Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

We had a very unprofessional experience with Roto Rooter that ended in no solution and a decent amount of money lost. We called Roto rooter because we were having flooding in our crawl space. This company claims to do water restoration and plumbing services, so they seemed like the best place to call. I clearly explained our situation to the phone operator and he helped me schedule for both a plumber AND a technician to come out so see if they could see what was going on. When the day of service came, they only sent a plumber who acted like he thought he was coming to unclog a pipe, which isn't close to the issue I explained over the phone. The man was rude and unprofessional from the very beginning. He shined a flashlight into our crawlspace and clean-out, told us he couldn't go down there or do anything, and offered to jet the line. While we were upset that he didn't look into the problem at all, we decided to go ahead with jetting the line. Just a few days prior, we were quoted approximately $400 for this job, but the plumber came back and said it would be over $900. When asked why the price was over double the initial quote, we were told they can't give accurate quotes over the phone. However, the plumber said there was "no way it would ever be that cheap", if that's the case, why did the office give us a number? I feel like it's a marketing trick and do not appreciate the deception. I do understand why the plumber didn't want to go into the crawl space, however I clearly explained the situation BEFORE scheduling a service call and was told they could check it out. The plumber said they would never go into a wet crawlspace (again, I understand why) so why would the office send someone out knowing they couldn't do a thing? The only reasonable assumptions I can make: They knew they couldn't help before they came, and figured they would get a full $210 service fee for 5 minutes of work OR that we would give in and pay for jetting the line even though it was over double the initial quote. The rudeness we experienced from staff offered no other insight, so no other assumptions can be made. I am highly disappointed, hurt, and out $210 at a time when we are hurting to get this repair done at all. Please take my words into account before hiring this company. There is a major disconnect between the office and the technicians, and neither have good customer service skills.

Technician was nice, but he said the fee was going to be DOUBLE THE AMOUNT I was quoted on the phone. I was $197 and then technician said it would be $400 something. And I said that was not the price I was given over the phone. I told them I was not gonna pay that, and they said I owed $89.55 for a service fee!! Sounds like “bait and switch “to me. I was willing to pay $235, which is their price for an outside cleanout, which is more than the $197 inside cleanout. But not DOUBLE the quoted price!!

Called to schedule a plumber around 4pm and was originally told they wouldn’t have anyone available until the 8-10pm slot, which would be charged an additional $75 for an emergency appointment. We scheduled the 8-10pm appointment and around 4:30pm I got a call that a plumber was available earlier than expected, so we would not be charged the additional emergency fee. Plumber arrived around 5pm and the job was completed in under an hour. He was very knowledgeable, polite, and professional. The pricing for RotoRooter’s services leans a bit on the higher end for plumbers in the Fort Wayne area, RotoRooter is the only company offering a warranty for their services. I’m happy to pay a little more to have that peace of mind.

I only looked at the company profile. In my area it is nearly impossible to find people who will do work. Either they are very busy, very far away, not on the Internet or advertise by word of mouth only (because there is so much work). And, forget getting someone from a larger city to help out. They can care less about the rural folk. For finding contractors in my area Angie's List is completely useless.

Great. Technician came on Saturday morning after I scheduled appt on Friday. Roto-Rooter charges regular rates on Saturday. He was here about 40 minutes and clogged drain was running fine. 3. month warranty

Fine until I tried to use the coupon. $20 off for Angie's List members. Plumbing and Drain services. The technician told me it didn't apply to what I had done. I called the office and they told him to honor it, but really feel he tried to rip me off. The coupon is worded very generically. Trying to exclude certain services feels very dishonest to me. The bill was $176 before the $20 was taken off!

Great service as it was not an easy job but completed to satisfaction.

Did not accept Angie's List coupon because no parts needed to be replaced. Charged $107 to tighten a loose fitting. There is still a slight leak.

My shower is very complex with a steam system, etc. Other plumbers had declined to work on it. John arrived prepared and had extensive knowledge of complex systems. He was able to fix the problem and was helpful in explaining the system to me. We also needed a new sump pump. John's work was thorough and professional. I am very pleased and relieved to have found a reliable plumber.

Our Technician Ed was prompt, professional, and friendly. Looked at our problem quoted a price, we accepted, and he went to work on our problem. He got done in a timely manner and cleaned up. No complaints here, and this was our first time using Roto Rooter...Will be the first to call in the future if needed.

ABOVE AND BEYOND! Thank you to Rob and John and John (owner) for the recent fix to my sewer line. Rob and John did a fantastic job fixing the broken sewer line! But what I most appreciate is that my A/C unit was in the way so they arranged for John (owner) to come out and remove and then later re-attach my A/C unit. John (owner) came back late in the evening to re-attach the A/C unit after a LONG day. What a great group of guys and a working owner is a rare thing to find these days. I would highly recommend Roto-Rooter!

Terrible, charged $440 to attempt to clean out, worked for about 45 min and their wire wasn't long enough so nothing got accomplished. Then called 3 times to give me a quote on getting a locate done for another $180 and then installing a new cleaning out for $3500. I got it done for $220 from Shoda in about an hour.

Contacted Roto Rooter at 11:30 AM for an appointment for a quote on the removal of an old Primary and Battery Back-up Sump Pumps and the installation of a new Primary and Back-up Sump Pumps. At 2:30 "Ed" arrived and gave me a quote which I thought was reasonable and he began his installation. By 4:00 PM he was finished and the total was $70.00 less than what he quoted because he didn't run into any unknown issues. "Ed" was Professional, Quick, and Very Polite . . , am exemplary employee for Roto Rooter!!

Came early fixed the problem and was gone in less than 1/2 hour.
Forgot to look in Angie's list first or I would have gotten $20.00 off.
Had other coupon for $10.00
