Krause showed up on time and performed the tear-out of the old porch. After the foundation company had completed their work, Krause showed up to reinstall the porch on the 26th of Nov. Three crews came the first day. I was promised three crews the next day to complete the work. The following day, one crew showed up for work.
I pointed out two boards that had been split when the were fitted around a porch upright to the crew Lead. One split (dark grey) board had been patched with white caulking. He said he would take care of it. At this point, Krause wouldn't be able to complete the work in time for me to drive to FL for a Thanksgiving dinner with my family. So I called the Krause owner and told him I would go to FL and give him as much time as he needed to complete the work. I told him I would pay for the completed work after I got back to Indiana and inspected the work.
Almost 5 months later, I returned to IN to inspect the work and pay Krause construction for the work.
I found one rail had been cut down and there was a large gap between the rail top and bottom and the upright porch supports. There was a missing fascia board behind a step going from the porch to a lower level. One floor board and trim piece has been gouged and left in place. The step was canted, with one side about 3/4and quot; higher on one side. Neither of the split boards that I had pointed out to the crew lead had been fixed. The floor boards had not been trimmed flush with the outer trim strip. There was about 1/3and quot; gap showing behind the trim strip on at least three boards on the outside of the porch boards. The rough cut cedar trim had been replaced with a very bad job of cementing at the bottom of the wall brick wall and the flooring had been scratched and scarred from one end of the porch to the other when the cement tools/bucket had been dragged along the wall. The cement had already started coming off the wall in chunks. The crew left dropped screws between the deck boards and now can't be removed.
After I pointed all this out to the company owner, it still took another week and a half to repair what could be repaired. The floor still has the still has scarring.
Krause construction seems to rely on the home owner for quality control. I'm very disappointed with this whole project.
