- Most people go through an auction like this only once in a lifetime and one would expect a professional to appraise the sellers about everything involved. We expected guidance and professionalism. Instead we got hurry up and sell as much as possible, regardless of value. We feel he was taking advantage of a retired couple and their desire to downsize. Why not advise sellers, who are still going to be living in their home, that they might want to keep eating and cooking utensils, rather than selling them for pennies? Two months later we are eating off of paper plates and plastic utensils as we prepare to move; if he had advised us properly we would not have sold those things. In addition, we have since spoken with other auctioneers who have talked to us about "staging" the house for sale. Why did he not advise us of this? We would have kept more than the bare furnishings that we did.
We spoke with Randy Harvey twice after the auction about our dissatisfaction and he basically told us every point we had was our fault, a misunderstanding on our part. If we had it to do over again we would definitely not hire Randy Harvey Auctions.
We are currently preparing to sell our home through auction, using another auction company. We would have used Randy Harvey Auctions for our home sale if he had dealt with our personal property in far better manner. He has lost out on business because of it.
