These folks are well-meaning, but they appear to be understaffed with high ambitions. If you ask them anything, they can do it. But, when comes around to actually "doing it", not so much. After the lawn was mowed for $40, I hired them to trim evergreen shrubbery. Some of you know that evergreen shrubs need hand trimmed. Well, now my formerly gorgeous 6 evergreens that took 4 years to mature, have been shaved with a hedge trimmer into balls, no where near they true shape.
When I saw what the nice young man had done, I told him the day was over and he could not approach my shrubs again. He - and HLS's owner (Greg Doublas) said shrubs, any kind, are always shaved into balls, just like all the other companies in FW do it (not true).
Last they "edge" with a weed whacker not an edger. Whacking your grass to the ground near sidewalks, etc., is what they call edging. BTW, their prices (other than for mowing) change from day to day, over time. Last, they subcontract lawn fertilization. I did not know that until I came home and found yellow flags around my yard. The company they use is not on my "favorites" list so I asked the owner not to send them here again but, he did. He said it was because he had had a small medical procedure and he forgot to tell them.
Re the shrubs, owner Greg agreed with the worked that the shrubs would be replaced. They never were. Greg came to my house to tell me the shrubs were "lush" and he refused to live up to his promise. Little round shrubs are not "lush". He said he would bring an arborist by to prove him right. The arborist supposedly had Purdue degrees (?). To my knowledge that did not happen.
Here's the upshot: I was billed astronomical amounts for the very work I took issue with. I paid for the mowing and weeding, and other chores that Larry, head supervisor, had quoted, I agreed on, and he performed well. Greg, the owner or father of owner, pursued me with mailed invoices and letters. I paid for everything but what was in dispute. He continued to mail letters saying "you must pay..." etc. Then he came over and that ended with raised voices and my telling him to leave my property. Then he stood in the street to yell. I finally sent him the Uniform Commercial Code that explains why my payment was legally all I had to pay. Finally, he was silent. WOW, never again.
"I am Greg Doublas, Manager of Hoosier Lawn Services I want to make it clear that we appreciate and value all our customers. All work we receive we consider it to be a gift from the Lord, and thus are very appreciative and responsible. In the case of [Member Name Removed], we did do good quality of work and were very careful to fulfill all her special needs and requirements during mowing and when she asked us to trim her bushes. But somehow after trimming, she claimed that some of her bushes were damaged. Despite my explanation and reasoning she insisted to the contrary. However an experience horticulturalist, who saw the plants, confirmed that no damage was done. [Member Name Removed] simply did not want to pay the cost for trimming . Also, [Member Name Removed] stated that I stood by the street and "yelled" and that she told me to "leave her property" that is absolutely NOT true."
- Hoosier lawn service gave me the best service anyone could ask for they first had to clean up the mess that was left my the people who cut down a big dead tree , then went to work on some long over due land care . I can't beieve all the hard work that was done for FREE . Thank you Greg and the guy's you have working with you . May God Bless you and your's . A very Pleased Customer
