DuHadway Corp
About us
Locally Owned. We are a family owned local business that was started by Cedric DuHadway. Now Mike, Jim, and JoAnn, the third generation, own and operate DuHadway under the same original name. Some companies have changed names several times in just the last several years. We have continued the tradition of offering quality products at a fair price. One of the best ways to maintain quality control is to use full time employees to install your windows, doors, and siding projects. We don’t use subcontractors. The problem with many subcontractors and other companies’ employees is how they are paid. They are usually paid by the job. If there is a problem and they take the time to work through it, their pay is cut. We don't pay our people on a piecework basis. We know it is a bad way to keep quality work. We know because we have been working with homeowners since 1946.

"DuHadway is sorry if we did not communicate better that the crews would need to get material that would be required for that day's work. For example, after DuHadway had finished the concrete work on the basement waterproofing, we need to pick up the 2x4's need to frame in the basement walls. You would get this and other material as it would be required at that stage of the job. Sometimes when you are picking up material you get right through the checkout. Other times there may be other people ahead of you resulting in longer pickup times. Since this was a Wounded Warrior Program project, DuHadway moved this job ahead of others to help. In the process, we got free carpet donated to this project. DuHadway and Poorman Heating donated and installed at no cost a back flow valve to prevent water from backing up into their basement. DuHadway will certain try to communicate our scheduling and timing better with other customers in the future"
Finding this contractor is the very reason we signed up for Angies list!
They delivered everything they said they would in a very professional manner. They even called if they were going to be late for any reason.
The repair was turn key from start to finish. The floors were left clean, no dust, no scraps left behind and they have very courteous employees. A big pat on the back to Gary, Perry and Steve.
They will be the first company we call if we need anything else done!
They came out right away and gave me a quote. Didn't plan on ordering the door that night but he answered all my questions and made my decision to go with them very easy.
The gentleman came out on a Saturday to do the work. Then came back the following Monday to complete the trim work outside. He did a GREAT job! Very happy with the results.
Cleaned everything up and it looks and works great!
Then last year we had to replace windows in the back and two doors in the back.
The doors were steel doors and the windows matched the ones in the front.
The product is quality and the installation is excellent.
Everyone that we worked with was great... caring and patient as we made our choices.
We will defitely work with them again if we need anything done!!
One thing that was really great was how the two men that installed the windows were very proud of the work they did. When I came home from work (someone else was home with work was done) they explained what they did and how to clean them. And the most impressive thing they did was decided to redo an entire window the next day (a Saturday) because he just wasn't happy with it and he felt he just couldn't leave us with a window like that. He was sorry about the delay but just wanted us to be happy with the end product, and I appriciate that. The employees that work for them as installers actually work for the company and get paid hourly (which I was informed by the company) so they aren't rushing to just get the job done.
One thing I wasn't happy with was how I was talked down to when I asked a question over the phone about if some wood that was exposed needed to be painted right away because it was going to rain. I just got a snoty answer from a man, but I guess it was just a dumb questions...other than that they were always nice and polite.
The 2nd job was estimated when they finished the first job and consisted of a door and two window replacements on the porch in addition to putting up some new insulation and interior wall material. This was $1500 and took two days. Both jobs were done by people who were experts (concrete person, sump pump person, door and window person, with helpers. Everyone was hard-working, courteous and friendly. It was a pleasant experience.
That being said, the original installer of my windows did not share his professional attitude and enthusiasm to meet and/or exceed the customer's expectations. The exterior weather flashing that was requested was poorly caulked around the siding and windows, which would have allowed water to contact the siding backer-board if not corrected. Two windows were not centered in the original window opening, requiring them to remove and recenter the windows. The interior molding was not wide enough to cover the areas around the windows where the original molding had covered the walls. After bringing this to Jim's attention, he agreed that this should not have been done with such narrow molding and that wider molding should have been used and that the installer should have brought this to his supervisor's attention to be addressed with me. Even after the narrow molding was replaced with wider molding, at least 2 additional visits had to be made to repair poorly fitting mitre corners, uncaulked molding and replace molding that was cut to fit around a bathrobe rack (instead of removing the rack from the wall to make room for the molding). As a side note, the original installer no longer works at DuHadway. Apparently, my job was not the only sub-par work he had provided.
Even with the frustration of multiple return visits and requesting Jim to do a final review to make sure everything was completed to my satisfaction, I was pleased that there was never a point where Jim said, and quot;DuHadway cannot do thatand quot; or and quot; That will cost extra to fix that.and quot; They understood that certain aspects of the work did not meet my expectations and were happy to provide the extra effort to make it right and to have their top workers complete the repairs.
I terms of the product installed, I am very happy with the Northstar windows. Exterior sounds are deadened and there is a noticeable improvement in the surface temperature of the windows on very cold and very hot days; the insulation properties of the new windows are far better than of those they replaced.
"DuHadway agreed with your assessment of that particular installer and he was terminated. We regret the job wasn't completed to your OR our standards the 1st time, but were happy with the completed job. Duhadway thanks you for your evaluation. Looking forward to working on your next project."
"Great Customers, nice to work with"
