We just had our upstairs bathroom completely remodeled Springer came out super fast gave us a responsible quote for the work and got start pretty quickly. The crew members were super professional and polite and did fantastic work. Duane the ower was super nice and came out to the house after it was done to make sure we were happy with the work. I would highly recommend this company and will be using them for future projects. The work they did was well worth the money we paid it most certainly added value to our home. Thanks Springer construction for all your great work!

Very unsatisfied...… It took 3 weeks to organize a time with our tenants to set up access to the back yard and when Springer would be able to look at the repairs. When the estimator from Springer arrived he said that he does not go on roofs, and they are too busy to wake the time to do any repairs. The person taking the scheduling was aware of the reason for the estimate. Our tenant took a day off work to arrange to be there for the appointment. After the estimator said he would not look at it I called and talked with the scheduler, office manager and over the next 2 days called and left messages for the owner. To this point there has been no contact from the business Dwyane. I would not contact this company again.
Response from Springer Construction Inc.
"This project was not sold. Nor did we give an estimate. From the beginning we told [Member Name Removed] that we do not work on projects that small from the initial phone call from [Member Name Removed]. But we did take a look at the issue to make sure that it is something that we do not do. We schedule appts. by when they arrive and the severity of the issue at hand. The appt. was made and accepted by [Member Name Removed]. We are sorry that we could not meet the tenants time frame."

ZERO stars! This was the worst company we have ever done business with. Before you hire this company, do your homework! Check out BBB, Angie's List, company's own website, etc. to read the negative reviews left. We met with a representative of this company last Spring about re-roofing our home and detached garage, and also replacing damaged wood and re-roofing the carport. We signed the Contract and paid half money down ($4,388). They completed roofs and carport work. In the process, shingles fell down all four sides of our two-story home. Had black skid marks from the backs of the old shingles down the siding, as well as scratches and dents. Every window wrap on first floor was damaged. Black marks went down two sides of our garage and one wall of the neighbor's garage. Plus more damages. The owner of this company's first offer included US paying them an additional $2,450 to repaint the siding. Their second offer included them paying us $750 to do it ourselves. Owner refused to make a claim against his "up to $2,000,000" insurance policy indicated on the contract, or even provide name of insurance company. After we refused their offers, they hired an attorney and took a lien (for more than the remaining balance amount) against our home. They threatened to sue and foreclose on our home if we did not pay the remaining half. We were accused of lying (even though admission of damages was made in writing). In the end the owner settled with us and we will not pay the balance owed. The Lien is released. Luckily, we had to expend no attorney fees. We do have to pay out of our own pockets to fix all the damage they caused. What a shame this company would choose to fight, lose their entire lien amount and I assume incur months of attorney fees and expense, rather than just fix the damages they caused in the first place!
Response from Springer Construction Inc.
"Please enter what you would like the response to look like:We did have a few issues with the siding having on three sides of the house black marks on the siding from shingles sliding down. The only marks were visible were from approx. 6' from the bottom row of the siding. Not the complete house. There were also on four of the window aluminum wrap that had some denting from the shingles falling down. We offered to replace the damaged window trim and to repaint the entire home. ( The owners had talked to my salesman about repainting the complete home or to remove the old siding and replace with new vinyl siding and all the trim. We knew this from the onset of the contract ) We tried to work with this couple only to be shut down every time I tried to get some type of communication going. The reason the lien was issued was to get the owners to talk to us so we could get this issue resolved. No other reason for the lien accept that. We offered to reside the complete for just cost of the materials and labor. No mark up.The owners would see the bills for materials and labor. This would of have saved the owners around $15.000 for the complete siding project. We also offered to repaint the entire house and to rewrap the damaged windows. Springer Construction Inc. would of had picked up the around $4000.00 of the entire bill. With the balance of having the entire house and windows rewraped for only $$2450. The also refused that offer. We tried to get this issue resolved but the owners refused everything we offered. The [Member Name Removed] owed my company $4388. the balance of the project. The final point that I had figured out was no matter what we offered they refused. So I told my attorney to send the [Member Name Removed] a letter that I am going to not collect the final balance of$4388,.They can keep the remaining balance and do what ever they wish. I'm done trying to make something work. They kept the balance. Had there roof done for $4388. Instead of $8776. I removed the lien from the property and moved on. I tried to get this project finished correctly. But the owners refused to talk."

The work was completed incorrectly and the room leaks onto the flooring.  This has ruined the floors in the room.  Dwayne didn't get the required permits for this job which was a violation of the township. Dwayne essentially said that the issue is not his fault and that the people who did the work before his company was responsible .

I hired a general contractor to complete the botched job Springer did.  They had to take everything down to the studs.  This was how it should have been done by Springer.  The new company did a great job.  Once the new crew began work, they noticed how negligent the work Springer did.  We had mold growing under the floor tiles that Springer came back out to correct.  I have a powerpoint review done by the second contractor that shows all the poor work Springer did.  He was hired as a general contractor to convert this room.  He never stated anything else was needed to be completed for him to convert this room.  I hired an attorney to review his contract after Springer wouldn't stand by his word.. He felt we would have a 50/50 chance of getting money back from this negligent work because the contact was so vaguely written.  Shame on me for trusting Duane!  I decided not to move forward.  I would caution anyone using this guy.  He isn't honest.  Basically, I paid $20k for windows.  He took me to the cleaners.  Expensive life lesson leaned.  Wish you all better luck.
Response from Springer Construction Inc.
"The only response I have to this complaint is Mr [member name removed] Should have had the company that installed the third story floor / second story ceiling . Anyone who would try to get money out of a person that works on the second story room and have the third story screened in porch knows that the screens will leak in to below the room below. This is a scam artist at work. No other comment other than the business that installed a now leak floor on the third story is out of business."

Entry Doors installed very well except for one, where reinstalling a storm door back onto one door frame wouldn?t fit; workers professional and cleaned up well. Problem, was we were unable to re-install our storm door back onto the door frame, where they had installed a new entry door onto, because when they wrapped the door frame in aluminum, it made the door opening smaller then a standard 36" sized door opening. And when we called to inform them that our storm door wouldn't fit back onto the door frame, they claimed that since they didn't remove the storm door, they weren't responsible to put it back on or problems with re-installing it. And they wouldn't return calls for 2 weeks afterwards, and then when we finally got a hold of them, Duane said he would come out the next week and take a look at it, but never showed up or called.  They had their money by this point!
It isn't fair or should matter who took the storm door off its hinges.  They didn't leave a standard opening to ever install a storm door again on that opening.

** 12/11/14** There are always two sides to a story!  It was unprofessional for Duane to have called me back after this review was posted and yell at me stating that what I wrote was incorrect, giving me his side of the story and blaming everything of why the storm door wouldn?t fit back on and stating that they would not be doing business with us again and referred me to contact Bushey?s Company for any further issues with our doors.
Response from Springer Construction Inc.
"As I read the response from the owners. I had to step back and look at what was actually done that would be our fault for the owners storm door not fitting. I called and talked to the owner about the door issue and to find out that a storm door was removed before we arrived. My installers installed a door with minimum clearance due to a builder error. A brick wall was withing a min. of a couple of inches from the front of the opening. My installers had a hard time actually installing the new door into this opening. The door was sold with Aluminum cladding to the brick molding. With this cladding in no way should this affect the installation of a storm door. What does affect the installation of the storm door is the fact that there was not enough room to install the storm door into a smaller than normal opening. You would never get a storm door of normal size to fit. I offered to return to install the storm door with a few ways to make this fit. But I was told I said I would return the following day or in a week to door this. I had told them it would be a few weeks before I could return. The owners beat the storm door into place and blaming that on my company. Which I said I would come and install it for them. at no cost."

Egress Window Service
We decided not to go with them. We had already paid for the lining for the egress window outside that keeps the dirt out. But he had not ordered it yet. We decided not to go with them. He would not give us our money back for that. He got kind of nasty about it and said that he had already ordered it. I am pretty sure he had not ordered it. We would not recommend them. With regard to responsiveness, it was fine in the beginning, but it was just nasty towards the end. I wouldn’t use them again in the future.

"Lets put some facts to the letter sent by [Removed name]. [Removed name]. signed our contract on the 16th of October 2013. He wrote us a check for $ 4000. 00. What this check was for was a deposit for the installation of a exterior insulated side door into the garage. A 4' by 4'Egress window for side of the house at an existing small window. This also included the retaining walls to hold back the dirt that needed to be removed and aprox. 45' of drainage tile to remove the downspout water to another place in the yard. These are no problem for us. I had told [Removed name]. that is could take upto or longer for the window and the egress opening to come in as all of this is special order. He said no problem as they were not in a hurry. The window was to be delivered on 12/1/2013. The retaining wall was to be delivered aprox. 2-weeks after the windows. Springer Construction called to let them know this and at that time we were told that [Removed name]. did not want to install the egress window. due to security reasons. I let [Removed name]. know that due to the recent rains we would not be able to install the items asap because the ground was saturated and we would tear up the complete lawn getting this installed. I said I would call back when all items were here and we were ready to install. Two weeks later I returned a call to [Removed name]. and said we are ready to install the window and etc. And at that time he said he did not want us to install the windows and wanted his money back. The were not going to do the complete project at all. I had ask him why did he not call at an earlier time. And his comment I quote" I didn't think you had it ordered yet" . I informed him that all the items were i n stock now and if he does not have us install the windows etc. he would loose his deposit. We had already installed the side door to the garage weeks before. [Removed name]. refused to has us install the egress window/ Tile work / Retaining wall/ According to the contract [Removed name]. . [Removed name]. said we should return the unused portion of the items above. As ca business owner this will not be returned as the owners refused to take delivery. Actually after deducting the side door. the balance of the deposit is actually 40%. I am greatly Sorry that [Removed name]. did not want his egress window installed. But we left this in his hands to call back if he should of changes his mind. It has been more than a year and now he would like to make issue with an item that was in his court all along. I have lost money on this deal as I have tried to relocate these items with no avail. The items were donated. No return was granted due to these reasons."

He tore up my yard with their trucks. They came out and did compact the yard but didn’t reseed. They left about 300 nails on the ground. My wife picked up 21 nails in the driveway alone. He was very belligerent and shouldn’t be dealing with older people. He called me names to my face and completely unprofessional. I feel like he showed false advertisement on the radio as “my first bid, is my best bid.” His first bid was $9200. I told him that I was not going to pay $1000 more than a bid from another company and told him I wouldn’t pay that so he matched my other bid. He also did the same thing to my neighbor.

I talked to the owner hour before signing the contract. He filled it out as we were talking and then I signed it. The particular type of windows I wanted for the home were criss-crossed and I had specifically requested that the replacement windows would be the same. When the windows were delivered, they were not the criss-cross style that the owner and I had discussed. When I called him about it, he said, "You signed the contract, gotcha." He said I would have to re-order all of the windows and that it would cost thousands more. While I should have read the contract before signing, I thought it was poor customer service. He wouldn't ever offer a discount or anything like that for the mistake.
Response from Springer Construction Inc.
"After receiving this incorrect letter from Ms. [member name removed] I pulled her file just as a reminder as what we had done on her home. Since this was over two years ago. Ms. [member name removed] did purchase windows from my company in October of 2012. She was given the cost of grids in her windows and with out. She declined to have grids in her window of any kind. At the install she informed me that she was to have top grids in her windows. I proceeded to look at the contract and paperwork that I had. And nowhere did it say that she was to have grids in any of the windows. I would never say Gotcha as she claimed. I told Ms. [member name removed] if she wanted top grids that we could change them out for the cost of just the sash and nor charge for changing the windows out. That was the least I could do. As I looked back the grids that I had quoted her were never Diamond grids to start with. As a matter of fact the manufacturer of her windows doesn't even offer Diamond grids. Ms. [member name removed]. evidently does not remember the details. We have this all documented. After the windows were installed. The following months we installed more windows in a unfinished attic. If she was so disturbed by the first set of windows why did she have us come back to install more of the same windows? We have not heard from Ms. [member name removed] since 2012."

Before hiring Springer Construction I had called nearly every window company on Angie's list. I did receive quotes from several other companies, but I was disappointed by either their lack of confidence in the replacement, unwillingness to stand behind their work or lack of knowledge about what needed done to fix the problem (i.e. trying to sell me a replacement window, which wouldn't have solved the problem). I even had a couple of people tell me they weren't interested in taking the risk in fixing my issue.
Duane was extremely knowledgeable and more importantly willing to stand behind his work. They showed up on time and did a fantastic job of replacing my window. It's been over a year now and the dormer window that used to leak every time it rained has been put to the test in many storms and performed perfectly.
I watched them as they worked and I know for a fact that window was installed better than any other window in my house (use of ice and water shield, attention to drip edges and overlaps, etc.) I have complete confidence in their installation and without a doubt they would be my go to contractor if I have any issues with other windows in my home.

Obviously this was not an important project.  Our scheduling was difficult.  Weather delays for the roof were understandable but not for the interior repairs.  Frustrating when twice we were told they would be there at 7am and did not come until 830am when I had to pay for someone to be here at 7am.  The inside workers (not Dan) were unclear on where or what they were to work on, were loud with obscenities (this is a business) and left things a mess.

The roof was repaired (time will tell if it was a good job) the skylight replaced in one room and a second skylight removed and boarded in.  After all the repairs were done, they finished the ceilings back to match and patched the replaced drywall.  I asked Duane if they were going to paint and his reply was "I don't want to" but they did come back to paint.  I paid for the paint and 2 guys were here for an hour or two painting two walls.

After paying my bill, I got a call that they forgot to charge me for the drywall (which my contract stated would be priced on a time and material basis) and they were charging me $325 for painting.  I wrote to Duane and said that was excessive and the wall should have been returned to its normal look.  He called and said it didn't say in the contract that they would paint (it didn't) and that I would not get a warranty for the roof repair until it was paid. I said he hadn't told me it would cost so much for such a little job and his reply was "you didn't ask".  I then said I wouldn't be using them for the rest of the roof next year and he said that was okay because I had been a total pain about the whole thing!

So, I will pay it but I think it was exorbinant price for something that should have been included, and if he had said, I'll do it but it will be $325, I would have gotten someone else.

I did not want to write a negative review on a small business but the attitude has put me over.

Response from Springer Construction Inc.
"This project like every other project is always important. We strive to complete every project with the uttmost care. [removed member name] has a very limited memory of what really went on. The roofing went very smooth as normally it does. The only items that we had to deal with was the initial costing of the project. I had requoted the project five different ways trying to make the project more cost manageable. I had quoted the complete building/ half the building/ different areas of the building/ Just shingling over and not a tear off/ then replacing the skylights and finally replacing the roof in one area with the replacement of one skylight and closing up the other skylight. This quote did have in it the drywall repair, But only as a estimated amount. $325.00. Due to not sure what is underneath the drywall. No where in the quote was at any time painting discussed. I normally do Not put painting in quotes due to the fact most homeowners want to save a few dollars and paint themselves. [removed member name] signed the quote on 6/5/2014. To make a long story short. All work except the drywall was done. In the complete time that we so far had been working with [removed member name] we had scheduling issues. Whether it was the weather or [removed member name] did not want us to do any work unless it was a Tuesday, And had to be after the 8:30 am time. The comment was made by [removed member name] that she would have to get out of bed so early. This is why most of the issues with the scheduling was so delayed. I did make the comment that I didn't want to paint. That was actually supposed to be a joke. But it obviously wasn't. We paint all remodels that the homeowners wish not to. It is up to the home owners. I don't believe the quality of the paint was an issue but just the cost. I had Two of my guy's at the remodel to paint the ceiling and walls. The total time that was charged was 4- hours for two guy's. Which equates to 8-full hours. I could have charged per man hour $65.00 which would have been $520.00. This is the amount per hour that I had quoted [removed member name] . I thought I was giving [removed member name] a deal. Guess not. [removed member name] wrote in a side note back with her invoice and did not include the $325.00 . [removed member name] wrote in her note she was not going to pay for the painting "Quote" I will not pay $325 for painting. To charge $325 extra is an exorbitant amount for the time it took for something that should have been included. I did not include the painting for that exact reason. I stated to [removed member name] the amount per person I would be charging. Not one comment was made that at that time it was to expensive. [removed member name] was fully aware of the cost per hour before we painted the ceiling and walls. As a business we strive to give the homeowner the option of doing some of the work themselves. I would be glad to send a copy of the letter I received from [removed member name] at there request."

I called them for an estimate and they promised to do it and they never followed through. They told me that they would get back to me by June 9th and they didn't. In fact, I held up my work, I had another bid and I was waiting for theirs. I waited on the work to get their bid and I never got it.
When I called them back, the person I talked to didn't seem to know what happened and didn't know why they hadn't gotten back. She seemed a little frustrated that somebody else in the business didn't follow through.

Overall, we were very satisfied with the experience from the estimate to the completion of the job. Examples:
-The estimator was very informative--I believe he was the owner of the company. He didn't try to sell to hard, but seemed more to be explaining what he offered. Other estimators we had for similar projects were over the top in "selling" us on their company.
-Communication with the office was good--I had the need to contact them about a clarification of the job. The person I spoke with was great to deal with. She also kept us informed during the time between giving the go ahead and when the job was complete. She also followed up with a call to see what we thought of the completed project.
-Work quality was very good--We are very happy with the new door and how it was installed.
-Dedicated workers--The men who came to do the work weren't provided with the correct caulk. They did as much as they could and then went to get the right color and to work on another job. They came back early in the evening and worked until it was dark to make sure the job was done even though they'd had a very long day.
The next time I need similar work done, I will be contacting Springer again.
