DW BRANDENBERGER GENERAL

I can honestly see why their reviews are so low. They do a poor job of communication. They would not do some warranty work over $43. I simply asked them to prove it over and over with invoices and insurance claims. They never did and were always confrontational. I have no problem paying it if they would simply prove it. I already paid thousands so why would I not pay the $43. That does not justify passing on the warranty work for a customer. Stay away from this company I wish one star was not allowed. They simply do not deserve such a high rating

We had damage done to our roof and house from a hail storm that occurred in May of 2019. We called them, they gave us an estimate, we paid a down payment, they ordered supplies and was working on it by September and was finished before our daughter’s weddings in October! We are very satisfied with the work that they did on our house!

We believe they performed unnecessary work to remove the baseboard and this added cost on the front and back end.  Also they damaged wall board becuase the work was performed poorly by unskilled labor.  Finally, their labor charges was extremely high and unjustified by the quality fo work. They had us over a barrel and took advantage of the situation.

    In the early a.m. of June 1, 2013, Fort Wayne was getting 5.5" of rain.  My basement alarm went off, and I began calling to get a service to prevent problems.  Brandenberger sent two young men who went back out and brought in a small submersible pump and hose, and left.
    They mentioned that I was their fifth one that night and they had twelve more.
    Although they said I would be contacted about the cleaning in a week, I rented a Rug Doctor etc. etc.  
    I never heard from them again until I was billed, on July 1, 2013, for $414.48.
    I immediately called, asking for an itemization of what the invoice listed as "Emergency water extraction."  When I mentioned Angie's List the secretary was a little panicky and said she'd get right back to me.However, I did not hear from DW Brandenberger again until the bill of August 1st:  
    It reads:  "Our office must receive payment in our office for the outstanding invoice for the total of $413.48 no later than August 15, 2013, or we will be forced to turn this over to our attorney for collection.  This will inrcease your bill as we will add late fees/interest of up to 18% of your total plus attorney fees.
    I called DW Brandenberger offices again, and the secretary no longer handles itemized invoices, but refers one directly to "the man who handles that, " Steve Bigelow, who is apparently the attorney handling the 18 people, for starters.. who were charged a minimum of $418.48 for a submersible pump, in and out, 20  minutes.
    I am experienced with Fort Wayne's sewer issues:  this is my 3rd mishap.  I am happy to report that services such as Brandenberger's will be unneccssary, as I am now equipped not only with my alarm, but with a $99 submersible pump and a 30'  hose ($17), and will never have to pay the extortionate charges for a kiss and a promise from the likes of DW Brandenberger. From this one young crew, the minimum billed would be $7,442.64, with calls still coming. I
If I was neck deep in Fort Wayne's sewage, I would not call them.  And that's a promise.

by At first, we were impressed with how quickly they were able to arrive when our sump pump failed, leaving our finished basement filled with 6 inches of water. After the initial service call, the servicemen showed up unannounced multiple times to perform minor/unnecessary  tasks. When we no longer needed the equipment to dry out the basement, they were very difficult to reach resulting in extra rental charges. When I did finally reach someone to request the equipment to be picked up, I also requested a final bill for all the services.  I should have known to be suspicious when the final bill left-contained only a brief explanation of the services performed and a total- so I called and requested an itemized bill for the services.  Once I received the itemized bill, I compared it to the notes I made with each interaction I had with the company. The bill had a surplus of $200.00 in overcharges, so I called their estimator, Steve Bigelow. When I spoke with Steve of the overcharges, at first he tried to tell me he was giving me a deal.  When I asked him how charging me for 6 days of equipment rental when I only had the equipment for 5 days is a deal, he proceeded to argue with me, but I held my ground and he finally agreed I was correct and revised the bill. The next overcharge was for one of their unannounced visits at an "after hours" charge. Steve did agree to change this to a regular hourly charge, but I was charged for 2 hours of work, when they were actually at our home for only 40 minutes-Steve said this was because there were 2 guys ( one could have done the work-I argued this for awhile, but gave up). Additionally, when the equipment was picked up it took the 1 man less than 20 minutes and I was charged for 2 hours worth of work- after some rebuttal Steve revised this charge.  When I asked questions about a couple of the other charges with the hopes to have a better understanding of what my minimal amount of insurance money was going towards, Steve replied, "The Insurance Company allows me to charge this." I then called my insurance company, which deiced to run a blind audit to help explain the charges.  The audit came back that D.W.Brandenberger was over changing me almost $500.00 (on top of the $200.00 of overcharges Steve revised). My bill was finally closed, but if I wouldn't have checked it and questioned it, I would have over paid. Moral to this experience, if you are so desperate you call D.W.Brandenberger, document everything and double check all the charges.
