Hoot Landscape & Design

Paid my down payment 6 weeks ago, never heard from them. I have emailed countless times to no response. Unprofessional would rate a 0/10 if I could but not possible. I’m not one to write reviews but this was so awful that I had to ensure no one else has this same issues.

I would NEVER recommend these people.

they came out in the cold cold weather, removed the stumps and trees, leaving the yard all leveled off and smooth looking. Great job

Matt, the owner, was always here when he said he would be. His team communicated with us throughout the work. We were delighted with the professionalism and passion of everyone we interacted with. We are really thrilled with the results! I would highly recommend them. After the landscaping was installed, Matt met with us to go over plant names and plant care. Again - nice touch!

We are more than happy with the results. The design and plant selection was a much needed upgrade from plants that had overgrown and hid the house from view. On time, did what they stated, gave us a detailed binder of how to care for plants. Returned during the drought to insure I was watering correctly.

For regular consumers like my wife and I this project completed by Hoot Landscape & Design was a very satisfying experience. Matt Denny who is the owner met with us a few weeks before this project started, listened to what we were trying to do, gave us his ideas and provided us with a layout drawing and cost estimate. We used Hoot last year for a similar project around the back of our house and we were also very satisfied. Matt and his crew of four arrived around 8:00 am two days earlier than originally scheduled. Matt is a take charge guy and he immediately had his crew in high gear and by 3:30 in the afternoon everything was done and cleaned up. It was amazing to us how much can be done in such a short amount of time. The success of Hoot to me lies in the fact that they are organized and that Matt brings a positive attitude to the job. This project was completed early and within budget. We would recommend Hoot Landscaping to anyone looking for a professional landscaping job at a reasonable price.  

Matt Denny and crew were not only professional but courteous and exacting.  Each shrubbery was put in exactly as designed to the inch.  The shrubbery and sod were in excellent condition and planted with care.  Upon leaving, instructions were given as to the care to be given until the plants were settled in.  It is seldom in this day to have this care given to the job.  I certainly will pass on this information to other condo owners.

Bill came to look at our yard, made several suggestions, then returned with a plan and quote.  We made some changes, then arranged for installation.  The crew was very professional, worked very hard and the results were excellent.  We have had some questions about watering and they have been responsive.    
We initially thought the cost for the new retaining wall was high, but after watching it installed and seeing the result, we understand.

Matt and his crew were prompt and the customer service was excellent. I was amazed at how quickly they cleared the property. I had a lot of vegetation to be removed and the yard needed to be completely cleared of years of mulch and waste.. Once the property was cleared they proceeded to put in the new vegetation, plant the new grass, and mulch the flower beds. I was impressed with the speed of their work and they completely cleaned up the area before they left. In fact, Matt and the crew also worked on areas of the yard, trimming and mulching, that were not included in the estimate and I was not charged for it. I plan on doing some additional work next spring and will definitely call Hoot. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs landscaping design and work. Thanks to Matt, Susan and the crew for a job well done!

They were very professional and timely. They designed a plan and seen it through. I would use them again. My only complaint is that they are very expensive. But I suppose you get what you pay for. Looks absolutely beautiful!

Well they got there around 8.30 and was done around 3.00 they done a beautiful job and Mat is such a great designer and helps every way he can I would recommend them to anyone very dependable and very easy to talk to thanks again.

They were here right on time and they were very good to talk to and work with .The main man Mat was very good and new excactly what he was doing I would get this company again for sure .

They are great. Their design is very good. The personnel were very easy to talk to and very professional. Their pricing is reasonable. 

It went outstanding, they hit every benchmark they gave me. They followed up with me about a year later to make sure the plants were still doing alright and that everything looked great. They knocked all my expectations out of the park.

They are fast and efficient. They have a wonderful variety of stock. They have a landscape architect who will come out and check things out. They did a flagstone pathway for me seven years ago that is still perfect. They built a retaining wall seven years ago that hasn't moved an inch. They tend to over book clients. Every landscaper tends to do the same thing.

It was wonderful. I'll really be able to know in the spring how it all turned out. They did give me guarantees on the plants though, so far, I have been completely satisfied.

Bill Hoot is a great person to work with. He had a clear vision for renovating our landscaping, and it was great to see the vision become a reality. Although the company tends to move slowly (e.g. it was over a month from initial planning to actual install of the landscaping), it was worth the wait, and much of the timing is beyond their control (e.g. weather). The actual tear-out and install went smoothly--a crew of four to five professionals. One day for tear-out, and one day for install. The difference is amazing--our home looks about 20 years younger now! We enjoyed going to the nursery prior to the install to pick out the type of plants that we wanted. We do have a couple of kinks to work out: they moved the lightpost and it doesn't work now and one of the plants is having a hard time adjusting. Overall, though, I'm sure that we will get those issues worked out. I think the company offers a good balance of quality and value. We got a few quotes, and their quote fell in the middle, but what sold was Mr. Hoot's vision for our property. He was able to include a couple of different ideas that solved some issues for us (e.g. trenching and draining of downspouts, a small privacy fence and flagstone in the area where we park our trash can, etc.) Thumbs up!

It was a great experience!! Working with this company is a dream. They arrived with a whole crew, all longtime employees and completed the project in one day. They are very popular, for obvious reasons, so you have to plan ahead. We loved the look they created, completely met our goal of improving our curb appeal. We sold in ONE WEEK!!! Can't thank them enough!!

We received 2 bids and chose Hoots primarily because of the way they worked with us on what we wanted as well as their competitive price. His landscape designer Susan is outstanding. Our daughter in law is a landscape designer in Charlotte and was extremely impressed with the design as well as the plants chosen by Susan. They used some of our existing plants as well as new ones. We wanted color for butterflies and hummingbirds and boy did they deliver! We had some large trees that needed to be cut down as well as a Japanese Maple that needed to be transplanted. It was nice to see how they all worked together. They arrived when they said they would and cleaned up before they left everyday. We can honestly say that when we re-landscape our front yard we WILL NOT get two bids! We will phone Bill Hoot and his gang. They are true professionals.
