Speaking with the owner/manager went well. But I kept asking him to have our lawn cut twice a week if needed, and that  never happened! I asked the owner twice to cut the lawn shorter and they did it one time then forgot and cut it too high again after that.
The last straw was when, once again, they cut the lawn too quickly (sloppy) and left strips of long grass all over the yard, They somehow managed to spill large pieces of mulch outside of the flower bed about 5-10 feet and didn't clean it up. I called and cancelled their services at that point. The lawn cutting job looked like a 12 year old kid had done it and I wanted a nicely cut lawn.

Before the first application, I informed Ron that my major concern was crab grass control. We had experienced horrific crab grass the previous year. Ron told me that he could handle the problem. After hundreds of dollars of fertilizer and weed application and other services (thatching, rolling), we began to experience crab grass growth that was worse than the previous year. This was true crab grass, as certified by a Purdue botanist and two other yard service professionals. When I challenged Ron on it, he said at first that it wasn't crab grass. He later said that it was indeed crab grass, but he didn't recall us talking about that issue earlier in spring. All I asked of him in the end was a refund of one application price-about $75. He refused saying that he "would not take responsibility" for the shape of my yard. That is exactly what I hired a lawn service for - to take responsibility for my yard and keep some track of the things that I asked him to do. All of the other services were useless (rolling, thatching, fertilization) when your yard is overrun by crab grass that chokes out and kills the other grass. Incidentally, I have a photographic record to back up my claim.
