I thought I'd want him to install quarter-round or shoe molding but it looked fine without it. He did a nice job caulking along the edge of the shower and installing the reducer between the hallway carpet. I also had him replace the cove molding under the cabinetry.
We plan to redo nearly all the flooring in the house. Bob measured for some future projects and took the time to discuss materials and installation with us.
What can I say about Robert Bruns? He does not like to get to many things in writing I suppose I can blame both sides for that. The original deal was to complete the work and he said that he did not want to be paid until completion. We told him we were willing to give half upfront and half when the job is done.Mr.bruns said no he would take the whole sum when completed.About a week later he started on the job and he would leave and not come back.I would wait and call him 2 hours later and he would say something came up and he would come the next day. Then he would show up the next day and maybe skip two days.I would call him and sometimes he would return my call and there was times when he did not call back for a couple of days. All of this was causing a lot of trouble in my house and one of my family members got very upset with Mr.burns and when he called she told him that this whole thing was crazy.By this time Mr.burns had completed the first bathroom and decided that he wanted payed for half the work.Well that was not the deal we made hence what I said in the beginning about getting something in writing. So then we all had to talk about what was said at the start of the job and we did not agree on everything. So then Mr.bruns completed the job until the end but the whole job took 2 1/2 weeks total to complete.I know that Mr.bruns had other jobs to do but that is no excuse for how you handled yourself. No call no show and not always returning calls and blowing off half days and saying you will be back and then calling with a excuse.Mr.bruns can do good work he just has too much going on.
Robert assessed the existing linoleum flooring and determined that it might damage the subfloor to remove the existing flooring. The existing flooring was firmly attached to the subfloor in most places .Robert cut away any of the existing flooring that was not firmly attached.
The technician applied a skin coat over the existing flooring to make the floor smooth (the existing flooring had indentations in the pattern)
The new vinyl was then laid .
The only problem occurred when setting the date for service. I do not live in the house and I had thought Robert would call on a specified date when I would be in town to set the date for service. Robert did not call . Once I contacted Robert again, the date of service was set and Robert and his technician arrived at that time.
I found Bob's information from the flooring desk at Menards, they have several vendors listed, so I figured we'd give him a shot as he had nothing negative listed with the BBB. His phone number is (260) 705-4821. From the start Bob was great to work with. He was very friendly and helpful. He came out to our house and took all the measurements. We had shared with him that we were looking to purchase our flooring from an online retailer as it was considerably cheaper than any local store. Without any guarantee of getting the job, he gave us a checklist of how much of what type of materials we would need. He gave us a quote, which seemed very reasonable to me, so we decided to go with him. He let us know it would take about 2 days to complete. One other thing that I really liked was that he said we didn't pay him a cent until we're happy with the job.
We did all the prep work ourselves, removing the old carpet, tack strip, carpet pad, and staples. Once we completed all of that we gave him a call to get our installation scheduled. We lucked out in that he was able to start the next day. Bob and his crew were very friendly and courteous and were constanly sweeping up to avoid tracking dust throughout the house. They were very efficient with the laminate flooring and had very minimal loss. After seeing them install it I was very glad that I didn't attempt it myself. They had all the tools needed to get it done fast and correctly and had the expertise to do a great job. They got it completed in 2 days just like he said and we couldn't be happier with the end result. Bob stated that he installs all types of hard surface flooring so we plan to have him come out again when we're ready to tile our kitchen.
