transparent, including Strebig profit.
Options:  Mr. Coe suggested reasonable options which made economical and energy saving sense to do.
Cost control:  every time I wanted to replace something, Mr. Coe would tell me whether the existing item could be used or not.  He did not incur unnecessary or frivolous costs.
Creativity:  Mr. Coe solved the problem of how to create a new laundry room out of an existing closet by simply moving a wall, which was a clever and inexpensive solution. This also allowed me to create a new coat closet.
Availability to answer questions:  Mr. Coe was always courteous and pleasant, patiently listened to ALL my questions, explained everything patiently and professionally, and never talked down to me because I am a woman.  He always answered my questions per email in an expedient manner and returned phone calls on a timely basis.
Subcontractor management:  good management of subcontractors.
Demolition:  no debris was left lying around at the end of the day.
Timetable:  The project fell a little behind schedule, but through no fault of Strebig.  It is always a domino effect.  For example, due to the rains in June/July 2013, the plumber was pulled off to deal with flooding at his other sites.  If one subcontractor gets behind, including your interior decorator, it creates a problem for all of them.  I budgeted one month overrun, and the final overrun ended up being 1 1/2 months.  This was acceptable to me.
Project follow-up:  after I moved in, there were still odds and ends of things to adjust or fix. There was never a problem getting someone from Strebig to come out and fix it.  You do not have to worry about the contractor disappearing after you move it.  Jim Coe's mantra is:  "We will make it right."  And he does.
Total project timeframe:  I started getting contractor estimates in March, reviewed them and selected contractor in April, demolition work started in May, Strebig completed project in Sept.  Note:  be sure to select an interior decorator early in the process.  The project also fell behind because I did not find an interior decorator until early June, and it took her time to come up to speed.  A good interior decorator will come up with interesting solutions and also prevent you from making a lot of errors with layout of kitchen and baths.

I called Glen Claycomb in the dark with no power before the storm was even done asking advise and help.  He was out to my house the same day!  We had a hold up with the insurance adjuster and couldn't start work for 3 weeks, but that was not the contractors fault.  Things have gone according to schedule - just finishing up this week.
