Bishop's Painting Inc

I had a great experience with Bishop Painting Inc. that I'd like to share with Ft Wayne area Angie's List members. Six months ago I moved from Ft Wayne to the Indy area for a new job. I put my Ft Wayne house on the market shortly after I started my new job and had a goal to sell my home soon, so I wouldn't be saddled with a monthly mortgage and a monthly rent! I have a beautiful home, but my realtor told me that I received a lot of negative feedback from prospective buyers that I had outdated wallpaper throughout my home. This was a major factor in not selling my house quickly. So I decided to take my house off the market and get a few things fixed up. The major re-do on my house was to strip out the wallpaper and paint the interior. Mark Bishop (the owner of Bishop Painting) came out to make an assessment of my house. He estimated the amount of work to strip out the wallpaper, patch up or skim coat the walls and paint the interior would be $1,800 (subject to change based on the amount of work needed to strip out wallpaper and repair the walls). I also received a quote for the same job from the Certa Pro Painters franchise in Ft Wayne. I ended up choosing to go with Bishop Painting because Mark offered a lower price, was recommended by both my realtor and a local flooring store, and he was able to start immediately (important for me as I had temporarily taken my house off the market). Bishop Painting Inc. immediately got to work on my house and did a fantastic job. They had a lot of work to strip the wallpaper and resurface the walls in my home. Even though I live in the Indy area, during the middle of the week, I took a 2 hour trip to Ft Wayne to check on their progress. I saw that they completed a lot of work, despite more repair work than anticipated. At the end of the week they competed the job and I was impressed with the work! Bishop Painting Inc. did a very thorough job, and Mark was willing to re-touch anything that they might have missed. In the end, he charged $2,400 for the interior job, but this was well worth it. In addition to painting my interior, I also asked Mark Bishop if he could clean up my garage, fix up my outdoor deck and re-stain a few of my Pella windows that looked like they incurred a little moisture over the years. Bishop Painting did a nice job power washing my garage (it was filthy with oil stains!), and applying gloss coating to the floor. It looked great! In addition, Bishop Painting Inc. replaced a few rotted-out boards on my deck and re-stained. Big improvement. The cost for both of these jobs was $350, very reasonable. Mark delayed working on the deck and I had to follow up with him again, but then he quickly took charge and got the work done. My realtor also met with Mark Bishop to show him a few windows that had to be re-stained. He charged me $160 to get this job done. This work was OK, but my realtor advised me to get a little more work done to make improvements. He will recommend a windows expert to finish this job up for me. Overall, Bishop Painting did an excellent job painting my home, and fixing up my garage and outdoor deck. Prices were very reasonable. Very friendly and professional. Mark told me that he has been in business for over 40 years, and he takes the quality of his work very seriously. Highly recommended.
